material. They can also be spread through inheritance in family lineages where there has been
historical occurrence of such diseases. The conditions are several with each having unique
characteristics and effects on the bodies of those who are suffering from the given conditions.
However, the diseases can divided into two broad categories whereby we have; those that occur
as a result of deletion of genetic materials and those that are as a result of duplication of genetic
material. The genomic condition that would be focused in the conference would be sickle cell
disease which has been one of the key genetic related illness affecting the community .It
comprises of a number of inherited red blood disorders. Those who are diagnosed with this kind
of disorder normally have an unusual protein that is found in their red blood cells. The disease
conditions start to manifest themselves at an early age during childhood and it is normally
characterized by low number of the red blood cells in the body. In addition it is also
accompanied by repeated infections and also periodic pains although the symptoms vary from
one individual to the other ( Benenson & Porter,2018).
The specific genomic assessment considerations that I will put in place include the background
of the family from which the patient originates from so as to ascertain whether the traits are
inherited from the family background. I would also consider the pain management means that
can be put in place to ensure that patients don’t experience more pain than they can bear. Also, I
would consider cost effectiveness of the anticipated treatment option recommended for the
member of the given community (Lew, 2018).
