INTRODUCTION
This presentation is going to discuss ways of developing an effective online game for
making students aware about plagiarism and protecting them against it. Further, it will discuss
reasons of maintaining integrity at university level along with skills for producing online quiz for
plagiarism avoidance.
Development of game that can develop strategies for avoiding plagiarism and academic
misconduct by students
There are several effective ways by which students can be taught about consequences of
plagiarism. The best and first think that can help in avoiding plagiarism by students is making
them understand about negative impacts if they copy and paste same content from any source
and website. Steps and activities of avoiding plagiarism include:
Cite sources: All universities should make it compulsory for their students about citing
sources relevant to their content and project. By making them understand about ways of citing as
full name of the source, date when it was published and others that can make sure that content is
not being copied from others' work.
Plagiarism game: There are some activities have been shown in an online game, created
by Lycoming college. It is being created in video game style that can help students in
demonstrating knowledge of plagiarism.
Plagiarism awareness quiz: For better teaching about plagiarism to students, plagiarism
awareness quiz can be used. For submitting plagiarism related quiz, students will need to go
through the ASU library plagiarism awareness tutorials. There is option of submit and by
clicking on that button, students can get their results. It can also help tutors in knowing
awareness and skills among students regarding plagiarism.
Tutorials and practice tests: There are some practice tests are available online that can
help students in knowing their own basic, novice, intermediate, advanced and expert level. As
per the recognition after submitting practice tests. On the basis of their results they can improve
their skills by getting proper oral training by tutors about how to avoid word for word,
paraphrasing plagiarism.
Creation and steps of using game
The game that can help students in avoiding plagiarism and knowing about it is known as
gamagio. It will consist of some quiz such as:

Importance of academic integrity: Academic integrity is all about trust that is important
for universities to maintain. It can be maintained by teaching students about ways of making
projects with their own skills rather copying from other's work. There are several benefits and
reasons for which universities should maintain integrity. One of the main importance or benefit
of maintaining academic integrity is improving value to students' degree.
For students: If students do not maintain academic integrity then it can affect value of
their degree. It can also snatch opportunities to learn, improve and develop skills.

Academic community: Academic community can get affected the most as cheating ,
sharing and applying of knowledge can violate their fundamental values. It may also face
problems in attracting students.
Future employees: For employing skilled workforce by university, it important to
maintain integrity. If they cheat and share their information then it may affect their image. Poor
image of organization and universities find problems in employing skilled professionals.
So, for employing skilled profession, students, developing career of students, maintaining
integrity is important.
Reflection on skills: For accessing and making use of online games for avoiding
plagiarism there are requirements of some skills. I believe that an ability and skills to paraphrase
and summarizing content is must for avoiding plagiarism. There are some questions that are
being asked regarding this as how you will avoid plagiarism. So, for giving correct answer and
getting effective marks, it is important to have knowledge and skills.
For producing games related to plagiarism, I believe, tutors should have knowledge about
all type of plagiarism and all levels in sequence manner that can help in avoiding plagiarism.
Having knowledge regarding using strategies at all levels such as basic, intermediate, expert and
others, can teach students about plagiarism and protect them against poor integrity.
CONCLUSION
It has been summarized from the above study avoiding plagiarism is important for
increasing academic skills and efficiency. It has also discussed some strategies and online games
that can help students in avoiding plagiarism and increasing their academic performance.
