Global Health
There are numbers of definitions of global health, which are considered by health
professionals and common people. These definitions not only confuse the health
professionals rather it also create ambiguity and uncertainty for other general people as well.
However, the most valuable definition for global study is that it is the area of study, research,
and practice that help to achieve equity in health and giving more emphasis on improving the
health of people worldwide. The global health issue generally focuses on multinational health
issues, helps to determine solutions for the health issue, and connect many disciplines
together to help the people to avoid global health issues (Banta, 2001).
The major difference between global health and international health is that first
considers transcend national boundaries for health issues and concerns and need cooperative
action from the people across the world (Beaglehole & Bonita, 2010). While the international
health is generally bilateral and it includes aid between two or more than two countries to
resolve the health issue, specific disease control projects in developing or under developing
countries, focusing on a group of community in multiple nations or assist the people in
countries to resolve a health issue (Hilts, 2008).
Global health focuses on spreading awareness among people about various
communicable disease like HIV/AIDS and Tuberculosis. The main objective of global health
is to reduce the global deaths from this type of disease and prevent people to avoid those
things that help to spread such dangerous disease among people. The main objective of global
health initiatives is to avoid infectious disease and educate people that how they can prevent
such type of health issues (Marušić, 2013). The global health also aims to reduce the
mortality rate and men and women and decrease the age specific mortality rate that are
generally raise because of infectious disease. Apart from this, the new global health concern
is related to poverty, which is the key cause behind many communicable and non-
communicable diseases (De Cock, Simone, Davison, Slutsker, 2013). The global health aims
to reduce poverty in under-developed and developing countries and provide safe and secure
life to people. Lowering the child mortality rate and reducing the pollution level also are
some of the key concern in global health concern. Pollution is the major global health
concern that causes cancer, asthma, and tuberculosis etc. in people that are more dangerous
than any other global concern.

Government have huge resources and money to invest to provide sufficient amount of
medicine and care to the patient. Government actors can also invest money on research and
development to face the global health challenges. The research and development, distribution
of medicines, and providing health tips and aids to the common people are some of the major
roles of government actors. However, the non-government actors such as NGO firms can
help to distribute these services and facilities of government to the people (Garay, Harris, &
Walsh, 2013). The non-government actors can also educate the people about various health
related issues and aware them that how people can avoid such issue from their life. However,
it can be said that non-government actors can play crucial role in knowledge generator,
capacity building, resource mobilization, and advocacy etc.
In conclusion, global health concern is mainly related with the health concerns of
global people. The major aim of government is to provide healthy life to all people in the
world while government and non-government actors can play a role of facilitator and
mediator respectively to educate people to avoid and prevent communicable, non-
communicable, or infectious disease.
