Karl Marx is widely known among the historians as one of the greatest philosophers,
thinker, historian, political theorist, journalist, economist as well as a social revolutionary
himself. He is widely known for this theories on the concepts of economy, capitalism and the
society as a whole. He had been described as one of the best known sociological theorists in
the world. The basis of Marx’s work in economics have been used in the understanding of the
concept of the labour and the capital and the related economic thought. The essay will be
analysing the ideology of Karl Marx.
The purpose of this essay is to analyse one of the ideologies of Karl Marx and his
theories.
This essay will focus on the importance of The German Ideology Theory of Karl
Marx to understand how the theory applies to his ideologies itself. The German Ideology has
been stated by Karl Marx along with Frederic Engels tries to explain how the concept of
history differs from that of the Feurbachian materialism and also the concept of the Hegelian
idealism and how these are related to each other (Marx,2019). These German philosophers
are of the opinion that the Consciousness and ideology are considered to be reflection of the
material relations, which is also related to the materials of production. This had been
mentioned in the article, that the readers of the ideology must be aware of the concepts of the
trade relations, laboursand other factors which are related to the concept of the economic lifer
itself. This mainly comprises of the explanation of the economic life of the individuals (Marx,
2019).
In addition to this concept, The German Ideology stated by Karl Marx also states to
the readers about the importance of the historical materialism and how such historical
materialism can be understood by the readers of the ideology through the application of the
materialistic life of the individuals. The article also informs the readers about the innocent

and childlike fantasises of the Young-Hegelian fantasies which make up the concept of the
Hegelian principles in the society itself. Tis ideology therefore refers to the concept of the
Hegelian fantasies states to the readers about the concept of the materialistic pleasures of the
rich and the prosperous people of the society (Marx,2019). This is because of the fact that
Germany had experienced an unprecented growth of the revolution during the earlier years.
The ideology of Marx and Engels had been used to describe how large empress had grown in
the country. This has often been compared with that of French Revolution in which the
characters defeated one another and occupied their places in the country. All these changes
took place in the country at the time of Marx and Engels and it is these theories which both of
them have mentioned in The German Ideology (Marx, 2019)
Thus, it can be seen that Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels have indeed made a great
contribution to the ideologies and the way that these ideologies work for the researchers and
the historians themselves. This makes it one of the most essential articles for the readers of
the articles.
The philosophy which was put forward by the Marxist thinker Stuart hall, stated that the
ruling class of a society decisively influenced the culture of the society. The theory stated that
the beliefs and the perspectives which were owned by the ruling class became inevitably a
part of the society. The term was developed by Italian Theorist Antonio Gramsci and later
Stuart Hall added more significance to it (Marx, 2019). According to him, cultural hegemony
functioned within the society as an invisible force. It was harder to resist as there were hardly
any evidences of it existing. They were even manifested and propagated by the entertainment
culture of the society and found its way into people’s consciousness.
