Global Citizenship refers to an idea which states that, all people have rights and civic
responsibilities which means any activity that addresses problems faced by community. Every
day in the world various changes occur and inactivity is the major barrier of any development
effort. Hence, the newly introducing idea of Global Citizenship is an approach of 21st Century
that also involves some principles of global responsibilities & accountability. As we all know
that everything that humans does is in response to the environment, therefore, our lives are
defined by what is around us. This shows that, the environment of this world is interconnected,
therefore, global citizenship effort will affect the community as a whole. In recent years because
of increase in poverty, human rights abuse, nature's degradation & global violence, there is a
need of expertise global responsibilities. Therefore, an idea of global citizenship is necessary to
take actions to create a more sustainable world. (Dower and Williams, 2016).
Additionally, it also nurtures personal respect & honour for others. Apart from this,
individuals are motivated to think deeply about what is equitable and what will reduce harm to
the planet. It has been discovered that UK funds stated Global Citizenship as a person who
understands respect, values diversity and interrelations and also has the capability to challenge
injustice (Dutta, 2017). Therefore, in order to become a global citizen, someone needs to be
dynamic to fix the goal in life, be confident, and open minded. As per my opinion, the idea of
Global Citizenship is an appropriate approach in this world of modern era. This is because, it is
something that people must grasp authentically if they want make a difference in this world. I
agree with this idea, as the citizen can tackle a problem of increased socio-economic inequality.
