Examine the effectiveness of the Project Management process of the e-
archiving project introduced in flight operations at GCAA and to identify the
benefits of the delivered project
Introduction/Background:
The project work is originated to regulate as well as review safety and security delivered to air navigation
services. There is facilitation of air connectivity throughout the collaboration for serving public aviation
industry in approachable as well as cost effective way. The vision of GCAA is to provide safe, secured s
well as sustainable aviation system. Through using the project management processes, there are some
drivers identified in flight operations of General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) such as international
and local aviation regulations, need to determine operational issues and increase the flight operations
(Karaagaoglu and Cicek 2019). There is required to perform studies for supporting decision making in the
aviation industry.
Achebe and Tighe (2018) discussed that the flight operations of GCAA would encourage the operator for
promoting a paperless concepts during environmental save line of interaction with the project
stakeholders. Through proper planning of the flight operations, it can support and update regulations of
flight and environmental technical policies. The operational manager gives oversight on ecological
compliances.
At the time of delivering the project, in the closure phase, there is finalization of project activities and
contract. The key benefits of delivered project are that all project phases are archived, completion of
planned work, as well as organizational team resources are being released to perform the flight operations
of GCAA. The project manager checks if the project is completed on scheduled timeframe and the project
can meet with its objectives so that there is effectiveness of project management processes to introduce
flight operations (Stolzer 2017).

Research Approach/Methodology: (indicate why this approach is selected and any limitations)
In the research methodology, the research philosophy is helped to determine efficient method to gain
details of selected project title. It helps to examine assumption procedures while working on selected title.
Positivism is selected as research philosophy helped to apply logic and determine hidden facts in
controlled way. This selected method is rejected metaphysics such that detailed observation is being

enabled (Bruce 2016). This study is time limited, therefore other research philosophies are discarded as
selected philosophy.
The research approach is a method where format needed to conduct the work is shown. The selected title
will try to provide concepts of project management processes in flight operations using project
management knowledge. Inductive approach is failed to be implemented in this paper as new concepts as
well as project management theories are emphasised by the investigator. The selected project title will
help to understand concepts in proper way. Deductive research approach is selected to build specifications
on project management theories plus data analysis concepts (Wu 2016). Based on nature of this study,
this approach is suitable as it helps to perform better analysis of title.
The research design will help the researcher to explain framework of selected research topic which will
help to select and collect data related to effectiveness of project management processes in flight
operations of GCAA (Bazargan 2016). Descriptive research design is selected to define processes in
application of flight operations and current archiving system used into operating flights. Exploratory and
explanatory research designs are avoided as in this paper no new types of ideas are required for research
completion. Because of explanation of cause and effect relations, infiltration details of research study
become limited (Vieira and Loures 2016). Descriptive design is suitable for this study as it has purpose
give details to situation incidence of events with details in addition to appropriate explanation of project
management processes.
In this study, data collection is required to collect information helpful to study the research work in
details. The data collection is required to derive suitable results to research processes and enable the
format of the project work. The data sources are required to penetrate the selected project topic and help
to get details based on the project management processes for flight operations in aviation industry. In this
current project study, primary sources are included to perform interaction sessions with the employees of
GCAA to gain information based on selected objectives (Woltjer et al. 2015). The literature sources on
selected topic is considered as output of this paper as secondary sources.
Quantitative data analysis method is selected to record narrative data type which can add details to the
selected project title. It is presented in statistical form on collected raw data helpful to record of
information of larger size of sample. The employees of GCAA are taken to perform quantitative research.
The total sample taken for performing quantitative data analysis is 50. Based on their responses on survey
questions, the data are collected and it is analyzed in form of charts and tables. As the researcher is not
considered all the employees, therefore there is smaller representation of population as sample of the
work.

Lack of personnel’s having skills and
knowledge to perform flight operations
The personnel should be trained so that they can get training
on how to handle and manage flight operations. The
personnel should designate with the responsibilities of risk
management to prepare for aviation incidents. Monthly
training should provide to the staffs so that it would limit
personnel challenges (Taggart 2017).
Risk of supply chain There should maintain supply and availability of the
products with increasing ability of supply chain. The
operation manager should overcome with disruptions in
products of supply chain.
Change in climate The flight staffs should forecast the climate so that it does
not provide any effect on the flight operations. When there
is climate forecasting, then it would limit cancellations
based on seasonality (Saunders 2015).
Resources: (a list of resources needed to complete the project)
The project team members are included people those are delivering the project and they are individuals
those are providing value to the project, required skills to deliver successful project and decision makers.
Human Resources (Project team member, Project manager, Project coordinator, Project Planner,
Technical lead, System analyst, IT Manager, Business analysis lead, head of procurement, head of
administration, Change management consultant).
Technical material and tools, machines, capital and flight operations related information are other
resources which are used to perform the project work.
Code of Ethics: (identify any ethical considerations)
Through entire process of the research methodology, the researcher is required to follow code of conduct
for determining wrong as well as right set of the behaviours needed to adopt in this study. Following are
ethical considerations which are taken into account:
i. Data Application:
The collection of data is done through study of the research topic to understand present processes of
project management to perform flight operations. There is avoiding of commercial data application such
that the project findings are being limited to academic purposes only.
ii. Involvement of the project participants:
The researcher is not provided none such external pressure on the respondents to take part into the
feedback processes of the selected project title. The respondent’s participation is encouraged to
participate into the survey.
iii. Anonymity of the project respondents:
It should be ensured that there is no such mental as well as physical harassment involved with the
respondents such that respondent’s identification was concealed based on participant’s requests.
