1.0 Introduction
Good communication skills are highly required for managers to perform their services in the
effective manner. As in organization managers are required to communicate with the peoples on
various issues and to convey their views it is highly required to develop strong communication
skills. Communication skill is very important for global Human resource management as it
works as a link between the business and employees. Communication skills in mangers help in
achieving the set targets in professional manner as they are able to communicate their views in
the effective manner. Further it also helps in resolving the management related issues in the well
structured manner. Most importantly the b good communication skill provides the opportunity of
constant change, adaptation, refinement and flexibility to the action plan (Dalfelt, S., Heide, M.
& Simonsson, C, 2001).
2.0 Communication media and methods to various situational needs in
organizational needs
Communication media is a medium through which communication is conducted in the effective
manner. It helps in transferring the message from the sender to the receiver. The two main mode
of communication are verbal and written mode. In verbal communication the message is
transferred through mouth and in written communication the message is transferred in the form
of written message. These days for nay organization the communication media are electronic
media, print media, phonic conversation, advertizing, social networking system etc.

Media management is a specialized area of business mangement that helps in developing,
planning, functioning and brand development of the organization. The core responsibility of the
media specialist is to convey the theoretical disciplines in the communication form. Selecting the
communication media also depends on the requirement of the content type. The three aspects
that are required to consider while selecting a communication media are firstly understanding
the purpose of communication, then secondly it is required to understand who is going to be
receiver and lastly it is required to consider the type of information( Bjerlöv, M., 2009).
Broadly the types of communication are as follows-
1. Face to face communication
The face to face communication is done both in verbal as well non-verbal form and is done at the
same location where both sender and receiver are avilable. In any communication media this
media is considered to be most powerful as it helps in getting the result instantly The
communication media here is meeting , annual performance sheet etc.
2. Two-Way Remote Communication
The two-way remote communication is done when the sender and receiver are not in the same
location. Here the communication result is early but feedback is not as strong as in face to face
communication. The mode of communication here are video conferencing, cell phone calls, chat
conversation etc.
3. Written communication
Written communication includes both formal as well informal communications in it. The mode
of communication here is written Report, Email etc.
4. Social media communication
Social media communication combines the strategies of text, audio and video means of
information. These days it is a very popular tool for the organizations to reach to its customers
and employees instantly in cost effective manner.

3.0 Organizational communication challenges
There are various challenges that the managers has to face while performing the
communication at the work place as there are many people’s with their own view state and
bringing coordination and understanding is itself very challenging. According to various
research papers the communication at the organization fails due to information overload,
communication anxiety, unethical communication, very less or incomplete information, message
distortion and minimal feedback lead to communication failure ( Eriksson, M. 2003). Some key
challenges in communication at the organization are as follows-
Inconsistency of communication
In organization the framework of communication begins at the top of management but becomes
inconsistent while reaching at the down management section. This creates the problem of lack of
clarity that develops confusion and people develop their concepts for particular issues.
Blindly relying on technology
Technology has helped in mangement in the effective manner but it is observed that officials
do not cross check the information that develops many problems. Like there are some fake
details are conveyed on the social media and mangement follow them.
Lack of transparency
Managers of the organization adopt new technology, methodologies but do not effectively
provide detail to its members that develop confusion and lack of coordination that ultimately
results in poor communication.
Not developing communication channel
Another biggest challenge the mangers face is lack of proper communication channel within the
organization.

Lack of coordination and Leadership
The organization which has no proper leader ship and coordination has several problem in
communication system ( Botan, C.H. & Taylor, M, 2004).
4.0 Cultural differences in communication at the organization
In the global business activities the management has to deal with cross cultural
communication system. For global business growth it is highly required for the mangers
to understand the cross cultural concepts as they are expected to work with diverse
workgroups and plans for conducting the business activity. The cross cultural
communication requires understanding the different business customs, beliefs,
communication strategies to have proper communication system. The challenges in the
cross cultural communication are differences in languages , business customs, high
context verses low context cultures and non –verbal differences creates the barrier in
effective communication system. To provide the effective communication in the cross
cultural environment it is required to follow following principles-
It is required to learn about the culture of the country in which business is supposed to do.
Take the guidelines of communication and etiquette from the concerned country while
performing the business communication.
Encourage the employees to self introduce themselves and openly communicate about
their problems so that a proper solution can be developed.
Develop a uniform communication system that is required to be followed on the
compulsory mode.
It is also highly required to develop the proper monitoring and rules for communication
system.
The mangement system should develop social bonding and mutual respect for each other
by providing healthy work environment.
The organization should highlight the good qualities of each culture so that mutual
respect can be developed (Alvesson, M., 2002).

Communication skill is very important for global Human resource management as it works as a
