INTRODUCTION
 Taking social action towards global equity means to embrace the
need to inculcate social equity in diversity and inclusion of all races
and socio-economic backgrounds.
 The understanding of these values are key to the fundamental
mission of bringing about change through small but significant
actions.
 Individual and systemic biases based on various socio-economic
prejudices are the vices that needs to be eradicated.
 In this chapter we will explore what it means to be a global citizen in
terms of social action.

WHAT SOCIAL ACTION MEANS
 Social action may be defined as any action by an individual or group
who are seeking to promote any kind of social change for the
betterment of the society as a whole.
 It is not necessary that the action should be big. Any small change is
a step towards the right direction.
 The idea is to promote social action in the service of social justice.

ACTION FOR SOCIAL DIVERSITY
 Social diversity may be defined as the aspect of a society whereby
individuals from separate geographical locations are segregated
based upon their language, culture, ethnicity, caste, race, physical
features etc.
 Social diversity is an important aspect of any global community and it
is also the basis of prejudices and racism prevalent in the world today.
 The meaning of equality in diversity is something that needs to be
ingrained in every educational or work environment across the globe.
 To bring about equality in diversity, social action is important.

ACTION FOR SOCIAL EQUITY
 The concept of social equity is ancient but it is as prevalent now as it
was thousands of years back.
 The true meaning of social equity is to bring about social, economic
and political justice in the society that we live in.
 A sense of social justice is necessary in every college administration
as it helps students from various ethnicities to study in an equal
environment free from biases based on various factors like
caste, race, language or economical background.
 Social changes that bring about social equity are the need of the
hour.

ACTION FOR SOCIAL INCLUSION
 Social inclusion is defined as the fair inclusion of all individuals of the
society in the ongoing activities irrespective of their ethnicity, caste
or any other biases prevalent due to their socio-economic
background.
 The issue of social inclusion is a big concern across educational
institutions and workplaces all over the world.
 Social inclusion should become a norm for every educational
institution.
 Through various actions such as an inclusive academic framework,
policies and special initiatives, organizations may help the cause of
social inclusion in a big way.
