INTRODUCTION
Globalisation can be defined as procedure of interaction as well as integration among the
people, organisation and government of different nations. This factor has provided both
opportunities and challenges for companies operating business in retail sector. Globalisation has
given rise to stiff competition due to which business entities in retail industry is facing difficulty
in concentrating on the core business operations.
The present report have focus on identifying the issues faced by Tesco due to
globalisation. It also emphasizes on analysing the strategies which can be adopted in order to
deal with issues or challenges originate due to globalisation.

Rationale for selecting the topic
The rationale for selecting the topic is that there has been continuous increase in the
issues faced by companies in retail sector due to globalisation. It has been analysed that due to
globalisation structural changes has taken place due to which business entities in retail sector is
facing issue in running their business smoothly. The other reason for selecting the specific topic
is that the issue of globalisation is very broad. Significance of the study is that entrance of the

organisation in the international market becomes inevitable not only because of limitation of the
domestic market but also due to increase in globalization; the domestic market share is under
threat from foreign competition. Scholar intends to help business entity in dealing with the issues
which has occurred due to Globalisation. In addition to this, the changes in various factors such
as political m, social, economic variables due to internationalisation can give rise to other
business issues. Researcher has interest in identifying the issues or challenges faced by
companies due to Globalisation. It will assist researcher in gaining the knowledge about the
concept of globalisation and the way it is effecting the growth as well as performance of
companies in retail sector. Present research will help management in identifying the market
threats which can have adverse effect on firm performance.
LITERATURE REVIEW
According to the view of Lorange, Ichijo and de Onzoño, (2018), globalisation has given
rise top the market threats that can have adverse effect on business performance of companies
operating in retail sector. As per the opinion of Shi, Lim and France, (2018), there has been
increase in level of competition among the companies due to globalisation, which has further
given rise to high market uncertainty. The author also states that globalisation has given rise to
the intense competition due to which many organisations are facing difficulty in maintaining
their sustainability as well as position in the market.
According to the perception of
Mohr and Batsakis, (2018), globalisation has given rise to political issues due to which the firms
in retail sector is facing issues in running their business smoothly. As per the view of van Zanten
and Van Tulder, (2018), Internationalisation has bought various challenges such as economic
volatility of the integrated market which has negative effect on the profitability and growth of
companies in retail sector. The author stated that the drastic changes ha taken place in business
environment due to globalisation because of which enterprises are facing difficulty in coping up
with the same which has adverse effect on their performance. According to the view of Grant
and Yeo,(2018), globalisation has given rise to the cultural differences due to which business
entities is facing the difficulty in recruiting employees which has negative effect on performance
of organisations.

RESEARCH METHODOLOGIES
Research methodologies includes different techniques, approaches and philosophy
utilised by scholar for accomplishing desired aims and objectives. The different methods used by
researcher in present study includes:
Research type: There are basically two type of research these are the qualitative and qualitative
(Schuh and Woelk, 2017). Researcher will conduct both qualitative and quantitative research in
order to analyse the effect of globalisation on business performance of Tesco.
Research design :It is basically an arrangement of conditions which are done specially for
collection of information related to the topic. There are different types of research design these
are explanatory, exploratory, experimental and descriptive (Silverman, 2016). In present
investigation, scholar will utilise descriptive research design. Reason for selecting descriptive
research design is that it will help scholar in developing in depth knowledge about the topic.
Research approach: This is basically planned which is made on the basis of assumption related
to the different activities in investigation procedure (Niaz and Rivas, 2016). Research approach
can be categorise into two these are inductive and deductive. In present study, scholar will utilise
inductive approach. The reason for selecting the inductive research approach is that by utilising
this scholar can form new theory through using data collected from different sources.
Research philosophy : It provides detail about the techniques or methods which can be used for
collecting, analysing and interpretation information. Research philosophy can be categorised into
two these are interpretivism and positivism. In present research scholar will use interpretivism

research philosophy (Emmel, 2015). The reason for selecting the interpretivism philosophy for
investigation is that it provides researcher an ease in interpreting the result.
Data Collection: In present study, researcher will gather information related to the topic using
both primary and secondary sources. The reason for selecting the both sources is that it will
assist investigator in gathering detailed information related to the topic. Interview and
questionnaire will be used as a method for collecting primary information (Ahmed, Opoku and
Aziz, 2016). Secondary data will be gathered utilising books, Journals, magazines, annual report
of Tesco etc.
Sampling: There are basically two types of random sampling these are probability and Non
probability. In present study, investigator will utilise probability sampling, as this will aid them
in eliminating biasses. Researcher using the random sampling technique will select 30 employees
working at different department as well as position in TESCo.
Data analysis: In present investigation, qualitative technique will use for analysing the
information gathered from the different sources. In addition to this thematic analysis will also be
used by scholar (Agresti,2018). Graph, chart and table will be used for presenting the
information in systematic manner.
