INTRODUCTION
Academic misconduct is considered as the process of gaining different academic
advantages through conducting unfair activities. Plagiarism and different type of
misconducts impact integrity and other aspects that impacts performance as well.
DESIGN A GAME
Game description & Structure of game
Academic misconduct is related to various activities such as plagiarism, cheating and
various other unfair activities that are done for the purpose of gaining extra advantages
than others (Parnther, 2020). These activities impact on morality as well as honesty of
students.
Plagiarism capture (PC):
Plagiarism Capture is played through online mode and it is interactive as well as fun based
game that is developed for enhancing the understanding regarding academic integrity and
avoiding misconducts. It helps students to follow all ethical practices and advantages over
others.
Structure and model of Plagiarism identifier
Plagiarism Capture game structured is divides in three parts that contains two relevant
questions and participants must provide answer among six options. For right 20, 10, 40, 50
points are provided to participants. The game is able to enhance understanding and
knowledge regarding different academic courses.
It is important to avoid these activities for enhancing efficiency and effectiveness of
academic work. It is observed that students learn things fast through playing interesting
games (Gómez-Urquiza and et. al., 2019). University provides various assignments to
students to develop or design games that help to avoid the actions of plagiarism and
academic misconducts. Different factors of game design are discussed below:
Instructor provide instant feedback to students that improve their understanding. Some
aspects of game are mentioned below:
Plagiarism Capture game is related to avoid plagiarism and question are related to
what are the concept of plagiarism, disadvantage of plagiarism and how to avoid it.
It helps students to avoid plagiarism from their academic work.
Plagiarism Capture is designed for reducing the level of academic misconduct and it
questions are related to implication of academic misconduct and its penalties.
The improves students understanding regarding importance of academic integrity.
Questions of this sections are role and importance of academic integrity in academic
life.
Instruction to play game:
In the initial stage of game, each participant’s login their user ID which is developed for the
playing game. This ID is unique for every participant that ensures security. Cyber security is
essential for creating digital teaching activities (Tisma and Andric, 2021).
Plagiarism Capture game consist three sections and each section contains two related
questions. Participants are required to provide one answer of relative question among six
options.
It is important to attain more than 50 points to win game.
Instructors develop some regulations regarding playing game such as participants cannot
leave game in middle. If students leave game than they are not allowed to submit their
assignment.
Instructors provide feedbacks to participants at the last of game according their performance
that improve efficiency and effectiveness.
Questions that are asked in each segments are changed every time that avoid the activities
of plagiarism and cheating.
Importance of academic integrity
Academic integrity is defined as the aspects that states commitment of students towards their
academic work (Fatemi and Saito, 2020). These students are not used unethical or unfair
activities instead of that they emphasis on completing their work with integrity and honesty. It
allows students as well as staff members develop their own ideas, knowledge as well as
complete work in creative manner through respecting and acknowledging work of others.
A summary of reflection on the skills used to produce the game
I have provided an assignment to develop the game which encourage
students to adopt academic integrity as well as avoid the academic misconduct like plagiarism,
cheating and unfair activities. I have used various skills and competencies in the process of
developing game such as power point, organisation skills, writing skills, research skill,
designing as well as creativity skills that help me to design effective game. I have research to
develop the questions was going to asked in game. I have selected the questions that enhance
knowledge and understanding of students regarding academic integrity and implications of
misconducts. I have tried to develop unique featured game which is not developed before by
anyone. I have used my organisation skill to organise all instructions in systematic manner
present these instructions through power point. During designing game, I have use critical
thinking, problem solving and effective decision making skills that help to develop game is
efficient manner. From developing game, l have learnt various skills and competencies like
trust, honesty, respect and responsibility that help to complete academic work with efficiency.
