INTRODUCTION
Globalisation is a economic, social and political interaction between different countries
worldwide. There are various reason behind the advent of globalisation such as freedom of trade,
improvement in technologies, easy access to low cost labour and high skilled people.
Globalisation creates a huge impact on the healthcare services(Colander, 2017). Globalisation in
health care provide an opportunities to doctors and nurses to expand their customer base and
provide there services to the people who need it. Globalisation has make it possible to provide
best treatment to the patients. Globalisation helps the patient to get treatment at the lower prices
in the wide range of countries.
Globalisation
Definition : Globalisation can be defined as a process of interaction among people, government
on different countries and between various companies worldwide(Shahbaz and et.al., 2017).
Reason why globalisation has occurred
Many years ago the trader use to travel long distances in order to exchange gold, clothing
and other goods for food. But with the advent of technology the transportation facility becomes
available as well as international trade has also arises which make it easier for the individuals to
exchange goods and services easily with the help of technology and easy transportation
facility(Macri and Trimarchi, 2016). Globalisation has also improve the communication process
between various countries which has resulted in increase in healthcare awareness among the
people.
Timeline of globalization
First globalization
During the eighteenth century due to advent of various technologies there is rapid growth
seen in the world trade. The globalization first started in the year nineteenth century in year
1914. In the end of eighteenth century the Great Britain has started to expand its rule with the
establishment of British empire.
Second globalisation
In the end of second world war the new global economy has emerged. It was started in
the year 1944. During this period two organisations were established one is world bank and the
other was International Monetary fund ( IMF). And special agreement was made as General

agreement on Tariffs and trade ( GATT ) which focuses on increasing global free trade by a
successive reduction in the industrial tariffs.
Third globalization
In the year 1970 processing cost, transferring cost and storing cost began to decrease
which has created a huge opportunity for internation trade to emerge. Third globalisation has
took place in year 1989 and is continuing till today.
Positive and negative impact of globalisation
Advantage : With the globalisation mass communication and quick spread of information takes
place with the help of internet. Free trade has reduced the barriers such as trade barriers,
subsidies and other nation wide barriers. The globalisation has resulted in ease of travel and
shipping due to reduced trade barriers. The consumers and business has now easy access to
various goods and services (Cuadrado-Ballesteros and Peña-Miguel, 2019).
Disadvantage : Globalisation has created a negative impact on the environment. The increase in
globalisation has resulted in increase in emission of carbon dioxide which is affecting the
environment. Globalisation has resulted in decrease in wages mainly which is offered in
developing countries. Due to the decrease in wages worker feels less motivated and put little or
no effort in their job.
Affect of globalisation on healthcare
Globalisation in healthcare : Globalisation has helped the healthcare services to develop
rapidly its product and services( What is globalisation?, 2019). But there is also negative impact
of globalisation on the healthcare services. As the healthcare services has to consider various
economic as well as public health concerns. Sometimes the healthcare products used by the
hospitals does no prove beneficial.
Globalisation has affected the patient in positive way. Many patients who are not getting
treatment in the local country can get better treatment from the other countries. The spread of
disease can be one of the reason of quick spread of diseases. Global transportation has resulted in
safe of life of many people but the negative impact associated with this activity is that the spread
of disease which can be threat to many people.

CONCLUSION
The study helps in understanding the meaning of globalisation and its impact on the
healthcare services. Globalisation creates a negative as well as positive impact on healthcare
services. There are various types of globalisation such as financial, economic, technological,
political etc. There are many challenges has to be faced as a result of increasing globalisation
such as job mobility, western dominance, loss of cultural identity. Due to globalisation various
issues such as ethical, human resource and cultural issues also arises. The hospitals and the
professional in the same service should take care of various aspects before entering into global
activities.
