INTRODUCTION
Global events are the events and the activities which are organized to entertain the people
around the world. The global events involve spectators as well as participants, which arrive from
different countries and are helping in enhancing the engagement of spectators around the world.
The global events are important as they help in creating wealth for the society as well as create
harmony and peace amongst the nations. The global events are engaged in increasing tourism
which will directly bring wealth for the society and are also helping in social engagement of the
people. It is seen that the global events are organized and managed over large scale, as there are
numerous activities which have to carry out before starting and after the completion of the
project (Bauer, Rooney, and Lepland, Akhtar, 2020). The global event chosen in this report is
Rio Olympics, which are organised in the year 2016. The participation of players and athletes
was in huge amount, as the event is organised at large scale. The event comprises of 306 events
in total and has 28 different sports, the flow of players and spectators are in huge amount. The
players are all enthusiastic and have participated from all over the world. This report is the
evaluation about the knowledge of the global events and their impact on different economies, be
it micro or macro. Further in this report the factors which are influencing the development of the
global events. This report comprises the critical evaluation of the management strategies which
are used by the event managers while organizing the event. The report also evaluates the
strategies which are used by the industries in helping the development of the event.

P1- Evaluation of the diversity of the global events industry, which involves the structure and
different types of events within our society.
 Mega Events
Mega events are also said as large- scale events which are organized globally, for entertaining
different spectators of different countries. These events are organized by special authority and
the media coverage of these events is large. Mega events are likely to impact the overall growth

of the economy of the host country (Apaydın, and Ocakoğlu, 2020). These events are likely to
be accompanied by some parallel activities like festivals, carnivals and cultural events. These
events require huge costs, as they are comprised of several activities and games which have to be
organized efficiently and effectively.
Structure- The structure of mega events is based on several measures and considerations which
have to be accomplished. The event involves visitor attractiveness, cost, transformative costs and
mediated reach which have to be taken into account while planning for the event. Every activity
is pre-defined and is managed by different teams. These teams are responsible for the smooth
completion of activities involved within the event. The teams are engaged in controlling their
planned activities in accordance with the time required. Proper coordination is required so that
the assigned tasks are performed accurately without any obstruction.
How the event is organized- For organizing a mega event several representatives and officials
are required for managing the event. The event is managed by the officials and the activities are
prepared beforehand, so that the event can move on smoothly without any problem.
Place of event in society- Mega events are planned at large scale, thus huge grounds and places
are required where sufficient spectators can watch the events and games.
 Hallmark Events
Hallmark events are likely to be said as the best events as they are related to a particular culture
and social cause. The hallmark events are concise and have a defined culture and place in the
society. These events are related to the location of the host country and are planned according to
the culture of that particular economy of the host country. These events are likely to increase the
attraction of the tourists in a particular nation. The event has the participation of different people
from different nation which helps in facilitating the tourism (Bell, and Masys, 2020). These
events are recurring as they keep on repeating after determined duration of time. Some hallmark
events include Tour De France, La Tomatina and Edinburgh Festival which are likely to be
organized every year.
Structure- Hallmark events are planned and organized according to some occasion which
happens in the society. Several factors have to be evaluated before organizing hallmark events as
they are engaged I focusing on particular culture. The activities carried out in this event are
highly structured according to the practices and activities performed by those cultural people.

This event is likely to promote the culture among tourists which have arrived from different
countries.
How the event is organized- The event is organized with several officials and representatives
which are engaged in carrying out different activities. These activities are carried out at a single
geographical location and are organized for non- profit purposes (Douglas, and, et. al., 2022).
The main aim of the organizers is to encourage the culture of the country and enhance their
tourism practices.
Place of event in society- The hallmark events are organized in the host country, where there are
people of the same culture and religion.
 Major Events
The events where there is a gathering of over 200 people or more are described as major events.
For example these events include exhibitions, parties and concerts which are organized at a
particular place. The people within the country are engaged more in these types of events as well
as international tourists are also involved in these events. To promote these types of events the
managers can consider media coverage for the same.
Structure- These activities are performed by determined representatives who are professional in
their field. The main aim of these events is to maximise the profits of the investors within the
event. The event included proper planning, organizing, controlling and monitoring of the pre-
defined activities.
How the event is organized- The starting of the event is with the planning of the activities and
evaluating the factors which come up with the pre-defined plans. The strategies have to be
implemented which are designed as the activities have to be monitored and controlled by the

to organize the events (Espersen, and, et. al., 2022). The events organized are directly
based on the reach of the people, where the people can reach and participate in the event.
Good transportation services facilitates higher emergence of the crowd, whereas lack of
good transportation facilities will lead to less participation of the spectators in the event.
 Weather Conditions- Weather conditions are important factor as they tend to influence
the outcome of the event. It is seen that extreme weather conditions of a particular
location are not suitable for the event. As there are many risks involved where the
weather conditions are not stable. The events are more likely to happen at the locations
where there are suitable weather conditions and beautiful sceneries. The spectators are
more likely to visit places where the weather is fine and the tourists can have some family
time. The locations where there are extreme weather conditions will face issues as the
viewers will be lower in number and are not interested in participating in the event.
Therefore, it is seen that the weather conditions are important factor while conducting the
event.

 Increasing income of people- The buying power of the customers are increasing with
the rise in the income. Thus, increase in the buying power means the customers is likely
to spend some part of their income on global events as a viewer or spectator. For
generating higher profits in the events it is needed that the people are likely to spend
towards the society and societal causes. It is seen that political pressure helps in
facilitating the economic development of the host country. Organizing event will increase
the tourism of that particular country, which will help the nation in gaining opportunities
to become familiar with other countries. Therefore, with the rise of the income it is seen
that people are spending more on these global events.
 Sponsorships for fuelling-up these events- For organizing an event it is important that
the activities and the event is promoted widely to the global spectators. For funding these
events it is important to have sponsors and investors who are likely to bear all the costs
and are also engaged in increasing awareness within the viewers. For organizing an event

which are affecting the event are mainly the geographical location where event is going to be
happened. Organizing a large scale event involves effective management which will help in
smooth execution of the event. It is evaluated that global events helps in enhancing the culture
and bring economic growth within the society. Global events are likely to provide appropriate
platform to the participants in the society, which will help them in enhancing their career.

events within the environment in which they operate are described below-
Olympic Games are said to be the biggest global events and are more famous in the society. The
viewership of these games is high and the sports involved in these games are related to
education, indoor games, riding, swimming, athletics and many more. Participants and the

different practices related to the event. Thus it is important that budget is allocated to the
activities, identification of the estimated budget is needed so that the event is organized
effectively (Olsen and et. al., 2021). Global events requires huge amount of costs which

are more chances of getting more viewers. Thus, it is important to set dates before
planning and organizing the event.
 Sponsors- Sponsors are the important part which are considered in planning and
organizing of the event, as huge costs are incurred which are not bearable by a single
person (Raj and et. al., 2021). Sponsorships are beneficial for both the investors and the
receivers, as the sponsors will get promotion of their brand and the receivers will get
funds for their activities and games.

the overall planning and organizing of the activities conducted in the event. Rio Olympics are
attracting their targeted audience in huge number to participate in the event. More number of
viewers will increase the amount of profits received for the investors. Therefore, all these
positive factors will help in completion of the event effectively.
