analysing the business growth. In time of conducting the study, the representative of Acorn

so that they are able to increase profit from this industry. It is a tourism consultant organisation
in UK and provides suggestion to people related to tourist spots (acorntourism.co.uk, 2019). In

P1 Statistics for presenting the overview of trends and nature of tourism
Data
As per the viewpoint of World Tourism Organisation, in the present era, people like to travel
and it is evident on the report that in a year, 43 million increments are noticed for international
tourist arrivals. In addition to this, in time of analysing the best tourist destinations, UK holds
seventh position in global level. Moreover, within 2010-2025, in case of EU 28, 40% increment
is monitored in tourist arrival whereas in case of Asia, it is around 57%. Therefore, it denotes
that 2.8% economic growth is observed in international level (E-unwto.org, 2019).

(Source: E-unwto.org, 2019)
In addition to this, Australia has received Chinese tourists in their country. In a year, around
40% Chinese visit Australia and number of visitors from New Zealand in Australia is decreased
day by day (E-unwto.org, 2019).
Interpretation
In the opinion of Zhao (2016), due to the advancement of technology, people can take decision
at any time related to travelling and they can arrange everything on time using internet. Using
this trend, the number of tourists is increased in international level. It helps to bring development
in the economy of the country. As per the statistics of China, generating tourist area, their
economic status is quite good. China government does not take much time for giving visa. As a
result, Australia, receiving area, is benefitted from the tourists of China. On the other hand,
Brondoni (2016) stated that in time of travelling, people want to get best comfort and they prefer
adventure during this time. Countries are able to provide it easily and as a result, 43 million

increments are observed in tourist arrival in a year. Therefore, as a representative of Acorn, it
can be deduced that in a global scale, tourism hold a good position in an appropriate manner.
P2 Investigation on tourist generating and receiving areas
There are different countries such as Spain, Italy, USA, UK, Turkey, Germany, China and many
others who generate tourism in an effective way.
Country Number of visitors (million)
Italy 52.4
Turkey 30
Mexico 35.0
Spain 75.6
UK 35.8
Thailand 32.6
Germany 35.6
Table 1: Number of visitors in various countries
(Source: E-unwto.org, 2019)
It clearly reflects that the above-mentioned countries contribute huge amount of money in the
international tourism department as they receive huge number of visitors in a years. Key
characteristics of generating and receiving tourists are followed by-
Attractive destinations and good economic status
As suggested by Fang et al. (2016), people prefer to visit historical places. In addition to this,
they also prefer to visit places in time of a specific festival. Therefore, due to having good
economic stability and proper tourism rule in China, Australia receives more tourists in
their country. In case of Spain, many destinations are there such as Aqueduct of Segovia,
Sagrada Familia, Mezquita of Cordoba, Alhambra and many others. Among them, Alhambra is
the most popular place in Spain due to its historical background and 8.9% people visit Spain in
a year. Therefore, in time of giving suggestion related tourist destinations in UK, London Tower,
Roman Baths, British Museum, Chester Zoo and many others are there for increasing tourism
business of UK.
Good transportation
On the other hand, another important thing that generates tourism is good transportation
system. As mentioned by Sharpley (2018), if tourists are able to get good transportation system,
they can freely visit the place. Being a representative of Acorn, it is suggested that in London,
minicabit taxi booking is there, which gives cheapest service in UK. In addition to this, London

travel card is there, which helps to travel randomly by booking only one ticket. Thus, UK holds
their seventh position for receiving tourists in global tourism.
Analysis between tourism nature and its influence on economies
In the opinion of Lee and Bai (2016), if the economic system of country is developed, they try to
contribute money in the tourist spots for taking care of it. It is quite common that if the country
decorates their tourist sports in an attractive manner, it would be the first choice of visitors. For
example, UK government is taking care of the British museum and they try to elaborate the
history of the every specimen. This kind of activity helps tourists to know the history of Britain in
a clear manner. Therefore, people are interested to visit this place. Thus, it is stated that as
government spent money to decorate museum, it attracts more visitors. On the other hand,
Cárdenas-García et al. (2015) mentioned that if country has economic stability, they try to bring
improvement in their transportation system also. For instance, in case of UK, minicabit taxi
booking is there that offers cheapest cost of a ride in UK. Therefore, if tourists are able to get
above-mentioned conveniences, they prefer to visit this place. Thus, emerging economies help
to bring growth in the tourism of various countries.
Critical evaluation
According to Cárdenas-García et al. (2015), many a times, it is found out that people do not
want to visit the place due to excessive expenditure. In this context, as tourism helps to develop
the economic status of world, they spend it in taking care of tourist spots. Therefore, the place
becomes more expensive. It affects the global tourism, as many people are not able to bear the
expenditure of visiting it. It leaves negative impact on the On the other hand, Joshi et al. (2017)
stated that tourism helps to increase the rate of employment in the venture. Therefore, people,
who work under tourism sector, are too busy in holidays for giving service to the tourists. Due to
emerging market in tourism, these people are not able to get scope of taking leave in holidays.
Thus, employee dissatisfaction can increase, which may decrease their performance level. It
can leave negative impact on the global tourism.

P3 Reason of tourism growth in world
The key factors that influence the travel are followed by-
Price
Human resource
Age
Culture
As suggested by Su and Swanson (2017), it is found that age is the main factors that influence
people to travel. In case of young people, they prefer adventurous travelling. On the other hand,
in case of senior people, they choose seaside or historical places for travelling, as they want
peace in time of spending holidays. In addition to this, if people have good economic stability,
they want to spend it by travelling. Therefore, as a representative of Acorn, it can be stated that
pricing is the important factor in time of selecting the tourist spot.
Reason for growing global tourism
Figure 2: Reasons of tourism growth
(Source: Created by learner)
As asserted by Wu (2016), in global tourism, the growth is noticed for few reasons, which are
good transportation, paid leaves, internet booking and development in income. It has
been found out that at present, people want to spend their lives lavishly. In addition to this, as
development in people’s income is also monitored, they prefer to travel. People also get paid

leaves and they spend it by travelling. On the hand, Mowforth and Munt (2015) stated that
except economic stability, digital technology is another reason to earn growth in tourism. It is
find out that before visiting the place, people are able to get information on the place by using
internet. It increases their attraction towards the place. Thus, as a representative of Acorn, it can
be stated that digital technology leaves huge impact on the growth of tourism in global aspects.
P4 Compare and contrast about the differences between tourism related factors
Explanation of destination life cycle
Figure 3: Destination life cycle
(Source: Influenced by Woo et al. 2015)
In the opinion of Su and Swanson (2017), destination lifecycle helps to understand the position
of the place or products in the market. In case of tourist spot, it is noticed that in initial stage,
people do not know about it. This stage can be labelled as exploring. On the other hand, when
people start to visit the place, in can be considered as the involvement of people within this
spot. Thus, place become popular and it becomes a famous tourist spot gradually.
Compare and contrast
It is found that in UK, at present, Stonehenge becomes popular place and it attracts most of
tourists. In time of analysing its reason behind it, it is observed that this is a prehistoric
monument. As people prefer to visit historical place, it is one of the popular tourist spots in UK.
Apart from that, UNESCO certifies it as one of the world heritage sites, which increases the
demand of this place (whc.unesco.org, 2019). Therefore, according to the destination life cycle,
it belongs to the consolidation stage of the cycle.
In comparison with the strategy of UK, Alhambra palace is the most attracted place in Spain.
Recently it attracts many tourists towards it as Spanish government has renovated it and

decorates in an attractive manner. Therefore, it belongs to the development stage of
destination cycle. In addition to this, in order to make it popular, Spanish government advertises
this place and they become successful in this aspect.
Thus, the above-mentioned strategies help to enhance economic status of the world and
tourism contributes huge amount to it.
Importance of different factors
Figure 4: International tourism
(Source: E-unwto.org, 2019)
Various factors such as socio-economic culture, exchange rate, diversity are there, which
affects the tourism trends in various regions such as Western European and Asian tourism. As
per the viewpoint of Chang (2015), in case of Asian tourism, around 6 billion people prefer
domestic trip. In addition to this, in 2015, 35 million people prefer to travel in their holidays.
This trend denotes that in a specific season, Asia face huge pressure in their tourism sector.
On the other hand, due to having good management system and economic status, Chinese
people visit Australia. It is also monitored that tourism tax rate in China is very affordable and
in time of getting visa, Chinese people do not get pain. Therefore, from China, generating
8

country, Australia and UK receive many tourists, which develop economic status of the
countries.
Critical evaluation
As per the viewpoint of Jovicic (2016), economic culture of people affects the tourism trend. For
example, in case of Asian or Indian people, they prefer to visit domestic places as they face
huge issue such as visa related issue in time of visiting foreign country. On the other hand, in
case of China, their tourism rules are very easy and government are active in this department.
Therefore, it becomes tourist-generating country in the world. As argued by Moutinho and
Vargas-Sanchez (2018), UK gives best services related to transportation and hotels to the
tourists and as a result, it gets seventh position as a receiving country. Therefore, it can be
deduced that improper economic stability and government rule related to tourism can affect the
tourist industry in the global scale.

P5 Responsibilities and roles of international organisations
World Tourism Organisations, Pacific Asia travel Tourism, World Travel and Tourism are
there, who influence the tourism in global aspects. As per the viewpoint of Valente et al. (2015),
international organisations of tourism sectors try to focus on the tourism policy so that they can
attract many customers in this sector.
Roles and responsibilities
Economic growth
Increasing sustainability
Following tourism policy
In the opinion of Shone et al. (2016), international tourism organisations try to focus on the
development of tourist spots so that they are able to attract many tourists. In case of World
Tourism, it is noticed that they keep track about the tourist arrivals in different countries in a
years. Thus, this organisation is able to understand the tourism position globally. On the other
hand, international organisations follow the tourism related rule of various countries, so that they
can identify the tourist generating and receiving country specifically. In this context, it has been
found that tourism related rules of China are very convenient and as a result, it becomes a
tourist generating country. On the other hand, UK provides best services to their tourists, thus, it
hols seventh position in the world as a receiving country.
Therefore, as representative of Acorn, it can be deduced that effective tourism related rules and
services such as providing visa on time helps to bring development in the global tourism.
Evaluation of growth
According to Aslan (2016), as International organisations focus on the tourism related rules,
they are able to understand the present status of global tourism. Thus, organisations can take
initiative for bringing development in tourist sector. For example, it is seen that in case of India,
people face huge problem for getting visa. It affects the tourism growth in the contemporary
market. On the other hand, in case of China, tourism rules are very convenient. Therefore, it
helps to creates more tourists from the country. In addition to this, economic status of country
leaves impact on the tourism. It is seen that in UK, unemployment rate is very low which is
around 3.2% (ons.gov.uk, 2018). In addition to this, it holds seventh position as a tourist
receiving country. Therefore, as per the assessments of international organisations, it can be
stated that UK contributes in order to bring development in global tourism.

LO4
P6 Significance of threats, challenges and issues for future development
Threats and implications
Negative economic impact
Less diversity
As per the viewpoint of Hoogendoorn and Fitchett (2018), it has been observed that
international organisations of tourism contributes huge amount of money in order to reconstruct
the tourist spots. It helps them to attract many tourists and as a result, they expect that global
tourism will be able to develop economic scale. Many a times, expenditure of renovation is
unable to gain its basic cost and as a result, it leaves negative impact on the economic status of
the world. On the other hand, if diversity is not maintained in the place, it can be the threat for
the tourism. For example, if Indian people, who do not know English, visit UK, they face
language barrier. Therefore, this incident can decrease Indian tourists in UK.
Issues and implications
Visa related issue
High currency
If various countries such as India are not able to remove visa related issue, they can suffer from
developing economic status from tourism sector. On the other hand, in case of currency rate, it
is noticed that due to excessive price rate, general people of Bangladesh, New Zealand do not
visit foreign countries such as UK and Australia. In addition to this, Jovicic (2016) commented
that unemployment rate can leave impact on the tourism. Therefore, as a representative of
Acorn, it is suggested that if economic status in global context is not developed, development in
tourism cannot be achieved in future.
Challenges and implications
No safety and security related policy for foreign tourists
Environmental issue
In the opinion of Hoogendoorn and Fitchett (2018), political aspects can become the challenges
for countries in order to develop tourism. Many a times, it is found out that due to political
disruption, people do not want to visit the specific place. For example, as per the report, it is
noticed that Italian political crisis leaves impact on the economic status of the country
(nationalinterest.org, 2018). Though 52.4 million people visit Italy per year, political crisis can
reduce the number of visitors in this country. Italian government needs to focus on these
challenges for cutting it in an appropriate manner.
