Task 2
Research Methodology
Research Type:Research type indicates about the type of research, researcher is approaching
for achieving the overall objectives behind the research paper. Research can be segregated
into two types qualitative and quantitative. Qualitative type of research contains all different
qualitative information and facts. All information that involves theories, theoretical models,
strategies and other theoretical form of information are used in case of qualitative type of
research. In case of theoretical type of research specific statistical information also use to
achieve the overall objectives of research (Cam and Palaz, 2016). Quantitative type of
research comprises with only statics facts and information related to the research topic.Tools
like SPSS are used in this research type. The current research has used the qualitative type of
research as the information needed for doing this research also involve the models, theories
and different other factors that would support the researcher in achieving the overall
objectives of research.
Research Philosophy: Research philosophy is all about the concepts and philosophy of
research.Research philosophies consist up with two types positivism and interpretive.
Positivism philosophy involves conducting research based on the available facts and
information (Zhang, 2017). Interpretive philosophy is all about interpretations. Interpretive
philosophy involves concluding the research based on the interpretations over the research
topic. This research has used positivism philosophy of research.

Research Design: Research design is a design of the research. Research design is of three
types inductive, deductive and adductive. Inductive research design starts with empirical
observation, seeking patterns in those observations and then theorizing such patterns.
Deductive research design initiate the theory than it switches on developing hypotheses from
the theories available over the topic and than collecting and analysing all the information
(Will-Zocholl, 2016). Abductive research mostly based on the observation. This research is
based on the inductive research design.
Research Approach: Research approach is the plan and procedure associated with the
research. There are three types of research approaches exploratory, descriptive and
explanatory. Descriptive research approach is allabout understanding the attitude of
individuals while explanatory research approach is proposed to determine factors which
impacts on business environment directly and indirectly (Cooke, 2019). Explanatory
approach is designed to achieve logical answering over given questions. Explanatory research
approach is used for doing this research. Questionnaire method has used in completion of this
research.
Research Sampling:In order to conduct the primary research sampling is the technique that
used. Sampling is conducted with the support of two methods probably and non-probably
sampling method. Probability sampling technique is all about the random approach to collect
the information. Non probability sampling approaches all possible sources to gather
information for the research. This research has used probability sampling method to gain the
complete advantages over the research. To conduct the primary research 30 employees at
Marks and Spencer Company took participated in the research.
Data Collection: Data collection is defined as collecting the necessary and relevant
information that can support researcher in achieving the overall objectives behind the
research. Data collection is conducted with the support of two method primary method of
data collection and the secondary method of data collection. Primary method of data
collection involve collecting information with the support of individual efforts like taking
interviews and many other modes of collecting the information (Fuchs and et.al., 2017).
Secondary method involves using the already used information for achieving the overall
objectives behind the research. This research has used both the methods primary and

Data Analysis:Data analysis is the technique defined as analysing and assessing all different
information collected by researcher in the data collection stage.Data analysis is conducted
with the support of two methods like thematic and statistical analysis method. Thematic
analysis used sources and statistics to achieve the research objectives (Gordon, 2020).
Thematic analysis method is used in this research. Statistical analysis is conducted with the
support of tools like SPSS and other tools. In this research thematic analysis is used to
complete the research.

Task 4
Performance review
The whole research was based on positive economic, ethical and cultural impacts of
globalization on business functional units in the company. Literature review was
demonstrated in this research project in order to understand different viewpoints of authors
over the research topic through their published articles, research papers etc. I used literature
review to critically understand the impact of globalization on organization’s functional units.
With the support of the company, I am able to understand and evaluate different factors of
globalizations such as economic, cultural and ethical which impacts on different business
functions like accounting, marketing etc. positively through which the company is enabled to
achieve a number of benefits like establishing a strong customer base, increasing selling
revenue etc. Integrity of globalization helped the company to expand its business in multiple
countries and influence demands of it’s products in customers due to this company capable of
capturing large market share. However, I have learned that it is essential for knowing and
understanding those factors which can support a company to improve its productivity,
performance and operations in the market in an efficient manner. While making this project I
gain lots of knowledge about different strategies which has been practised for conducting
research and enhancing databases for taking appropriate decisions. This research assignment
also supported me to improve my skills for gathering appropriate information through
different technologies. Research Methodology is the scientific technique that comprises
various techniques or tools in order to collect, analyse and interpret effective information so
that logical conclusion can be drawn. Research methods are research design, research
philosophy, qualitative method etc. which have applied to collect appropriate information
while maintaining the level of quality of collected data. It also supported to identify
authenticity of the available sources so that adequate data can be collected. Data collection
method helped in distributing whole collected data related to research topic into different
Document Page
themes so that authentic and logical conclusion can be portrayed. Basically, whole research
was dependent on primary and secondary research methods in this research project so the
authenticity of gathered data was quite high as compared to others. This research topic does
not require any type of change or variation in minimum time because I already managed my
time more effectively by picking and applying available resources more promptly. In the
initial phase I was unable to understand that from where I initiated to do research but there
were some highly experienced professionals, seniors and the internet helped me in gaining all
projected goals and objectives within timeframe. While gathering information I felt that I was
lacking behind communication skills that’s why I faced various issues during communicating
with targeted sample populations. I also observed that I was lacking behind decision-making
skills initially because I was unable to make decisions while selecting research methods and
techniques which could improve the quality of my research work. So, I have decided now
that I will develop my weak areas such as communication skills, decision-making skills. I
will design a personal professional development plan in which I will enlist my all weak areas
and improve them effectively then in future if I get a similar opportunity then I could perform
better and offer an effective research project. As far as I think, entire performance in this
research assignment can rate good marks because it has achieved all framed objectives and
aim within a defined timeframe.
