LO1:
P1: Overview of the nature and trends of Tourism on a global scale.
One of the world’s greatest sector or industry is the Tourism and Travel Industry. As per a
survey conducted by U.S. it was observed that the global tourism industry in recent years
have contributed more than 7.6 trillion US Dollar towards the global economic growth and
development. Over the world’s economy, direct impact of the tourism industry inclusive of
other services like transport, accommodation, attractions, entertainments, etc. was something

around 2.3 trillion US Dollar (approx.) in the year 2016. Popular countries like U.N., France
are being continuously popular tourist destinations whereas other countries are also taking the
same path to become famous and to acquire the advantages of the economies soon. In every
year, the industry have shown continuous growth. In the year 2005, the international tourist
arrivals rate was around 528 million which increased to 1.19 billion in 2015 and is expected
to grow to 1.80 billion by the year 2030. Amongst the international tourists, Europe is most
famous. As per the statistics, it can be observed that the total contribution of the tourism
industry towards the economy on a global scale is 8.27 trillion USD (Camilleri 2018, p.89).
Amongst which the number of international tourist visits worldwide that has be observed is
1.323 million whereas the number of travellers travelling to European countries for tourism
purpose is 670.6 million which is more than half of the entire international tourists. However
Kenya has been observed as the destination that recorded highest growth in terms of luxury
travel. Thus it is clear from the facts and stats that Tourism Industry is the largest and fastest
growing industry contributing enormously towards the global economy.
P2: Characteristics of the key tourism receiving and generating countries.
Every country have some uniqueness in it and each have its own tradition. But every one of
them is not famous and popular amongst the tourists. There must be some good reason for
this. Among all other countries few of them have some special characteristics which makes
them different from the others and that is how those countries becomes popular and enjoys
the benefit of the economy. 5 most important characters of a popular tourism industry are:
Attractions- Attraction is the most important factor and character which a popular tourism
generating and receiving country must have. It is due to this factor for which people from all
parts of the world comes to visit the place. The more a country have attractions, the larger
numbers of tourist they will produce (Boniface, Cooper and Cooper 2016, Pp. 4-20).

Accessibility- It is very important for a tourism country to have proper accessibility to the
place for the tourists. It includes proper air, roads or rail transport. This helps people to reach
the place more conveniently and quickly which further increases tourism generating rate of
the country as more and more tourists can come to visit the place for easily and conveniently.
Accommodation- It includes proper place to stay for the travellers overnight such as Hotels.
Good and luxury accommodation also helps in increasing the rate of tourist’s visit to that
place.
Amenities- Yet another key factor affecting the tourism rate of a country is the availability of
proper amenities like proper food, drinking water, sanitary, etc. Countries with proper
amenities for their visitors enjoy more numbers of international and domestic visits compared
to others.
Activities- In tourism industry, activities carried on in a country plays a huge role on the
growth and development in travellers of that place. Activities such as superior views of
nature, nature walks, architectures, history, health, etc. attracts more people and hence
making the country famous in the industry.
M1: Analyse how the scale and nature of tourism on global level have been influenced
by emerging economies.
Interesting trends are happening in today’s global tourism sector. The growth of rich tourists
from emerging market countries are most notable in the industry. Their investments and
spending can be largely observed in the industry. it can be said that in the upcoming decade,
the household making numbers will increase to 30 million. Buy the year 2020, it can be said
that the spending on transportation of these emerging markets in tourism industry will grow
up to $1.3 billion. The influence and impact of the emerging market can be observed by
seeing the pattern of tourists travelling overseas into US. Tourists from these emerging

countries and markets spends more on an average from the traditional affluent. The biggest
beneficiaries of these spenders are the high end retailers. In times of economic downturns as
well these travellers to the emerging market spends more and hence the average of the
amount of purchase from these markets are maintained (World Economic Forum, 2019). As
per survey conducted by IATA, it can be observed that the air travel from and to these
emerging tourists market/ economies have increased by a rate of 2% annually. While in some
places like Asia-Pacific regions, Africa, etc. the growth was found to be around 6% - 7%
annually. Thus the continuous growth of the tourism industry is due to the high growth rate of
emerging affluent and now companies of these emerging markets are looking out for new
strategies and business models to stay competitive in the market.
D1: Critically evaluate the impact of both key and emerging markets, and significant
factors affecting global tourism
In an emerging economy where the market is developing, there are several key factors that
affects tourism globally. In emerging tourist markets, the global tourism is affected largely.
Accessibility plays an important role in capturing the global tourism market. It is of great
significance. In an emerging market, if the modes of transport are available then it will be
easy for the tourist to visit the place thus ensuring growth of the tourism industry of that area.
If the emerging countries can develop their accessibility to the place, the market will certainly
develop. Secondly, climate of a place also plays an important role in the growth of the
tourism markets (Wttc.org, 2019, p.90). If an emerging country like Australia, India have a
good climate condition most of the time, then more and more tourists will prefer to visit the
place and thus it will result in the growth and development of the market and its economy. In
the same way, the economy of a country can impact the tourism industry as well. If the
general price level of a country falls then it means that supply is more that its demand and

thus it will lead to the increase in the amount of tourist at that place and which will lead to the
growth of the tourism industry of the place and vice-versa.
LO2:
P3. Determination of reasons for the growth of key global tourism receiving and
generating areas of the world.
There are quite a few reasons of why key tourism countries of the world are growing rapidly.
These are discussed below in brief. Firstly, means for transport plays the most crucial role
here. These countries are making effort to make the mode of transport for their visitors more
convenient. As a result of which more and more people are visiting these places and the
country is generating income from both ends. Secondly, the nature and climate also plays
another important role in the growth of these countries. Every travellers loves the punch of
blue sunny skies along with the pleasure of sea and High Mountains. These places
automatically attracts tourists due to its nature’s gift. Thirdly, in places like UK, US, France,
etc. people often takes more paid holidays i.e. they don’t take a single big vacation, instead
they takes many small ones. Fourthly, in developed countries the disposable income of the
people have increased resulting in an increase of people’s ability to afford these tours. Thus
in these countries, growth in tourism can be observed. As per Cárdenas-García and Pulido-
Fernández, (2017, p.77), place that have a mixture of art, culture and history, attracts more
tourist than any other place. Thereby increasing the growth of tourism industry in that
country as more and more tourists comes to visit. Also the countries having growth in tourism
sector have small families and more numbers of working members. Being a small family
implies less expenses and more number of working members implies more earning.
Therefore they have substantial income to spend on tourism. Hence it can be concluded that
countries having these attributes are growing tourism countries and these are the keys reasons
behind the growth.

M2: Evaluate and compare the importance of different factors affecting and driving
tourism statistical trends in a range of different global regions
From the above classification and comparison it can be compared that Iran is famous for its
nature’s gift and have diverse activities like hiking, skiing which makes it different from
other destination. Whereas Georgia is famous for its history and culture. Again Myanmar and
Taiwan features in its tourism democracy and technology respective which boosts their
growth in this sector. Thus it can be observed that in each region, it is the features and life
cycle of the place that primarily responsible for the growth of the tourism industry in the
country. As sighted by Delener, (2019,p.78), apart from life cycle, the economic activities
and environmental sustainability also plays an important role in driving the tourism industry
towards growth. The destination that takes care of the environment and socio-economic
culture have been observed to be the most successful ones in long run despite of all the
challenges and issues the industry is facing at the moment.
LO3:
