This assignment is an attempt to define the leadership styles of an individual which makes
him or her different from others. It will also include potential challenges or issues faced by
people while leading others. The entire discussion is made through a self-reflection which
helps people to understand how to apply leadership styles effectively.
Main Body
Global citizenship is an idea which provides rights or civic responsibilities to people; it
comes with sensibilities. It is essential for individuals to recognize their own abilities or
styles thus to manage others effectively (Akcil, et al., 2017, pp- 120, Para - 2). As a leader, I
get to know that people have different nature or behaviour which is quite challenging to
manage. Leadership develops from a person inside out, and it hinders are felt not only an
individual but also community and workplace as well. Being a leader, I have identified that
some crucial characteristics, i.e. self-discipline, spiritually, integrity, honesty, open-
communication, legacy building and so on which helps leaders to perform their job in well-
being manner. I always being honest which isn’t easy but provide me correct path and
success in my career. Ability to communicate or interact with others assists me to present my
ideas to them as well as influence my subordinates to accomplish any specific task or bring
change in society. I realized that the power of communication is able to understand
individuals and their views or opinions towards a particular area of consideration. I have
always been involved my subordinates in the decision-making process, it helps me to build a
healthy and positive relationship with them.
In my career, I always follow a situational leadership style. Every leader wants to create a
high-performance workforce, to do so they must be able to inspire or motivate followers thus

can guide my followers by rendering them a sense of meaning and potential challenges.
Although, determination of leadership style was quite robust as it requires the sacrifice of
personal gains and high standards of ethical conduct.
Situational leadership style – I found that transformational leadership style cannot work in
all aspects or circumstances, and then I followed situational leadership which intends to act as
per the demand of the situation. This leadership style refers that all cases or scenarios are
different; thus there is no specific leadership style which suits in all situations. While
applying this leadership style, I motivated my subordinates to adopt all changes. I get to
know that it is essential for leaders to move from to another leadership style; it leads to meet
the changing needs of the organization and employees effectively. Before implementing this
situational leadership at communities, I improved my insight to understand when to act or
respond towards change, which leadership tactics will fit for each new paradigm and so on
(Shiel and Jones, 2016, pp – 20, Para - 4). Hence, by applying this approach in global
citizenship, I will be able to perform optimistically and enthusiastically; it results effectively
foster the spirit of teamwork as well as the pledge
Henceforth, among all these leadership styles situational leadership is best fit in the global
environment as it will provide me with an opportunity to respond positively towards changes
and grab better future prospects. For instance – as a leader of a community, numerous issues
are being usually occurred over there; hence situational leadership style helps me to allow
open suggestion and society issues. It helps me to take collection actions by eradicating
injustice and eliminate inequalities.

As a global citizen, I found two significant challenges with leadership, such as –
 The major challenge which I have faced is managing people of diverse nature,
behaviour, values and morals. In social environment, wide range of folks live, thus to
tackle them individually is quite difficult because all of them have distinct
perspectives.
 Establishing equality in a community by understanding the preferences of people. The
reason behind this, different perspectives of people makes them resistance to accept
changes.
Strategies to address the challenges
In order to understand these challenges, I can apply specific strategy or tactics which helps
me to overcome with them. Firstly, I focused on being proactive; it allows me to understand
the entire situation or problem occurred in a community and then waiting for others' response.
For this purpose, I can also see what makes a group nervous and then take corrective actions
accordingly. Being a leader of global citizenship, my motive is to bring all together; in this, I
make myself able to face all conflicts in earlier situations so as to resolve them in best
possible (Miao, et. al., 2018, pp – 465, para - 3).
Along with this, in order to address challenges of leadership, I interacted with a group of
people personally and recognized their problems or issues which they are facing in daily life.
For implementing equality in communities, I can implement specific changes, i.e. women
education and empowerment as well as other social actions. It compels individuals’ to do
extraordinary things by tapping into their leadership skills or making a difference.
