Kensington College Unit 11 Research Proposal: Equality and Diversity

This research proposal investigates the role of equality and diversity in eliminating workplace discrimination by addressing the glass ceiling. The study aims to understand the concept of the glass ceiling, identify challenges faced by Asda due to workplace discrimination, and explore how equality and diversity practices can be used to remove workplace discrimination. The study will focus on 10 managers of Asda using a probability sampling method. The main aim behind conducting this study is to develop understanding regarding the ways
through which glass ceiling can be removed from the workplace so that each individual
employee get equal opportunity to grow and get developed. Other than that, this study also
help in developing understanding regarding the manner in which equality and diversity practices
support in eliminating the glass ceiling among employees that further support in reducing the
workplace discrimination among employees at workplace.

According to the information presented by McEvoy, S. L., 2018. , the workplace discrimination is one
of the major issue that an organisation faces which in turn affect the performance of its employees
and demoralise them which in turn influence the efficiency and quality of work. The main reason
behind workplace discrimination is glass ceiling that usually women or employees from minority
grow up mainly faces within organisation that creates barriers within their work.

Research methodology is that section of investigation which represent several tools and methods that
are used by investigator to perform the research in effective manner. the methodologies used in this
research are mentioned below:
Research type: The investigation is performed using either qualitative or quantitative method of
research. Among these the quantitative investigation method will be adopted that help in gathering and
resenting data in numerical form to present accuracy about particular phenomenon.
Source of data collection: The data within an investigation is gathered from two sources such as primary

and secondary sources of data collection. In present study investigator will use both the sources where
primary data will be gathered through questionnaire and secondary data will be collected using online
sources such as books, journals, articles etc.
Sampling method: In order to gather the primary information the sampling size will be form using
probability sampling method where respondents will be selected on random basis which allow
researcher in avoiding bias behaviour in selecting respondents. The sample size is around 10 managers
of Asda.
