INTRODUCTION
Gender is defined as the range of characteristics of an individual and the factors which
differentiate between femininity and masculinity. The factors of gender depends upon the
biological sex , sex based social structures and gender identity. There are basically two types of
gender i.e. men and women. The other category which stands outside this category is gender
queer or non binary. These are known as third genders. According to a famous sexologist, John
Money a terminological distinction between biological sex and gender was introduced in the year
1955. The gender biasness is a major concept which dominates a majority of people (Cella, and
Manzoni,2017). A gender bias occurs in different aspects of society i.e. from workplace to the
political area. The following report will help in understanding different areas where there is
presence of gender biasness in society.
MAIN BODY
Gender is defined as the socially constructed traits of a women or men. These include
norms, relationships and roles between men and women. The gender differs from society to
society and this can be changed. When a person is born as a male or female from the beginning
of his or her life they are taught that how to behave and follow norms according to their sex or
gender. If a person is not able to establish gender norms then they may face stigma, social
exclusion or discriminatory practices and this all affects health. The norms, relations and roles of
people influences susceptibility of people to various diseases and health conditions. These affects
the enjoyment of physical health, mental health and wellbeing of an individual. This also have
bearing on access of people to health services. Femininity is defined as set of behaviours,
attributes and roles which are associated with women. Femininity is constructed socially and it is
made up of biologically created factors and socially defined factors (Goerres, and Jæger, 2016).
The various traits which are cited as feminine consists of empathy, sensitivity, empathy, humility
and gentleness. These traits are related to femininity and these depends on context, location and
are influenced by various cultural and social elements. Masculinity are defined as set of
behaviours, attributes, and roles related to men or boys. There are various standards of manliness
or masculinity in different cultures of the society. Both Females and males can exhibit masculine
behaviour and traits. Gender identity is defined as the personal conception of one self as female

or male. This aspect is associated with gender role i.e. defined as outward manifestation of
personality which reflects the gender identity. This can be explained by an example if a person
considers himself as a male and he is more comfortable in showing him as a male then the
gender of this person is identified as male. There are basically four types of gender in the society
which are masculine gender, feminine gender, common gender and neuter gender. The
masculine gender is the one by which a living being is considered as male. Feminine is one who
has female gender. The common gender reflects either male or female and neutral gender is one
that demonstrates neither male nor female. There are some theories which reflect gender
differences as the reflection of tendencies which are naturally evolved. Some sociobiologists
suggest this perspective as essentialism. This happens because gender is a part of nature or
essence of an individual’s social as well as biological make-up. A gender regime is defined as
the state of play of gender relations for a particular institution. The gender order is the
relationship between various gender regimes or the present state of play in the macro politics of
gender. There are many cases in society where there is gender biasness. This affects the society
in a negative manner. Gender discrimination contributes to sexism (Waltenegus, Enyew, and
Teklemikael Gebremeskel, 2017). There are many cases at workplace where female gender is
given favours. On the other hand, in few cases where masculine power is required society is
biased towards male gender. There are many laws for protecting the gender equality in country.
These laws helps in protecting rights of every individual and avoiding any kind of discrimination
in the society.
CONCLUSION
From the above report it is analysed that gender equality is important for the society. The
gender biasness should not be there in the society. This creates problem for individuals as
discrimination leads to demotivation in employees. It is important for all companies to create an
environment where all employees are treated equally and they should not be discriminated on the
basis of their gender.
