INTRODUCTION
Plagiarism is considered to be an academic misconduct and can be defined as the practice
of using the ideas as well as information of some other person without acknowledging them as
the source. Students who plagiarize have to face serious consequences (Adhikari, 2018). The task
describes a game for students to develop strategies for avoiding plagiarism and academic
misconduct.
Task 1: Game Design
The game will involve the students to first write an article on the given topic by the tutor.
They will be allowed to refer the different primary as well as secondary sources in order to
complete their tasks in an effective manner. the students will keep a track of the different sources
that they use in order to complete their task. The tutor will teach and guide the students with the
concept of paraphrasing from the sources. This can help them in developing an understanding of
how can plagiarism can be avoided. When the students complete their tasks, they will be asked to
check each other’s work and award points for each paragraph that does not have any plagiarized
content. This will help in creating some level of excitement among the students to earn reward
points and also, develop strategies to avoid plagiarism as well as academic misconduct.
If there is any part of the task that contains plagiarized content, no points will be awarded
and thus, the student will lose out on marks (Lipson, 2019). The respective game will help the
students to understand that plagiarism must be avoided at all times because it can lead them to
face various negative consequences. This is also important because plagiarism is considered to
be a form of academic misconduct both academically as well as in the future. While analyzing
the work of each other, extra marks will be credited to the students who have credited the
original author or not.

conduct certain games which help the students to develop an understanding of the same. The
more interesting the game will be, the more easily students will be able to develop the skills of
