Reflective Report: Gibbs Model Analysis of Research Experience

Gibbs model of reflection
Gibbs is a reflective model that is used for expressing an individual's experience. In the
following scenario, a research is conducted by me in which I had to analyse the experience I
gained while completing the research. It is analysed by me that I am very good while conducting
the research but there were some cases in which I failed. Reflection is written in order to evaluate
and analyse different areas which can be enhanced for conducting effective researches in future.
I have analysed that my research skills and good enough to achieve research results in given time
frame. There are different models of reflection used by researchers for writing their experience.
In the following research, investigator is using Gibbs model of reflection that expresses
research experience. Different steps used in this model are explained below-
Description – I conducted this research for analysing the challenges faced by financial
institutions in emerging market. Conducting this research helped me to gain experience for
enhancing my research skills and abilities. These will help me to grow and develop my future
career. I have completed this research effectively and within specified time frame. This research
was conducted for knowing about different challenges that financial organisations face when
they are expanding market share in emerging markets. This research helped me to develop skills
and abilities and maintain them for conducting strong researches in future. I have developed
research aims and objectives so that there is bifurcation of project aim. This will support me to
clarify the research aim and complete research in less time. I have gained different problems
while conducting the research which includes The impact of changes in productivity from the
period 2013-2019, The decomposition of these productivity changes into the catching-up and
frontier-shift effects and Determining the underlying cause of gain/loss as a result of a particular
productivity improvement/failure or the effectiveness of the scale by spreading further
decomposition of the catching up effect.
Feelings - There were times when I felt low while conducting the research. Most difficult part
while conducting the research was data collection. I had to search the data from different sources
such as secondary and primary in order to gather relevant and appropriate data. This is a very
tiring process as I have to search through different sources for collecting data of different
financial institutions. I collected the data in order to evaluate and compare the challenges faced
by different financial institutions when they are entering into different markets. The scenario of
managing data collection was effective as it helped in managing the effectiveness of getting

desired results for research. It is important for me to manage positivity within myself for
managing the research work properly. This will help me to reach desired results in less time. I
have always motivated myself while working for research. Moreover, there are various skills
developed within me while conducting the research. This has helped me to manage the esearch
work and complete it properly.
Evaluation - I have analysed that there is need of managing the conduction of proper researches
so that I can get good grades. As a researcher, my overall experience was good and I developed
skills and abilities. I managed to tackle all situations calmly and achieved the research objectives.
These have helped me to manage my abilities and grabbing good opportunities for completing
the researches. It was necessary for me to handle negative situations patiently as these helped me
to accomplish research steps in appropriate time. I have analysed that my research skills are good
and I can conduct research in a more prominent manner after increasing my skills and abilities.
Analysis - I have analysed the research situation effectively and managed to complete the
research in specified time. I have focused upon methodology part while conducting this research.
It helped me to manage the efficiency and effectiveness of research operations. While conducting
this research, I used methodology which is used for implementing strategy of breaking down
problem into small segments. I have evaluated that conducting the research properly is very
important and breaking own whole project into small activities helps in completing the project.
Conclusion – This research was a complex one and I had to put a lot of efforts for completing
the research activities. It is evaluated that managing the research work does not include nay hard
and fast rule but all the research steps must be completed effectively. It is seen that I have good
communication and research skills. This has helped me to complete the activities properly. This
report provides me help to know about the problems faced by financial institutions. It is essential
for me to manage the work of research so that desired results are attained. Methodology used in
this research is secondary research. It was not easy for me to collect the resources from different
websites, journals, articles and complete the research in less time. I have researched a lot while
collecting data related to financial institutions.
Action Plan - There is a proper of managing research that is helpful for developing a proper
plan for completing the research. It is seen that I have prepared a proper plan that will include
different research activities. This will help me to manage and evaluate the effectiveness of
different project activities. This research has helped me to manage the work in effective manner

and develop skills for conducting effective researches in future. I have developed various skills
including academic preparation, life planning, skills and research platform that will provide me
support for completing the whole work properly. I have made a plan in which I have analysed the
sources from which I can gather and collect data for research completion. These include internet,
books, journals, surveys, online websites, experiments, etc. This action plan included different
ways for managing the research activities. I have prepared a strong planing for conducting the
research and managing the work.
