Prior to the beginning of this trimester, the environmental health meant the conditions
of the environmental factors that contribute to the health of an individual. The environmental
factors include air, soil, water and the weather (Frumkin, 2016). Only natural factors were
considered to be contributing to the environmental health of an individual. However, upon
exploring the learning resources, the definition of the environmental became clearer. The
environmental health does not imply the heath conditions of any individual. It is a branch of
public health and can also be described as a type of community health (Goodman, Bunnell &
Posner 2014). The relative environmental factors include both the natural factors and the
chemical factors. The natural factors that are responsible for the health and well-being of a
human community can be the composition of air, water and soil (Karlsson & Baccarelli,
2016). These factors can be proven to be hazardous to the health of the human being, if there
is a high level of pollution in those factors. Another factor affecting the environmental health
of a community can be the change in the climate (Springmann, Godfray, Rayner &
Scarborough, 2016). The natural disasters or excessive rise or fall in the temperature often
cause hazards to the health of an individual. Another factor of the environmental health can
be the chemical or technological disasters (Knap & Rusyn, 2016). Those types of disasters
are mostly a result of human actions, instead of resulting from natural event. The factors are
interrelated though. The human induced disastrous factors often affect the natural factors,
which ultimately prove to be hazardous for the health of a population or community.

The globalization of the food production means that a particular type of food product
is being prepared in the various parts of the world in the same way. The same procedure is

used to prepare a food in various part of the world (Inglis & Gimlin, 2015). Thus the food
will be similar in taste in any part of the world. The globalisation of the food distribution is
the import or the export of a particular food product all around the world. These types of
globalisation process mainly involve various raw food materials, such as the fruits and the
vegetables. This phenomenon can be viewed as a positive occurrence. An example of the
globalization of the food can be the opening of various fast food joints, which involve a list of
food that is globally available. The food also tastes similar even in the different countries.
The globalisation of these foods can be viewed as a positive phenomenon, since this
phenomenon helps the people from different countries to taste the same food. It can also be
beneficial for the people who are travelling from a different country (Frumkin, 2016). The
people from a different country or a different cultural background are always confused in
deciding on the food options they can choose to eat during their stay. In this scenario, if there
are some food options that are globally available, they will be able to choose easily.
Answer 3.
The short film described the problems associated with the extraction of the coal in the
coal factory. The environment around those coal factories becomes seriously affected from
the chemicals and the unconventional gas released from the coal industry. The video
interviewed various academic scholarly figures, who certified that there is indeed an
increased risk of the development of various cardiovascular disease conditions in the people
of the population living in the vicinity of the factories. There are also risks of various other
disease conditions resulting from the damage to the other organs in the body. The scholars
were also displayed concerns about the children of the population, since the risks of all these
adverse effects are supposed to be most severe in them. The short film also identified a
community in Australia to be affected mostly from this impaired environmental condition.
The children of that community are already experiencing various serious effects that are

should be addressed as soon as possible. The people of that population must be relocated to
some other place, where the environmental health is improved and after that all the people of
the community must be provided with immediate and proper treatment or care plans. This is a
very important social and national problem that should be addressed immediately.

The neighbourhood area has many trees and there are proper cleanliness and hygiene
maintained in the area. This can be identified as a health promoting factor. The air seems
clean and fresh, because there is not much pollution in the area. The inhabitants in this area
mostly use bicycles for travelling a small distance. The presence of a high number of trees
and low number of motor vehicles contribute in the promotion of the health and lowered
pollution in the environment. The area is not overly populated. This can be considered as
another factor promoting the health of the population. However, there is a continuous
increase in the number of the people in this neighbourhood. Thus the neighbourhood is
steadily proceeding to become an overly populated area. The overly populated areas are not
considered to be a healthy environment. There is not any industry present in the close
proximity of the area either, which is another contributing factor for the health promotion
currently. The reason behind that is that industrialisation involves the release of various toxic
chemicals and gas in the environment, which affects the health negatively (Frumkin, 2016).

Health and safety in the workplace is a very important concept these days. The
workplace involves various risks to the health of employees (Lundgren & McMakin, 2018). It
is very important for the employers and the organisation to be aware of the risks and take

necessary measures to promote safety in the workers. There are different types of risks are
associated with different industries. The industries that involve mechanical machineries,
present the risk of the employees acquiring physical injuries mostly. The industries that are
focused on the production of some chemicals present the risk of disease conditions resulting
from the toxic exposure of the chemicals in the workers. There are also many other risks
associated with the health of workers depending on the type of the industry. The risks not
only involve the physical health of the workers. The mental health of the workers is also at
risk of being impaired, which results from the stress and anxiety resulting from the work
environment (Frumkin, 2016). As a nurse, my field of work involves high level of stress and
presents with a risk of mental health in the employees. I experienced an episode of burnout in
the hospital one day, which resulted from the increased workload in my workplace. My
supervisors and organisational leaders were unable to detect the increasing stress in me to
prevent the event of burn out. However, they reacted quickly after the detection of burn out in
me. They communicated with me to investigate the reason for my burn out and also
motivated me for resuming my work. Thus it can be decided from this experience that my
organisation and supervisors were capable of displaying proper skills for managing the risks
associated with the health of their employees.
Answer 6.
I was a part of the community medical team that were involved in the management of
an environmental crisis. There was an event of mild earthquake took place, which introduced
severe panic in the people of the area. There was no severe damage to the property or to the
health of the people. However, almost all the people in the community started to panic. They
were running out of their houses and as a result, there was a huge commotion. The

commotion resulted in a few injurious condition in the people. For the management of this
disaster, beside the community medical team, there were also an emergency disaster
management team present in the area. The team involved rescue members and also another
emergency medical team. There were also a local police team present to help the disaster
management team in controlling the crowd. I watched the team leaders of all three teams to
communicate effectively during the whole event, since it was important (Böl, 2016). The
police team had the responsibility of controlling the crowd and the rescue team was involved
in finding whether or not someone has been trapped inside some building or another place.
To carry out the whole work efficiently, the both team leads were communicating effectively
to know the progress of each team. The emergency medical team was focused on treating the
injuries in the patient. My team was helping the team and thus there was also a
communication between the two teams. Both of these teams again required to maintain a
communication with the other two teams in order to determine the needs of the medical
attention in the community people.
