INTRODUCTION
Globalisation is the procedure that helps an organization to operate their business
activities at international market or across boundaries of domestic country. In other word it can
consider as process of which help in enhance economic, political, social and cultural relationship
across the international extremity ( Baylis, Smith and Owens, 2017). Through the globalisation
there is reduction in rate of poverty and unemployment in various countries. This report is based
on John Lewis which is founded by John Lewis in year 1864 and it is headquartered in London,
South Wales, United Kingdom. It is a departmental store which is operating in overall United
Kingdom. In this report the goals and objective of John and Lewis has to been focused. It also
determines project management plan which includes time and cost, resources for a specific
program.
Their are several benefits of growing an organisation globally in context to UK which are
as follows-
Economic Impact- Through globalisation there is increase in productivity which help
John Lewis to do trade business at the international market. It can be possible because there are
less reduction for expand a business globally, and it come up as enhancement in profitability,
which help a country to increase their economy.
Cultural Impact- Globalisation eliminates the identified obstacle which help in
respective company to enhancing their cultural knowledge form different countries which have
great significance on business operations and standard of living. By this there is also the
improvement in the production of John Lewis products.
Ethical impact- Through globalisation it helps the organisation to conduct their business
in the legal way of performing things in the right way as well as allows the organisational to not
to adopt unethical practices of performing work and thereby achieve global success ( Kerzner
andKerzner, 2017).
In the present report chosen organisation is John Lewis. It has its operations in UK which
deals in variety of goods and services to their customers in large market place. It deals in
providing various products to its customers such as clothing, watches, jewellery and house hold
items. Respective company is successful globally as it provides products according to the
customers demand in various countries. This provides higher satisfaction to the customers and

enables the company to achieve high level of profit and expands its business operations in other
countries. Benefits of organisational functions when business expands globally-
Operations- When John Lewis will expand business globally it will be responsible for
managing and controlling the resources for creation of products and services in order to
satisfy customers needs and wants accordingly. Expanding business globally will help the
operational function to produce goods with high standard quality and achieve maximum
efficiency in their products which will help to increase the standard of their products
( Pieterse, 2015).
Marketing- Activities of marketing in a company will helps in analysing and evaluating
the needs of the customers in different country and produce goods accordingly. By
identifying the social and cultural factors of the people of the particular country it
produces products of that kind in order to achieve higher customer satisfaction as well as
high sales of the respective company. This will create a positive impact on the company
by enhancing their brand image.
HR- It will help the company in recruiting more employees from diverse backgrounds
which can handle the business situations properly. It will create positive impact by
employing more knowledgable staff members which could understand the demand of the
employees as well as the customers in a proper manner.
Finance- When business expands at a global level it needs large amount of funds for
operating successfully. It creates positive impact as it will properly manage the resources
and the funds and provide to the company for starting the production process to meet the
demands of customers as well as it makes the department responsible for properly
managing and controlling funds ( Jamal and Camargo, 2014).

and controlled. This plan include all major factors that
impact on a business. This factors are essential to complete
the project of the company ( Su and et. al., 2016). It is very
crucial to make the development plan before starting the
project as it helps in proper completion of activities
associated with the organisation. In case of comapny like
for John and lewis, it will them to understand the positive
influence of internationalization on economic, social or
cultural aspects on expanding its business in relation to
positive aspects on its organisational functions like
Operations, Marketing, Accounts and finance. Various
aspects of the plan are described below-
Cost When the company undertakes the project, it is necessary
and beneficial for the company to properly invest the amount
in a right manner. Respective Company need to find the cost
of various activities that are in process to complete the
project. It is essential to evaluate their different business
operation. With the development of effective budget for

will be benefited as per the follow of budget. It will also help
the company to take proper decisions for achieving success
in completing the project. Cost incurred during the
investigation process is 5000 pound.
Scope The term scope refer to the different business opportunity
that are available in the market and this will help them to
earn more profit in future as compare to present conditions.
For the respective company it help them sustain for a longer
period by taking the advantage of available opportunities. It
will also help to predict the effect of multi-national market of
the company and help them to provide better products and
service to the company ( Khan and et. al., 2015) .
Time In order to predict the time that is needed by the organisation
to complete the project of the company. In this each and
every activity of the project can be divided as per time
required by them. Normally for this project of John and
Lewis the estimated time will be 3 months.
Quality The aim for this project is focused to benchmark standard of
products to the customer which satisfies their demand and
provides a high living standard of people. In context to john
Lewis the cultural and ethical practices in various countries
will assist the company to provide high quality products to it
consumers. Inferior products will help john Lewis to increase
revenue and enhance brand goodwill .
Communication It plays a very important role as by effectively
communicating with all its employees it helps to implement
project in a better way. Communicating whole plan and

imopact on the project. Managers of the John Lewis should
need to predict diferent risk that are associated with culture
and structure and left effect on different activities of the the
business practicies.

availability of these resources to their employees. Different

will gather and collect large number of data in the form of
questionnaire, interviews and conducting surveys.
Quantitative research methodologies: In such type of
research method data is gathered by the assistance of
statistical and mathematical approaches. Under this method
data are authentically collected based on appropriate facts.
This is an appropriate tool for collecting information against
the identified problems.
In the present project, researcher uses qualitative method for
assembling or collecting data for accomplishing the task.
Along with the above two methods researcher can use two
types of method to collect appropriate data:
Primary Collection of data method- It refers to collection
of data straight from the researcher. It is collected for the
very first time is known as primary data which is fresh or
never used data and very specific to the research problem.
The researcher draws very authentic information which is
reliable in conducting the research. Such type of data
collected is the unused information and draws very effective
results ( Banks, 2014).
Secondary data collection method- Secondary data means
data that have already been collected and analysed by
someone else. This data is promptly accessible from various
informant or sources and there will be no specific
accumulation method. This type of research can benefit the
organisation as it is cost effective as well as less time
consuming.
In the present report, researcher uses primary method of
assembling the appropriate information and data by the use
of appropriate questionnaire in getting relevant results.

the company can be easily achieved. It will aid in sub composition of total activities of the task
on which resources could be allocated properly to effectively accomplish them within the set

Planning of project- In the first phase topic of the research will be find out with their
aims and objectives along with this all the problem which will be faced at the time of research
will be planned to how it can be removed.
Implementation- In this phase whole project blueprint will be taken and developed and
research would be done according to that. All the expenses which would be incurred in future
and computed in this step. Data is collected and analysed with different tools and techniques
which will help in better evaluation of research.
Completion of project- This is the last step of WBS in which documentation of the
whole project will be done after checking the report again.
Gantt chart- It is a chart that can help a company to determine the work that has been
done by them with in a pre-decided time duration. Gantt chart help a company to do preparation,
coordinating and monitoring the activities that are required to complete the project task of the
company.(Lin and Chen, 2012).

There are certain stages under the chart-
Problem identification- While undertaking the project the problem identified was when
expanding business company needs to focus on cultural impact on the customers of their
products. It took 2 days to solve the issue.
Selection of suitable topic- Topic for the project is carefully selected to carry the
research in a proper manner. It took around 5 days to choose the appropriate topic.
Creates aims and objectives- At the very first stage the investigator needs to form major
aims and objectives foe the appropriate project work. It took 7 days to complete this
activity.
Literature review- Various concepts of different authors have been used for completing
the project. IT took more than 1 week to collect and collaborate the concepts ( Boulouta
and Pitelis, 2014).
Research methodology- It is the stage where investigator needs to identify and collect
appropriate data with the help of surveys, interviews, questionnaire etc. This activity will
take more than 1 week to collect proper information.
Data collection and analysis- At this stage investigator collect and analyse the
information collected to give accurate recommendation. This activity is completed in
more than 1 month.
Conclusion and recommendations- At this stage after completing the project
recommendation and suggestions are given in order to overcome the problems in future.

subject matter from the respondents. Information collected are used for the aim of making
organisational decisions. In the present project , investigator uses effective method like
qualitative, quantitative, primary and secondary methods of data collection
Data collection- It is the method of assembling the relevant information from various
respondents for the purpose of completing the project within the time duration. It consists of
different types such as primary and secondary ( Yin, 2017). Primary data is collected from

different sources for example questionnaire, panel interview, focused groups etc. which ensures
about reliability and accuracy. On the other hand, secondary data is considered as second hand
subject matter which is gathered from books, journals, articles etc. Thus, it ensures less reliability
and accuracy of gathered data. Under the report information is collected using both primary and
secondary sources. To collect primary data, questionnaire has been used whereas while
assembling secondary data views and articles published from various authors on online platform
are taken into consideration.

the researcher in order to know respondents behaviour and knowledge towards the projects
