INTRODUCTION
Globalisation is defined as the process of interaction among government , businesses and
people that resided over several geographical region. It plays a crucial role in the growth and
success of an organisation by providing them a medium to offer its product or services to larger
number of people despite of any national boundaries (Cavusgil and et. al., 2014). In order to
perform this investigation effectively and to determine the positive economical, cultural and
ethical impact of globalisation over functional unit of business, Marks & Spencer has been
consider which is an internation retailer.
Aim:-
To determine the positive economic, cultural and ethical impact of globalisation on
different functional unit of organisation. A study on M&S.
Research Objectives:-
To learn about the concept of globalisation.
To identify the impact of economic, cultural and ethical factor over the operations
performed by M&S at global level.
To identify challenges faced by M&S while expansion of business functions at

The concept of globalisation
As per the view point of John Williamson, globalisation is refers to as a market with
consumption of same good, interdependent production and reverting to same impulse. This
means globalisation provide a channel of trade that help in flowing of goods & services much
frequently from one place to another. It support in improving the production, research &
development practices, rise in technology etc. Globalisation also supported in improving the
level of global output which results within profit enhancement and growth of business.
Impact of economic, cultural and ethical factor over the operations performed by M&S at global
level
According to Ekberg and Lange, 2014, while expansion of business at global level there
are number of factors that have a great influence over the business operations which includes
economic, ethical and cultural factor. This is because people lives at different place are different
in term of their need, demand and expectations of customers which in turn lead M&S to change
their managerial operations in order to serve them more effectively. This in turn have a positive
impact over the operations performed by M&S as it become able to integrate the working style or
culture of different nations together.
Major challenges faced by M&S while expansion of business functions at international level
As per the view point of Katie Reynolds, 2017, When a company planning to expand
business for getting more accessible to global marketplace, the risk involve in doing business at
abroad must not be taken lightly. As there are number of challenges that are present at global
level and has been faced by M&S while its expansion. These challenges includes international
company structure, global pricing strategy, foreign law, selection of right global shipment
method, fluctuation in currency rate, cultural differences and many more. These all have an huge
influence over the operations performed by company at new marketplace.
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY:-
Data sources:- It refers to the medium or sources through which information is to be
gather for research. Data sources are of two type such as primary and secondary among
which primary data is gathered which is totally fresh and secondary data is one which
gathered from already performed investigation (Mackey and Gass, 2015). For conducting

present investigation both method will be used where primary data gathered using
questionnaire and secondary information gathered using literature review.
Type of investigation:- There are basically two type of investigation such as qualitative
and quantitative among which qualitative data is based on theoretical mean where
information is gathered in detailed manner. On other side qualitative data is based on
statistical mean of data for presenting reliability of particular information. In this
investigation qualitative mean of investigation will be performed.
Sampling:- It refers to the process of selecting group of people for gathering information
in a manner that represent population as a whole (Kumar, 2019). There are basically two
methods involve within sampling such as probabilistic and non-probabilistic. In this
report 40 respondents are taken as sample size using random sampling method under
non-probabilistic approach.
PROJECT MANAGEMENT PLAN:-
It refers to as a written document which includes a deep explanation about activities to be
performed for the accomplishment of project. There are number of factors involve within this
plan that are mentioned below:

to identify that in what manner does economy, culture and
ethical consideration of particular place influence the
performance of operational department (Kerzner, 2017). This
in turn support them in availing the benefit of these factors in
more effective manner. Hence by evaluating the impact over
functional unit M&S become able to formulate more effective
strategy which help in achieving competitive edge. Apart from
this researcher also have wider scope in this investigation as
he/she become able to improve its knowledge regarding the

conduction of an investigation.
Cost For identifying the total cost required for execution of
research a budget for activities has been formulated. From that
budget it has been identified that for performing research
£35000 are required and the estimated cost for researcher is
approx £1500.
Time The time taken by the activities involved within the
investigation is 20 weeks, and on other side the researcher
would required 4 weeks, for finishing the project.
Quality After expanding business at international level, M&S become
able to delivery high quality product or services to customer
as it get easy access to advancement and new technology
which help in catering the need of customer in new or more
effective manner (Fleming and Koppelman, 2016). On other
side the researcher is gathering data using primary source i.e.
which ensure quality of information as data will be more
authentic and reliable.
Risk M&S has to face number of risk while its expansion at global
level such as new competitors, cultural differences, employees
dissatisfaction etc. On the other hand, risk faced by
Researcher during investigation includes lack of time and cost
required for project, data loss and proper selection of sample
size etc. which may influence overall result of project.
Communication In order to communicate with employees, M&S can use
number of communicational channel which includes group
meeting, official mail, conferencing etc. Apart from this
researcher use communicational channels like social media
apps, calls, emails, messages etc. in order to interact with its

Resources In order to expand business at global level M&S require
resources like human resource, fund, raw material, building
etc. For conducting investigation researcher required resources
like computer system, research stationary items, internet
connection etc.
GANTT CHART:-
It is refer to a kind of bar chart which illustrate about the project schedule by listing up
number of task as well as activities that are required to perform on vertical axis and time taken
by them on horizontal axis. Gantt chart support in coordinating and directing the work which
help in accomplishing it on time.

CONCLUSION
From the above mentioned information it can be summarised that globalisation is
consider as one of the most crucial factor that contribute toward the growth and success of a
company as it provide several benefits such as increasing customer base, access to advancement,
new market for offering product. In addition to this it also help in improving the business
functions of an organisation by integration the culture, ethics and economy of two countries.
