INTRODUCTION
Equality is explained as the quality or state of being equal with each and every person. It
is necessary because it allows people to work freely working within the organisation. In context
of the company, if they want to accomplish the targets then they are required to ensure that each
and every employees are being treated equally. The chosen organisation in this respective file is
BBC which is one of multinational company. The main discrimination which is mostly found in
this company is gender pay gap.
MAIN BODY
The issues which is being faced within organisation like BBC is Gender pay gap where
female employees are not being paid equal amount of salary as compare to male employees. It is
one of the problem which is being faced since longer period of time. In one of the past case, 170
female employees demanded that company should apologies for salary differences and culture of
differences (BBC gender pay gap: 170 female employees demand apology over salary differences
and 'culture of discrimination', 2018.). Also, it was found that the male employee who have
joined recently but working on the same post have higher amount of salary as compared to male
employees. It is one of the problem which has been reducing the value of female employees
within the company.
As, it was one of the problem which has been creating serious problem for the company
but still they were unable to solve it out. They had different reasons for resolving the issues such
as in first instance company deal with some of the individual female employees where they
convenience them that they will increase their salary. It was the problem which was found in each
and every position in the company which has been creating more problems. As it has become one
of the national issues so in order to overcome the problem company have decided to do
commitment that in future each and every employees will be paid equally. In order to overcome
the problem, they have given the statement that company doesn't comply with equality act as they
just want to promote female employees by giving them the opportunity to achieve different
milestones. In some of the cases, even BBC paid female employees back pay amount to sort out
the issues which they were facing within the company (Klarsfeld and et. al., 2016). Even in
current situation, they have been suffering from this problem because they have the concept that

male employees can be connected with the company for longer period of time but female
employees required number of leaves in different situations.
It was one of the problem which was faced by BBC where they could have taken different
steps to solve it out as they have the policies that there will not be equality for distributing the
salary (Coe, Wiley and Bekker, 2019). So, in this case company should have decided that they
will address and clear out each and every staff that their will be inequality in salary of employees
and that can be in case of both male and female employees. While in second situation company
also have the option that they can take the help of regulation to solve out the problem. In law
gender pay gap has been not discussed in detail due to which company have the option to take
decisions of own.
In order to resolve the problem, they could have given the condition to female employees
to attain some of the targets through which company can also be benefited and even their pay
scale also increase at a greater speed (The BBC has a gender pay gap problem. Here's how to fix
it, 2018). The situation was out of control where question were raised on the company but
company had the option to prove that they work on the policy where pay scale will not be same
as even they are also involved in the work of freelancing in which pay scale is much higher then
normal pay scale. By looking at the decision which were taken by the company, it can be easily
said that they were unable to tackle the problem in effective manner due to which they have to
suffer from different issues and problem. They could have used different strategies to overcome
from the problem such as they had the option to do discussion with different department that how
they overcome the gender pay gap issues without decreasing the value of a company.
While talking about the current situation of the company they have mostly overcome from
the problem which they are facing by increasing the pay scale of female employees where it was
necessary. In some of the situations they have given the justification where were valid an
according to that inequality in pay scale was valid and by looking at all of this things it can be
understood that in some of the cases company have recovered (Bendl and et. al., 2015). But, they
had they option to give more justification to their statements so that problem could have been
sorted out easily. While talking about the crisis or issues, it is one of the leadership and
management problem because they are the one who have the responsibility to take each and every
decision and here they were unable to deal with the situation which were raised in front of them.
