patriarchal structure of the society. The patriarchal beliefs and systems are validated by the
religious practice and the religious ideas.
The women are found to be dominated and subjugated in many walks of their lives,
and many factors contribute in this form of exploitation. One of the major factor contributing
to the existing gender discrimination practices, is education. The denial to partake in the
education system, made to the women, is perceived as one of the major factor contributing to
the forms of subjugation. As the women are denied of education, therefore they lack the
consensus and the awareness regarding the discriminations and the subjugations made against
them. Also, the existing political and the social conditionings also contribute to the existing
system and patterns of discrimination and exploitation made against the women. The denial
of women to step into the political domain, the social systems and the social laws, all
contribute to the subjugation of women (Vivar, 2016). Also, the customary laws of marriage
and the religious principles, are the major underlying factors contributing towards the
existing systems of exploitation of women. However, as mentioned before, the female section
of the society experiences discriminations and subjugations in all walks of life. Therefore, the

80% of the working women of the country are paid less than their male counterparts, despite
belonging to the same positions (Ferrant, Pesando & Nowacka, 2014). Secondly, women are
often faced with sexual harassments and ill treatments at the workplace. The MNCs are
structured with a good HR policies that practice the system of Zero Tolerance Policy at the
workplace, however, in the actual scenario, these policies are not addressed or implemented
properly. In a study undertaken by a non- profit organization, have shown that the almost
38% of the women have said to have experienced sexual harassments at the workplace
(Williams, 2013).
According to the researchers, women involved with sports are more probable to face
gender discriminations, both at home and on the ground. The basic notion is that a woman
cannot be an athlete, as it is not womanly, and therefore they must restrain themselves from
sports. Another major gendered aspect to sports is that certain sports are considered to be
exquisitely for women, and it is often seen that, sports like, soccer, cricket, basketball,
wrestling, are considered to be not sports for women, and therefore the women involved in
these games are frowned upon. Women are fighting eternally for their rights. The
discriminations in the field of sports based on the sex, are essentially seen to get initiated at
the home front, and many women have seen to have given up on their dreams (Berdahl,
Uhlmann, & Bai, 2015). Also, they have accounted to experience comments and have been
faced with situations of molestations by their coaches or their trainers. The sexist comments
and the ill behaviors, both on and off the field have led many dreams to the ashes.
The concept of Gender starts at home, therefore, it is likely, that the discriminations
against women will also get initiated at home. The gender gap starts at home, as there are
certain preconceived notions that certain rules are applicable for girls abut can be negotiated
with or be applicable for the boys. It is often seen that the parents have made priorities
between the son and their daughter. There are many instances where it is seen that the parents

have chosen their son to send home, and their daughter when faced with financial crisis
situations. There are also certain goods that are essentially made for the girls, and the
discrimination is even present at the daily chores of the household (Croft at al., 2014). There
are certain works at the household that are to be done by the male and certain works are to be
done by thee female counterpart. There is gender gap in the tax structure as well, which gas
created and popularized the term ‘Pink Tax”, that states that women have to pay less amount
of tax, since they are women. This is much disempowering for the whole female community
(Baxter & Brickell, 2014). It is especially true for the working women, as they are faced with
discriminating and exploiting situations in two folds, both at the workplace and at the home.
The situations is also worse for the house makers, as they are experienced with subjugated
positions at the home front.
The discriminations and subjugation against women are traditional, however, the
women all across the world are now mush aware of their positions and the social situations
and are seen to be continuously voicing for their rights, and they have strived up much, but
there are many more concepts and notions that ate yet to change and break.
