INTRODUCTION
Globalization is the buzzing word of the 21st century as most of nations of the world are
opening their gates for the foreign business firms by reducing trade barriers and giving relaxation
in FDI conditions. In the current research study multiple benefits that firm receive from
globalization are evaluated. Literature review is done by considering aims and objectives.
Thereafter research methodology section is prepared and then data analysis is done. Sample of
30 people is taken and obtained results are interpreted to arrive at specific conclusion. At the end
of the report learning from entire research work is presented.
P1 Project aim and objectives for chosen scenario
In past few years globalization increased at rapid pace. With passage of time country’s
across the globe lift restrictions from the trade and this promote globalization across the world.
Organizations like world trade organization also place crucial role in eliminating trade barriers
between the countries (McElroy, 2018). In the present research study main emphasis is on
identifying positive impact of globalization on business functions in terms economic, cultural
and ethical factors. In order to carried out research study aim and objectives are prepared which
are given below.
Aim: To identify positive economic, cultural, and ethical impacts of globalisation on different
business functions within organisations.

Research questions
Document Page
What are the positive changes in terms of economic factor that are observed in the business firm
due to globalization ?
What are the cultural changes that happened due to globalization and have positive impact on the
business firm?
What are the ethical changes that are observed in the company due to globalization and have
positive impact on it?
In the present research study by addressing these aims, objectives and research questions impact
of globalization on Tesco will be identified.
P2 Project management plan that cover aspect of cost, time, quality,
communication, risk and resources
While carrying out project it is important to carry out detailed discussion on some factors.
Hence, relevant factors are discussed below.
Cost : In order to control cost of the research work efforts will be taken and it will be
ensure that with full efficiency all tasks are performed. So that within less or reasonable
time they can be completed. This will lead to control of cost of the research project. Time : Specific deadlines in terms of hours are determined in order to ensure that all
tasks related to project are completed on time and at appropriate cost. Quality: In order to complete project on time compromise can not be done with quality.
Hence, due to this reason periodic checking of activities will be done (A.J. and Al-Aali,
2015). This will ensure that all activities of project are not only completed on time but
also in proper manner. Communication: Regular follow ups will be taken from those that are engaged in the
project so that if there is any hindrance, it can be solved on time. Risk: There are some of the risks that are associated with the project like less sample size
or poor quality of sample. Such kind of mistakes can generate wrong results. In order to
deal with such kind of problems it will be ensured that sufficient sample size is taken all
sample units have sufficient knowledge of the project.

Figure 3Network diagram
PERT is the common approach that is used for project planning and scheduling. In the current
report also this approach is used to identify that when specific activity will be started and comes
to end. This approach also assists in determining sequence in which activities must be performed.
In the current project there are multiple steps that will be performed. Under this first of all aims
and objectives are prepared. This is because these are the points which pave a path to start

research work. After preparing aims and objectives literature review will be done which will help
in identifying whatever researchers wrote in respect to research topic. After doing literature
review research methodology section will be prepared where multiple things will be decided
about way in which research will be carried out (Murtaza and et.al., 2016). After preparing
research methodology data collection will be done and finally analysis of facts to arrive at
specific conclusion in respect to research topic. In this way, entire research work will be carried
out.
P4 Qualitative research
According to Crane and et.al., (2019) globalization has very huge impact on the business
firms. On multiple fronts globalization put positive impact on the business firms. It is observed
that due to globalization firms now are able to control cost of production and services. This is
because before globalization firms were not able to import raw items at cheaper cost from
foreign nations. This is because heavy tax was charged on imported item which lead to elevation
in cost of product. However, after globalization nations lift heavy duty from import of items. Due
to all these reasons firms now are able to purchase raw items at cheaper rate. All these things
overall lead to decline in cost of production or generation of economies of scale in the business.
Thus, it can be said that globalization put positive impact on business firms production
operations in terms of cost control.
Contrary to this Hassoun and Tucker Sechrest, (2015) state that if globalization generates
economies of scale for the business firms then at same time it also creates lots of challenges for
them. Means that due to cheaper import foreign companies are making available products at
cheaper rate in the market. This is developing threat for the indigenous firms. Thus, it can be
said that on one hand globalization lead to cost control of business operations but on same time it
also lead to origination of cut throat competition between firms. Hence, globalization with
benefit also creates huge threat for the firms.
As per views of Lumby and Foskett, (2016) globalization have positive cultural impact
on the business operations of the companies. Earlier, before globalization firms have few
branches in the international market. Different countries people have different beliefs, attitude,
value system and thoughts in respect to same thing. Due to this reason conflicts among different
Document Page
nations people was common. After globalization things get changed, now single firm have
branches in multiple nations and employees in specific period of time visit different nations.
Hence, now due to globalization people are aware about each other culture and respect each
other beliefs and value systems. This is bringing group solidarity and also due to this reason
business operations are performed smoothly at international level without any problem. Thus, it
can be said that globalization have positive cultural impact on companies business operations.
Contrary to this Traer, (2018) state that even due to globalization now people of different
cultures are coming close to each other, still they are making difference between foreigners and
domestic people. This is because each country people culture and thoughts are different and on
some fronts foreign nation people and domestic people thoughts are completely opposed to each
other. In such kind of situation conflict definitely happened between people who belong to
different nations and cultures. It is observed that many times when UK and India people work
together then former nation people does not give much priority to latter nation people. In such
kind of situation conflict happened and both nations people from different perceptions about
each other. All these things lead to poor team work. Hence, it can be said that globalization does
not completely remove cultural difference between people.
According to Coombe, (2017) due to globalization many ethical changes comes across
nations. For example common account principles are formed that are followed by all firms of the
world. This is ensuring that by making country accounting principles as basis no company is
hiding any facts. Just suppose there are two firms which are in USA and UK and accounting
practices in both nations are different. In such kind of situations no company know that front
entity is presenting its true financial position or doing some manipulations. Due to globalization
now same accounting principles are followed across firms and due to this reason now firms
ethically present their financial statements to each other. Thus, it can be said that globalization
have ethically positive impact on firm accounting practices and play important role in building
trustworthy environment across globe.
Contrary to this Gosselin, Norris and Ho, (2016) state that even common accounting
principles are formed then also manipulation of facts happened. It is true that globalization
promote ethical behavior from firms side but still some firms manipulate their performances in
order to enter in to big deals so that profitability can be increased and business can be sustained.

Hence, it can be said that firms are not showing completely ethical behavior and due to this
reason they do not trust each other completely.
According to Capurro, (2018) there is positive cultural impact of globalization on
marketing operations of the business firms. It is observed that at time when there was
globalization at very small level firms makes a lot of mistakes in their marketing operations that
were carried out in foreign nations. Due to this reason many firms were forced to stop their
business operations in foreign nations. In today era all nations of world remove restrictions and
allow free trade. Hence, now firms are opening their branches in multiple nations of the world.
Now, people visit each other nations regularly due to office work and this lead to development of
each other language, cultural and moral values. All these things now help firms to determine the
way in which they can launch their marketing campaigns in better manner in foreign nations.
Thus, it can be said that globalization have culturally positive impact on the firms marketing
operations.
Contrary to this Dierksmeier and et.al., (2016) it is true that globalization help firms in
understanding other nation’s people culture in proper manner but this do not make marketing
easy for the firms. This is because in today time period there are number of marketing channels
through which product marketing is done. Hence, there is very high cut throat competition
between the business firms that are operating in the international market. In today era, it is very
important to have deep understanding of the people needs and wants as well as thinking that they
have towards competitor brands. By following different technique marketing can be done
successful in the foreign nations.
Research methodology
Research design: There are three types of research designs namely descriptive,
exploratory and experimental research design. All these research designs are used in
different cases. Exploratory research design is used when one is carrying out research
from start and does not know anything about research topic (Kumar, 2019). When
researcher intend to develop knowledge on topic from first point exploratory research
design method is used. On other hand, in case researcher have brief knowledge about
research topic but intend to enhance its knowledge more about research topic then in that
Document Page
case descriptive research design method is used. Third method for research design is
experimental research design which is carried out when one intend to carry out scientific
research. In the present research study descriptive research design will be used and in
respect to this appropriate method will be used to conduct research. Research approach: There are two research approaches namely inductive and deductive
approach. Both these approaches are inverse of each other. In case of inductive approach
model is prepared in respect to research topic and quantitative research is done. On other
hand, in case of deductive approach is one under which first of all hypothesis is prepared
and same is tested by using statistical methods (Mackey and Gass, 2015). In the present
research study both approaches will be used. Research philosophy: There are two types of research philosophy namely interpretivism
and positivism. Former research philosophy is used when qualitative research is carried
out and latter research philosophy is used when scientific research study is carried out. Data collection: In order to collect data sample of 30 people will be taken which are
employees of Tesco which is giant retail sector firm of the UK. Questionnaire will be
distributed among and collected response will be analyzed by using suitable approach. Sampling: For sampling appropriate method will be used and under this cluster sampling
method will be used (Silverman, 2016). In this approach as sample unit employees
working at different level or positions and different geographic area will be taken in to
consideration. Data analysis: In order to analyze data charts will be prepared and then interpretation of
same will be done to draw specific result from raw data. Ethical considerations: Entire data collected will kept secret so that personal information
of sample units can not be leaked. Apart from this, collected data will be cross checked in
order to ensure that on part of data entry no mistake is made.

P6 Recommendation on basis of data analysis
On the basis of above data analysis it can be recommended that globalization is having
due importance for the business firms. Globalization lead to elimination of trade barriers across
nation which helps firms business firms in generating economies of scale in the business. Thus, it
is recommended that business firms must try to internationalize their business so that cost cutting
can be done in the business (Crothers, 2017) . Cost cutting lead to reduction in cost of production
and elevation of profit in the business. It is also recommended that business firms must try to
increase contact among employees that belong to different nations. By doing so group solidarity
can be increased in the business and this will help company in running its business successfully
across the globe. It is well known fact that if there is lack of cooperation between teams that
belong to different nations business firms face a lot of difficulties in operating their business in
overseas market. Due to this reason business firms must promote contact between employees of

varied nations so that deep understanding in respect to each other culture and value system can
be developed between them. Companies must prepare a separate team whose main task must be
to understand foreign nation people belief, attitude and thinking so that accordingly marketing
strategy and advertisement can be prepare (Batova and Clark, 2015). It is observed that many
times without proper understanding of foreign nation culture firm start business in foreign nation
and face huge loss. Thus, it is very important to form separate team at workplace which will
solely be responsible to understand foreign market people behavior.
P7 Value of undertaking research and learning
There is high value of the present research study because it is focusing on multiple fronts.
In the present research study significance of globalization is identified by finding out its cultural,
ethical and economical positive impact on the business firms. Important thing that is learned is
that globalization not only economically makes business firms strong but also helps them to run
business smoothly across the nations in the international market (Roach, 2017). It is very
important to ensure that there is proper coordination among employees of the firm across the
nations (4 positive impacts of globalization on world economy., 2013).Deep cultural understanding
bring group solidarity in the organization and lead to better coordination among teams operating
in varied nations across the globe. Thus, it can be said that on front of culture firms need to pay
due attention so that business can be run smoothly in the international market.
CONCLUSION
On the basis of above discussion it is concluded that globalization have both positive and
negative impact on the business firms. Globalization helps companies to control cost of their
products and services and provide them opportunity where they can promote knowledge sharing
among employees of the organization. This lead to development of human resources in the firm.
Consequently, elevation in revenue is observed in the business. It is also concluded that if there
is deep understanding among people of different nations about each other culture then in that
case better coordination between teams is observed. Such kind of thing also help companies in
performing their marketing operations in efficient and effective manner in the international
market.
