Assignment 1 Blog
Activity 6, week 2
Section 1- From the readings of the following weekly activities I have learned about the concept
of context culture, where I learned about the two types of Context cultures, high context culture
and low context culture. In high context culture bright colors are used and in low context culture
light and simple colors are and very less language is used.
Section 2- The example of McDonalds can be taken for explaining the use of context cultures,
the website of UK which a low context culture country the colors used for the website is simple
while the website of India which is a country high context culture the color used is very bright.
Activity 5 week 3
Section 1- The learning from the activity was about the model for corporate culture change. I
learned that the culture of any organization can be changed as per the employee, customer and
the culture of the country. Changing the culture of the organization will require effective
leadership.
Section 2- Many organizations that I have read about have changed their working culture to suit
the culture of the country, one such organization is Mc Donald’s that modified itself according to
the culture of India and did not sell beef products in India. McDonald’s sells beef products in
other countries. Companies have Toyota have their own working culture which they have
modified from time to time to suit the needs of their manufacturing system, like the Toyota
Production System.

activities, mainly the advertising and PR activities where the communication is done is done with
the public and the customers. In Week 3 activities 5 the idea of Peter Drucker is being criticized
by the author who thinks that the culture of any organization can be changed through effective
leadership, which is completely opposite of the idea of Peter Drucker who thinks that the culture
of a company is culture of the country, it should not be changed.

Context Culture (Week 2 activity 6)
According to me the concept of high and low context culture can be applied in the
various activities of advertising, PR, Supplier and customer relationship. According to the
concept there is very minimum use of language, the low context culture believes in having a to
the point information, colors, images, and descriptive information. Examples of low context
culture countries are USA and Scandinavia. In marketing companies that are, operating in the
international market will use the concept of context culture for designing their website for
different countries. The colors can be selected and used based on the information about the
context cultures of different countries. Colors are very significant in different cultures, colors
mean differently in different cultures. The color red symbolizes danger in the western countries
at the same time colors at the same time red is considered auspicious in India, it is a sign of
celebration in China (Schwartz 2013).
This information can be used for running the various marketing campaigns in the western
countries. While selecting the colors therefore requires the marketers to be very careful they
cannot use the color red for their marketing campaigns in western countries as it would not be
effective enough to attract the customers (Jayamaha, Wagner and Grigg 2014). The color red can
be used for the marketing campaigns in India as color red is considered auspicious there more
and more people will be show interest in the marketing campaigns. McDonalds is an example
where the context of concept culture is very effectively used for designing the website. The
website of UK is very simple and use of light colors can be seen. The use of bright colors are
seen in the official website of McDonalds. Market research is needed for designing the website

for any country because a lot of factors are considered that are related to cross-culture
(Greenfield 2015).
Changing Models for Changing Corporate culture week 3 activity 5
In my opinion the author correctly says that corporate culture can be changed if the
leadership is efficient. The leaders can use the various models of corporate culture change, it will
be very beneficial for them. Corporate culture describes the reason behind every course of action
in an organization and the reason why things cannot be done. According to Peter Drucker,
corporate culture is like the country culture and it should not be changed (Roberts, Hite and
Chorev 2014). The author of this reading in this weekly activity has a different point of view, as
per the author there are two types of corporate culture model, in the first type the culture has
been shown in a geometric shape similar to a polygon (Schwartz 2013). The length of spokes
from the centre of the polygon has portrayed the number of typology. There are labels for the
elements of the model these labels are, Avoidance, achievement or recreationery. Each of the
elements are of the corporate culture are explained through the use of simple language.
Assessing the corporate culture requires the use of both the models. According to the author the
second type of model is very simple it has explanation unlike the first type because images needs
explanation (Cenry 2016).
In the typology type model there is very less requirement for the leaders to think, and that
is the reason it is more beneficial. The images can be remembered and labels are easy to be
understood, it will be very creative as well as interesting to implement it, whereas the descriptive
type model requires a lot of time (Doliński et al 2017). It helps in getting the whole picture of the

organizational culture. To get success in the process of corporate culture change it is therefore
very important to use the tools. These tools are used by many organizations (Schwartz 2013).
Conclusion
It can be concluded that the learning outcomes of the readings that were carried out in
week, 2, 3, 4 and 5 gave have made the topic comprehensive, the readings of the various authors
on Globalization gave a very clear idea about the concept. The topics that were chosen for the
weekly activities were Context culture and Models for corporate culture change. The concept of
Context culture is plays a pivotal role while making marketing strategies at global level because
the context culture of countries differ. The author of the other reading suggest that corporate
culture of any organization can be changed and modified as per the desire of the management,
through effective leadership. Corporate culture change gives the organization a direction, which
will be helpful in leading the organization towards achieving the desired goals and objectives.
Modification can be done and the culture of the organization can be changed keeping in mind the
employees, customers and the culture of the country. Two models of corporate culture has been
discussed, in one model elements are arranged in graphically, in the other the elements are
simply described without any images or pictures. The author of the reading though considers that
the second type of model is more useful than the first type of model.
