THE ROLE OF GENDER
Gender Mainstreaming Tools and Techniques Forum
The nature of the good practices are often used for the promotion of the equity and
sharing the experiences for the mainstreaming of the gender into the various policies and the
programmes that are being practiced by the member of the State Institutions (Hills, 2015). After
the comparisons drawn between the definitions and the sources that are termed as good practice,
best practices, or the lessons learned that are generally used interchangeably.
The examples of good practices in good practices in the mainstreaming of gender are
documented on how the equality of gender are made a central factor for the legislations,
policymaking, allocation of the resources, planning, monitoring, implementing and for the
evaluations of the programs and the projects.
Therefore, it has been observed that a good practice in the gender mainstreaming should
always reflect the broad range of the activities/initiatives that are undertaken by the relevant
actors in the support of the gender mainstreaming approach/strategy (Hills, 2015). At the same
time, it should also stress the long-lasting effect of gender mainstreaming objectives. Since the
long term objective of gender mainstreaming is that gender equality concerns will pervade all
policies, programmes and activities, documenting good practice in gender mainstreaming should
entail recording positive steps made towards achieving gender equality.
Therefore, it can be concluded, the various arguments put forward by the various forums
have given a clear picture about the effectiveness of the various policies and the laws that are
being applied for the equality of the gender.
