9/11 IMPACT ON THE WORLD 1
The 9/11 attack is considered to be one of the most dreadful terrorist attacks in the world. Al-
Qaeda, a terrorist organization crashed two planes that they had hijacked into the World
Trade Center in New York on September 11, 2001 (Mirror.co.uk). Another passenger plane
crashed to the Pentagon Building which was in Washington and another plane crashed in a
field close to Shanksville in Pennsylvania. This terrorist attack took the lives of more than
3000 people and more than 6000 were injured (Mirror.co.uk). This attack shook everyone up
and changed the world and had a huge impact on the people of America and the world.
After this attack the government of the United States of America put forth several policies
that had more far-reaching effects which can still be seen now. The then president George W
Bush after this attack declared “war on terror” which meant that any country which would aid
and harbor terrorism United States would attack that country (Foster et al.). After this attack
the Government carried out certain surveillance measures by methods like wire-tapping. The
country pressurized companies to provide with Meta Data and personal communications to
the government of the country which showed the country infringing on the civil liberties of
the companies (Roy). In the year 2003 the government of the United States of America
invaded Iraq with the help of other countries, Australia, Poland and UK claiming that the
government there was supporting terrorist activities (Carruth and Hernandez). However,
according to scholar and researcher Anatol Lieven, it would have been difficult for Bush to
invade Iraq without the 9/11 attacks and if the attacks did not occur Bush anyway would have
invaded Iraq (Dumbrell). According to Tony Blair, former Prime Minister of United
Kingdom ISIS would not have come into existence if there was no Iraq War (Nytimes.com).
ISIS is a terrorist organization that till date has been indulging in terrorist activities which has
resulted in destruction of many countries and has costed many innocent lives which has had a

huge impact on the world. The travel laws and immigration policies have become stricter.
This has had negative impacts on the innocent Muslims who are often labeled as terrorists
and are discriminated because the people who belonged to the group Al-Qaeda were all
Muslims. The innocent Muslims had been humiliated and still now there are many people
who discriminate Muslims because of these attacks categorizing them as terrorists. Hate
crimes grew against the Muslims and are still committed. 9/11 attacks has resulted in
reduction of international coordinated steps or action and international co-operation
(Abdullah). The US later captured the mastermind behind the attacks Osama bin Laden that
had lead t the strained relationship of America with Pakistan (Messerschmidt and Achim).
Throughout Pakistan and the Middle East there have been protests against USA and has
continued over decades after the 9/11 attacks.
The 9/11 attacks had been one of the most shocking and drastic attacks that had killed several
innocent people which had a huge impact on the United States of America in terms of their
economy, health and on the minds of citizens. However this attack had not only changed the
