Section Three: Literature sources searched
What do you mean by the concept of gender discrimination at workplace?
According to the Wolfe (2020), The concept of gender discrimination within workplace is
defined as the treatment of staff and employees in different manner. In simple words, this
means males and females working in the company are treated unequally. There are some
companies which provide unfair treatment to male and female. There is sexual orientation or
gender identity before the working within company. There are various levels within the
organisation in which discrimination can be occurring. This may start from recruitment and
selection and ends at promoting the mail candidate over other female candidate. Gender based
discrimination can also happen when the companies promoting a non-qualified person just
because of his or her gender.
What are the negative affect of gender discrimination on performance of Tesco?
According to the Harrington-Sullivan (2016), There is negative impact on workplace due to
the gender discrimination. Employees are affected badly due to the negative environment
provided to them while working. Some of the negative impact on workplace of Tesco due to
the gender discrimination include decline in productivity, high employee turnover and
mismanagement of business operations. Loss of productivity is occurred due to tu the gender
discrimination as the management of company has to deal with other issues like harassment,
bullying, dissatisfaction of employees. There is high employee turnover due to this issue as
there can be aggressive work environment which can be affected due to the increase in gender

discrimination.
What are the different ways for elimination of gender discrimination at Tesco workplace?
As per the view point of Fuhl (2019), Gender discrimination is a considerable issue and it has
to be managed by the companies in proper manner. This issue can be eliminated by different
ways within a place. Starting from providing transparent and equal opportunities to women in
order to perform senior responsibilities and roles within company. There must be
implementation of gender neutral recruitment process. Companies must provide salaries
equally to both male and female. proper training and development sessions provided to staff
and workers will help in improving skills and abilities of all workers. All the above mentioned
ways can be used by Tesco to eliminate the issue of gender discrimination at workplace.
