Academic integrity refers to a set core values which are applicable
in everything an individual does. It involves guidance and support
in the learning and academic work by instilling values such as
honesty, fairness, trust, respect and responsibility. Academic
integrity is crucial for the university as the manner in which the
student work affect how the university is perceived.
The university needs to be consistent and trustworthy in its
overall standards relative to its courses and assessments. This is
important as it ensure that the community has confidence in the
individual who graduate with degrees from the university.
The individuals that graduate from the university are also able to
benefit form academic integrity as they are able to feel proud of
the high standards that they have achieved, knowing that what
they have learned was based on the established structure of trust
and respect which enhances the value of their specific degree
from the university.
The game is for tow or more player (students) plus one “Professor” ) an individual with sound knowledge
of academic misconduct)
Integrity cards is a game which is designed for students in order to improve his/her knowledge relative to
plagiarism and academic misconduct.
The objective of the game
The primary goal of the games is for the player(student) to gain valuable knowledge about plagiarism and
academic misconduct through series of question written on cards. The game will help the player(student) to
understand the value of academic integrity as well as the importance of avoiding plagiarism and any other form
of misconduct during their exams and assignments.
Rules
Starting the game
The game will being with “professor” placing 10 special ethic cards, with question about academic misconduct
along with is correct answers marked within it. The cards will be shuffled and be placed in front of student who
will be allotted in 3 teams in order to improve the rate of answers. The teams of player( students) will also be
allotted three cards which have the letter A, B and C written on that. These letters will represent the answer they
think are correct for the question being asked by the “professor”.
Gameplay
The “professor” will pick up a random card and loudly announce the question related to academic misconduct to
the first team. The team members need to listen to the question and show the card representing the correct
alphabet allotted to the correct answer. If the answer given by the team is correct they will be awarded 10 points
and if they answer is incorrect they would receive negative 5 points along with the answer being passed on the
next team in line. The process will be time bound and each team will only be given 30 seconds to answer the
question. If they are enable to answer they can choose not to answer as there will be no deduction of points.
Although the question will be passed on to the next team in line.
Finishing the game
The game will finish once all the cards have been answered.
