Thompson Rivers University: Gaming Console Selection Report Analysis

Reflective report
I gained my understanding about different factors that I did not heard before attending the
course. Throughout the course, I gained my knowledge in the context of advanced technology. In
this way, it is pointed that the advanced technology could be effective in gaming industry
because it supports to easily attract the number of people and supports in achieving higher
competitive advantages. I also gained my knowledge about gaming consoles and observed that
manufactures should focus on kinds of games that is played by users. It is illustrated that the
organization can imply an advance tool to compete with their competitors.
From this study, I have developed my understanding regarding secondary data collection
tool, focus group method, and descriptive research design. This learning experience is effective
in collecting reliable information through selecting feasible tools. It is observed that the focus
group method could assist in getting the feasible information towards research issue. In addition,
it is illustrated that if gaming consoles users are relied on driving forces then it could impact on
the technological decision (Hurley, 2019).
I also observed that advanced technology could be imperative in obtaining the
information regarding research matter. Moreover, I have learnt that advanced technology could
support the organization to comprehend the needs as well as the preference level of consumers. It
could be significant to meet the organizational task. It is illustrated that demand of consumers
could be increased by focusing on advanced technology. I also gained my knowledge about an
expectation of Sony PlayStation users and Xbox users. I have increased my experience about
different ways that could be considered by organization in their business process and meeting the
organizational task (Hurley, 2019).

I was not aware about selection of suitable research information and considering the
study but after this study, I understood about the same. Now, I am capable for effectively collect
the information towards the specific concern. This study could also lead to know about different
sources of qualitative data collection tool that are usually considered to make decision in favor of
the concern.
I have pointed that the main concerns which are faced by the managers of the
organization are associated with the lack of practice advance technology, cost for executing the
advance technology, and profitability situation. It would aid the researcher in effectively
conducting the research in the upcoming period (Pino, 2019). I also understood that the
organization could concentrate on implying the advanced technology in gaming section due to
simply attract the number of consumers. Consequently, it would assist to increase the market
share of firm. Moreover, I also gained my understanding about my weakness with my classmates
and try to resolve after completion of this study.
It is also examined that communication skills are supported to easily discuss the problem
with another one and making an effective decision. It is illustrated that I understood that writing
skills are effective in writing the research report. In this study, I used many tools and techniques
for improving my skills and it would be supportive to effectively develop report. I also check my
assignment at each stage in order to improve the research outcome. My tutor gave me feedback
on all stages that I was effective for me to conduct this study. I also observed that the researcher
has used different kinds of sources in data gathering. It is pointed that this source can take longer
time as well as cost but helps to make effective planning before implementation of this study. I
also understood that different skills have been improved by me that helps to conduct further
study and getting feasible information towards the research matter (Pino, 2019).

I also understood that organizational behavior could be different to one consumer to
another consumer. For illustration, a consumer could be attracted by different factors such as
motivation, promotion, price, and quality. Hence, the organization should focus on these factors
for attracting the people and retain them for the long term. I also gained an understanding about
how an organization could obtain reliable information about research matter (Miranda, 2019). I
also gained my understanding about SPSS tool, which is used to analyze and present the
information by chart, table, and graphs. This software also assisted me in effectively presenting
the data about research and making significant decision towards the collected data. This tool is
more reliable as compared to other software (Hurley, 2019).
Throughout the course, I have developed my understanding about research methodology.
In this way, I have learned that research methodology is used to collect the data in a systematic
manner. I have also increased my knowledge about data collection method. Throughout this, I
came to know about the different sources for capturing the primary and secondary data. From
course material, I have observed that primary data collection is used for gathering fresh and
innovative information.
Along with this, I have noticed that secondary data collection is implemented to capture
the second-hand sources that are already published. It is identified that these techniques are
beneficial for obtaining a large amount of data about the research concern. It was taught to me
that a survey through the questionnaire is used for collecting the primary information related to
the research concern. I have also developed my understanding regarding the focus group that
helps me to gather reliable information regarding research concerns. In this way, it was taught to
me that the focus group method helps to capture in-depth data in less time. This learning
experience would be applied by me in the future to make further research (Colyer, 2019).

Along with this, the secondary data collection method is used for collecting the data from
journal articles, textbooks, academic publications, and online websites. From the feedback of
faculty members, I have learned that I need to more focus on selecting feasible research methods
because it is the basis of research and assists in solving the research concern. This learning
would be applied by me to become a good market researcher in the future (Cohen & Waniata,
2019).
Throughout the course, I have developed my knowledge about the sampling method. In
this way, I have learned that the sampling method could be selected for selecting the sample
from a large population. I have increased my understanding that a mixed research design could
be used by the researcher because it considers the features of both qualitative and quantitative
research design. In this way, it was noticed that a qualitative research design could be used for
obtaining the theoretical information related to the research concern (Malhotra, 2012).
Along with this, a quantitative research design could be implemented to collect practical
information related to the research concern. From the feedback of faculty members, it is
identified that there is a need to select feasible research design as it aids to collect and analyze
the data in a significant manner. This learning would be applied by me to become good market
research in upcoming times. This learning experience would be also implemented by me to make
further research in different fields.
From the research study, I have increased my learning experience in the data analysis
method. In this way, it was pointed by me that there are different techniques of data analysis that
could be used for analyzing the collected data in a significant manner (Thompson Rivers
University, 2019).These methods are statistical data analysis and content analysis. I have
observed that the statistical data analysis method could be used to analyze the gathered data by

using regression, correlation, and descriptive statistics. I have also learned that MS-excel
software could be used for analyzing the data in minimum time as well as, it provides higher
accurate outcomes. This learning experience would be applied by me to make further research
and become a good market researcher.
During the course, I have increased my understanding that ethical consideration could be
used to ethically complete the research. In this way, I have learned that the researcher should
take prior permission to higher authority before conducting the survey on participants. It has
supported me to ethically complete the research study. I have also kept secure to confidential
data and breach it after the 6th month’s completion of the research. This strategy is also beneficial
for completing the research in an ethical manner. This learning experience would be applied by
me in the future to do further research (Malhotra, 2012). It would be also significant for me to
achieve my goal i.e. to become a good market researcher.
