Project quality is defined as a project’s potential or the capability in delivering a
performance as per the expectations of the customers or the stakeholders. If any project fails to
meet the expectations of the stakeholders, it can be said that the project has failed to meet the
overall quality objectives (Todorović et al., 2015). Therefore, the quality objectives of any
project is set at the start of the project so that the project can be planned accordingly.
Planning the quality management process of a project is subjected to use of certain tools
and techniques. One such tool is the use of cost benefit analysis. The cost benefit analysis tool is
mainly used for studying the relationship between the cost and the benefit in a project
(Newcomer, Hatry & Wholey, 2015). This tool is integral to make sure that the benefits
obtained from a project is outweighing the total cost of the project (Heagney, 2016). Another
useful technique of managing the cost of the project is benchmarking. This tool is mainly used
for establishing a comparison between the project that is planned and the actual project that is
being implemented. This helps in checking whether a project of expected quality can be
delivered within the set budget. Apart from these two tools, another useful technique for
necessary for planning the quality management process of a particular project is cost to quality.
This technique is important to establish a balance among different types of cost in a project.
The above indicated quality planning technique is implemented in a project by
developing a quality management plan that defines the processes and procedures that are needed
to be used to ensure that a project of appropriate quality is delivered (Sabella, Kashou & Omran,
2014). One of the most critical steps of managing a project’s quality is to ascertain that the entire

project is supervised in an effective manner. This step will ensure that the main quality
requirements of a project are validated while the project is being executed.
The cost of implementation of a project is largely influenced by the quality. It is
necessary to deliver a project of acceptable quality in one go as the need of bringing in
modifications in the project can increase the overall cost of the project. The need of modification
indicate that the extra resources are to be involved in the project which was earlier not planned
leading to increase in the overall project expenditure (Mohammadipour & Sadjadi, 2016). In the
St. Dismass project as well, the projected construction cost of $6,743,000 can increase if the
construction works are not delivered in accordance to the set project standard. Thus, it is
necessary for the St. Dismass project team to define the quality standard of the project in a
proper manner and plan the execution of the project accordingly so that the need of re doing any
phase of the project is completely eliminated. This, will ensure that the project is being executed
within the budget.
