INTRODUCTION
Personal Interview refers to the process of selecting a candidate for any particular job
position which involves an exchange of views between the interviewer and the interviewee
through a face-to-face interaction (Holstein and Gubrium, 2016). In the following report, a
transcript for an interview of General Manager at Premier Inn Hotels is being prepared along
with an assessment of the strengths and weaknesses of the personal interview process of

Interview for job position- General Manager
Interview transcript:
Interviewee- Hello Sir, Can I come in?
Interviewer- Sure, come in and make yourself comfortable. Please have a seat.
Interviewee- Thank You, Sir!
Interviewer- So, please introduce yourself!
Interviewee- My name is Richard Geller and I am 34 years of age. I am a person who likes to
constantly innovate things and seek better alternatives in my day-to-day life.
Interviewer- So, we have gotten your application for the position of General Manager at our
Hotel. I would like to know if you have any prior information about the roles and
responsibilities of a General Manager?
Interviewee- Sure, Sir! I do have some existing information about the job responsibilities of
General Manager which primarily includes managing the revenue and the profits of the
establishment.
Interviewer- Yes, but that is only a brief description of the job responsibility of General
Manager. So, General Manager of the hotel is responsible for managing and supervising the
operations, training and motivating the employees to complete the tasks assigned to them in
the most effective manner, maintaining healthy relationships with the customer and ensuring
high level of customer satisfaction and implementing strategies for maximisation of
organisational productivity and revenues.

Interviewee- That sounds amazing, Sir! I am certain I will be able to execute and fulfil every
one of these responsibilities using my skills and experience.
Interviewer- That’s great. Can you tell me something about your previous experience in the
hospitality industry?
Interviewee- Sure, Sir! I am working in the hospitality industry for the past five years including
an additional two years of internship. During these years, I have worked on many diverse
roles within the industry which has given me a lot of exposure and experience of providing
the best quality of service to the customers.
Interviewer- That sounds perfect! On the basis of examination of your CV and the interaction
which we have had, I think you have the necessary skills and competencies along with a
very good experience in the industry which makes you the perfect candidate for the position
of General Manager at Premier Inn Hotels. So, congratulations on getting selected for the
job!
Interviewee- I am really thrilled Sir and very over-whelmed at the same moment. Can I get
some details about my salary and compensation?
Interviewer- Sure, your starting package will be 55,000 pounds per month and you will be
entitled to receive the job-benefits of General Manager which includes an additional
incentive based on your performance and productivity.
Interviewee- That’s amazing, Sir!
Interviewer- Our HR team will contact you for sharing the further details of employment.
Interviewee- Sure, Sir.

Strengths and weakness of implementation of personal interview process of selection for the
management of Premier Inn Hotels are as follows:
Strengths: Response rate for a personal interview process is much higher and better. It provides an opportunity for the management to determine the views and opinions a
candidate has on any particular topic.

On the basis of above discussion, it can be concluded that the process of personal interview
of selection has many advanatages as well as disadvantages for the management of Premier Inn
Hotels such as better in-depth evaluation but a timely process. The management of the company
can consider both positive and negative aspects for choosing a better approach of selecting a
candidate,
