INTRODUCTION
Academic integrity a practice of following fairness and reliable means by teachers,
students, researchers and other people associated with the academic community. Academic
integrity adds value to academic career life of an individual by delivering the real meaning and
understanding of learnings. Using unfair means might always deliver negative outcome such as
lack of knowledge, difficulty in getting employment or can even face severe consequences of
practicing unfair means. With the help of game design which is covered in this report, it delivers
the importance of academic integrity for players especially students. Wherein the game designed
is in a way that helps the students to utilize their time in a productive manner in addition to that
the game motivates the players to strictly follow the fair means of playing the games that also
makes the helpful for the students to be habitual for using fair means in academic career as well
and the game design also enriches the academic knowledge and skills of the students. The report
talks about the importance of academic integrity that how it shapes the career objectives and
stimulates academic growth and makes socially and ethical responsible. Lastly, the report talks
about reflection on skills and competencies that helped in the completion of the game design
which includes both technical and soft skills required to rightly managing all the activities and
resources required to bring the success of the game design (Cronan and et.al., 2017).

TASK 1
Design a game for students that develops strategies for avoiding plagiarism and academic
misconduct
The designed game is “The Problem Solving Game” that focusses on key areas such as
plagiarism and academic misconduct. The game designed is embedded with the sharp software in
order to make it user friendly and easy navigation options. Players can easily download this on
specific electronic devices such mobile, desktop. The game deliver attractive features that brings
up interest of the students. The game is designed in a way that includes puzzles, quizzes and
activities that reflects the importance of academic integrity (Denisova-Schmidt, 2016). These
quizzes are framed by series of both multiple choice & descriptive questions wherein students
have to deliver their own answers to avoid plagiarism. If the players use any unfair means such

as copying answer or navigating from the screens to solve puzzles or quizzes even after 3 signs,
then the players straight away restricted from playing the game. If the player scores great points,
then she/he can even earn shopping coupons and vouchers which also works like a motivational
technique to impart honesty while playing the game. The game is especially designed in a way to
enhance the academic knowledge and critical thinking abilities of the students where the use
their honest efforts to earn exciting rewards. These skills and knowledge also helps students in
their academic career and impart the habit of academic integrity (Denisova-Schmidt, 2017).

Thus, the report clearly highlights the importance of academic integrity in an individual’s
life. Wherein academic integrity is equally important to students, teachers, researchers and other
people related in the academic community. Academic integrity is important as it shapes and
individual’s personality making him/her more responsible, loyal and enhances understanding and
learnings pertaining to different subjects. Game design is an effective approach covered in the
report that clearly states the importance of academic integrity. Game designed for students helps
them to utilize their time in a productive manner apart from that, with the help of game students
will be able to use fair means for winning the game plus the game will also help to develop the
soft skills of the students such as critical thinking abilities, knowledge about different academic
sources and so on. The report also briefly discuss reflection on set of skills and abilities required
throughout for designing the game.
