Introduction
A company analysis is done by the investors in order to attain deeper information
about the company (Chandra, 2017). This analysis includes information on the company’s
products, its competitive strategies, its profitability through its annual reports, its products,
rivals, markets and others aspects. General electronics has been in news due to the investor’s
questions about electing revamped board. The aim of the study is to carry out a company
analysis of General Electronics.
Discussion on the Company
General Electronics is a multinational conglomerate from America with its
headquarters in Boston (Demirbag & Yaprak, 2015). The company’s operations can be
divided into many segments’ comprising of- health care, finance and capital, power, lighting,
gas and oil and others. The major products of the company are that of electric motors,
finance, oil and gas, water, software, electrical distribution and others (GE, 2019). The major
capabilities of the company are that it provides diverse range of products, robust research and
development department, a strong brand. The company’s strong research and development
activities provide competitive advantage to the company (Bronzini & Piselli, 2016). Such as
GE’s healthcare segment uses innovation technologies in equipment to treat patients in a
better way. The company faces fierce competition from various other companies in different
segments such as 3M challenges the company’s innovative technologies. It occupies about
$96000 market capital and shares outstanding is worth $8.0B. The company is required to file
its annual report with the Securities and Exchange commission (SEC) to let the investors
have an idea about the performance of the company (Johnston & Petacchi, 2017). The annual
report of the company shows that it is aiming to improve its financial position through

various strategies. The strategies will include getting a credit rating that is sustainable,
reduction in the overall net debt of the company, to reduce the debt-equity ratio of the
company below 4:1 and to provide dividend rates that is in parity with the industry levels.
The company has currently been in news because of the act by its investors for electing
revamped board (GE, 2019). The company is presently facing problems because it used to
allow its board members for long tenures that made them ineffective because of the security
of job position through long tenures. Now the investors of the company have decided to
overcome this problem by electing new individuals for as board members with a maximum of
2.5 years tenure. This act is aimed to improve the market performance of the company. The
firm’s website gives a concise idea about its activities, its reporting and it has a search bar for
helping the customers easily find what they are looking for.
Conclusion
From the above discussion it can be concluded that a lot of information can be gained
about the company through its analysis. This information’s relate to its profitability, its
products, its capabilities, its competitive strategy and others. These information are valuable
for all stakeholders especially investors so that they can take decisions regarding investment
