INTRODUCTION
Individual reflection is the good opportunity to analyse all the events, feelings &
thoughts. Every person have different perception and they respond accordingly (Börjesson,
Cedersund and Bengtsson, 2015). Basically it is depend upon your opinion, beliefs, experience
etc. Individual have to justify their opinion in order to support their statements. This report cover
various topics such as challenges in medicine industry and for leaders to follow effective
leadership style in order to achieve business goals & objectives.
MAIN BODY
1. Summery of key points which consider into presentation
At the time making presentation we analyse that medicine industry face huge challenges
regarding product quality, health & safety, use of appropriate standards & regulations etc.
Basically, in order to face these challenges organization have to follow effective leadership style
that is also one of the biggest challenge for leaders. In this group presentation we mention three
leadership style and of the best style can be selected by the CEO of Johnson & Johnson (J&J)
company to enhance their performance. Alex Gorsky CEO of J&J adopt democratic leadership
style due to increase participation of employees in the business activities. Company face issue
regarding product quality of Baby power that is iconic brand. J&J promote this product for
woman hygiene and it linked with ovarian cancer. Legal proceeder declared that Johnson &
Johnson know their association but they failed to inform customers (Leadership challenges at
Johnson & Johnson company, 2019). Company also face various challenges regarding product
quality or product labelling. Alex Gorsky follow democratic leadership style to reduce these
issues from organization. By using this style, leaders set a meeting for making any decision in
respect of business operations. Every implementation of ideas required open discussion which
helps in generating argument and it can be in favour or not. After deep analysis, we all
understood that before executing any idea managers have to take suggestion or feedback from
the people who linked with their organization.
In order to maintain effective relation, participative environment managers use
democratic style which is collaboration between leaders & team members. Alex Gorsky make
sure that, he build a team with good people but the ultimate decision will be taken by them.
Another thing it that, he wanted to create atmosphere where team members can debate on a

particular point. It helps the CEO to identify various challenges which can impact the growth of
business. By using this style, leaders encourage their employees in order to enhance their
performance which further helps in increasing productivity as well as profitability. I also found
that argument will provide different point of view of employees (Ellis and et.al., 2014). So at the
end, manager have to make sure that they understand each & every aspect of their team members
and provide them direction in a single way where they speak in one voice or perform for
common goal. In the end, ultimate decision taken by team leader in respect of stakeholders
benefits. At the time or collecting information for this presentation, we all group members
understand that leadership is the process of learning new things along the way. At the time of
performing operational activities of taking any decision they have to ensure that, it is not
important what I do but what about people who work with you to achieve something. Just to
learn new skills is not about individual contribution in the organization but contribute in the
group activity where each person different from others but they all have common goals. I see
many examples where leaders leave the organization because of various challenges which
business faces (Miraglia and Asselin, 2015). As per my understanding, leaders & managers have
to make decision after analysing internal or external impact with involvement of every individual
which perform their to achieve business goals & objectives.
2. Reflective report
Preparing group presentation with my team members help me to complete our project and
by using Gibbs model I am able to show whole process and experience which we all face during
this project (GIBBS Model for Reflective, 2019). This model include six steps which is discussed
below:
Description: Here me and my team mated collected information for group presentation
and it totally based on Johnson & Johnson company. Along with this, we all conduct
research about challenges which faced by medicine industry because J&J deal in this
sector. In this presentation I mentioned various leadership style and in the end which
style used by the organization and that is democratic leadership style which followed by
Alex Gorsky CEO of company.
Feeling: At the time of making this report, we all discussed that leadership is that
important which impact individual performance as well as business operations. I am the

leader of this group so I feel very responsible and accountable for each action regarding
this project.
Evaluation: Overall experience was good because we collect information from internet,
articles and many more places (RVan Wart and Denhardt, 2019). At the time of preparing
presentation members having different opinion regarding content, PPT template and
who's going first, last etc. We all enjoy and perform together that helps me to understand
team management skills and why it is important.
Analysis: I learn many things such as how to handle whole team make them prepare to
work together. Because every individual have different personality, attitude or value
which can create dispute in the team. In the group presentation, two members start
arguing because they are not agreed with each others opinion. I said that, main objective
of this presentation to score high marks and enhance our learning, so best suitable
suggestion will be taken.
Conclusion: According to me, major task was to collect information and how to present
in front of our mentors. Along with this, to manage whole team also a big task because
each of them have different perception or way or work (Vanderhoven, Schellens and
Valcke, 2016). So make them together and prepare to achieve common goals is big
responsibility for me and according to me I think I am doing better job to handle them.
Action plan: For the future projects, I already ensure that what actions I have to take
because it further helps me to avoid same problems in the group task. For group
assessment, I have to select those people who interested and take initiative to complete
any project. Because people become dependent on others because they know marketing
will same for each members so they does not perform accordingly.
With the help of this model, I am able to justify my self that what problems I face and
what things I learn at the time of preparing group presentation. Major issues is to handle team
and manage all work accordingly without creating any problem or conflict in the group
members.
CONCLUSION
From the above discussion, it has been concluded that if any organization wanted to
successful and improve performance of business operations. So they have to use effective
leadership style such as democratic. It helps the organization to understand that each employee

involvement in the decision making process will helps in improving their efficiency or
effectiveness. With the help of Gibbs model, individual able to express their feelings, thoughts
and opinion at the time of performing in the group task. Personal reflation helps the individual to
learn or improve their knowledge such as leading whole team and manage them effectively to
complete their task on given deadline.
