INTRODUCTION
Galway is a small city in west Ireland, which is very rich in cultural properties. This city is
located on River Corrib and is famous for their traditional culture like, handicrafts, Claddagh ring,
books and musical instruments. Along with this, European Capital of Culture is title, which
European Union use to give to that city which is very good at their cultural aspects and also this title
is given only for 1 year. In year 2019, Galway is going to host European Capital of Culture, which
will help them in getting opportunities to host ample number of cultural events that will took place
in nation. In this report, a study will take place on different cultural products of them along with this
McKercher and Du Cross diagram will get designed for tourism market of Galway. In second part
of this report, a discussion will take place on impact of this title on social, economic and
environment of nation and Doxey's Irridex will get developed in terms of destination in Galway.
TASK 1
1. Examine the different cultural products and link them to their markets in Galway, Ireland.
Culture is mainly considered as a common good which acts as an key essential element for
cultural well-being. Cultural products within Galway, Ireland can be effectively classified on the
basis of market market goods and non-market goods, notion of reproducibility, material or
immaterial and industry and craft work. In simple terms, products and services in which items like,
visual arts, architecture, performing arts, heritage conservation are included are termed as an
cultural products. Cultural products are effectively responsible to maintain, prevent and develop
these goods. Elements included in culture is not only a art but a large medium to collect memory
and secure multiculturalism (Burke, 2017). With the culture of Galway, cultural industries include,
different types of commodified activities in which factors like art, design, architecture and music
are included. Thus, in order to increase efficiencies in country related to cultural products,
government of Galway provide effective support in their maintenance. As these products effectively
lead country towards more growth and development. Mentioned below there are some major
cultural products available in the marketplace of Galway, Ireland:
Festival: Galway include some of the most attractive and exciting sites in their doorstep.
One of them is their festival which will further help them to increase reputation of city as a party
town. This cultural product in city comes up in every summer which draws attraction of wide range

earth which help country to earn more economy.

Neachtain. This culture performed on Cross Street which attracts tourists from different different

Galway City Museum: It is one of the most eye catchy and attractive culture product in
Galway, this overlooking Spanish arch is related to heritage and Galway's history. City have wide
variety of prehistoric and medieval collections which showcase Galway's social history.
Medieval Galway: This cultural product within Galway is standing out a late 16th century.
Medieval Galway is also termed as Tribes of Galway. This bring effective increase in city prosperity
as it help them to attract attention of customer towards more effectiveness.
Traditional music session: This is one of the best place to explore and included in best
places of Galway island. Traditional music sessions offer city tourist to love and breathes traditional
music and street buskers. This is one of the most attractive spot which is offered by city of tourists

host the European Capital of Culture in 2019.
Galway is one of the most beautiful cities of the world, which is located at West of Ireland.
This city is located on River Corrib, and also is very much rich in traditional culture like
handicrafts, Claddagh ring, books and musical instruments. In year 2019, they are going to host
European Capital of Culture, and also in year 2020, they are going to become city with this tag.
This is a title which European Union use to give city which is very much rich in culture and the
validity of this title remain only for 1 year, after which European Union use to give that award to
another nation. Also, while a nation have this title, then most of the cultural events of Europe use to
be organised there only (McDonagh, 2017). As this is said a huge opportunity to that city which is
titled with this, that they have several chances to make benefits related to society, economic and
environment. Along with this, the country also get huge chance to achieve some benefits of it, so
that they can generate some revenue and also develop themselves. Impact on society, economic and
environment of nation is described beneath :-
1. Social : While Galway will get title of European Capital of Culture, then they will get
ample number of chances of hosting several cultural events. This all will help the city to get

interacted with several different cultures of the world, and also help them by increasing
diversity at culture of nation. Also Ireland will get ample number of social benefits by this,
as it will help people there in getting opportunities of employment, and also to attain high
amount of profitability (O'neill and et. al, 2015). This all will improve living standards at
society and also help by increasing diversity in culture of nation.
2. Economic : While Galway will host several cultural events, then it will help people of
nation to get opportunities of employment and also opportunities to work. This will help
them in generating some revenue and also help them in attracting money of another nation.
This all will help Ireland in getting high rate of profitability and also help them in
generating money from another nation. This all increase total economy of nation, which
they can use for their future development.
3. Environment : Also, number of cultural events will affect the environment of nation. As for

required by them, so that they can provide proper convenience facility to their guests. This
all can cause huge loss to their environment by increasing level of pollution in air and also

km square (Walsh and Carney, 2016). This will lead the city to face problems of hosting huge
number of people and also it is very much possible for them to get fail in providing different
facilities to their customers. Along with this, it is very much possible that host can face conditions
of apathy in few time.
CONCLUSION
From the above report, it has been concluded that, when Galway is going to host European
Capital of Culture, they will get opportunities to invite ample number of guest and serve them. Also
this will provide benefits to social and economic of nation but can harm environment of nation.
Along with this a condition of apathy can get build in Galway while hosting huge number of guest
with very small space.
