Introduction
This unit describes the globalization and its impact on the growth of an organization as
globalization is a term that refers to intermixing of different economies, cultures, idea, and
peoples. Through globalization, it has made the world a single platform for organizations and
people from different countries and places for collecting and interacting with each other. It offers
opportunities for many organizations along with so many challenges. In this, companies have to
coordinates with different needs of people, different cultures, and various factors that affect the
services and people. The multinational organization “Tesco PLC” is a British general
merchandise and groceries retailer in the Hertfordshire, UK. It is known as the largest retailer at
third number according to gross revenues. It has around 450,000 employees in the organization
and it is planning to expand their business all over the world. Every organization needs to
struggle for survival and changes in economic, social, political, technological and activities of a
business, communication, and transport, etc. Tesco is active in the international market so it has
substantial platforms and resources by branch networks that are situated in different countries on
the basis of characteristics of different market. Tesco is situated in one country but has a business
in many countries. International business development comes with globalization phenomenon of
markets. It also refers to countries growing interdependence and economic integration
worldwide. Company internationalization refers to a firm tendency that enhances the business
activity’s international scope and globalization stands for economical relation between countries.

P2 Examine appropriate research methods and conduct primary and secondary
research.
As in the context of globalisation, the Tesco Plc. the organisation is considered to
understand the methodology of research to explore their organisation worldwide. The
organisation used a research method to adopt and understand the culture, the way of living
and other laws of a specific place where they want to establish their business (Knudsen, et
al., 2015) . In this report, the methods of research used by Tesco Plc. the organisation in the
strategy of expanding or exploring organisation worldwide are discussed. To stable or
explore business in another region, state or country, there is need of specific research to
know about the competitors of that region, values, and laws to stable and run the business
according to the local government or state government. There are mainly two research
methods available which help in conducting research of specific region are primary and
secondary. Below is the explanation for both of the methods (Peters & Halcomb, 2015) . The
collection of data and analysis of data are the two main terms to define the research. The
considered appropriate method of research is quantitative as it based on the numerical data,
statistical data. The two data collection methods used in the research methodology are
following.
Primary research – The primary research is defined when the researcher or the organisation
itself (the third party also involved in this primary research on behalf of the main
organisation) involved in researching using various tools like survey methods, interviews,
observations, group focusing. The primary research is based on a specific problem or issue.
The primary data researches are also very cost effective and take less time as compare to
other research methods (Almalki, 2016) . The primary data collection in research is further
divided into two approaches as qualitative research and quantitative research. The
Qualitative research method is based on the interaction between two or more than two
persons including group conversation etc. to collect data for the research purpose. In the
quantitative methods, the data of research are in numerical forms. The data is converted in
numerical or statistical form for analysing of data which is easy to understand and remember
(Quinlan, et al., 2019) .

Secondary research – In the research method of secondary, the data which is already
existing or prepared by another researcher earlier is used by improving or developing
according to current uses. This method of research is extra cost-effective than the research
methods of primary approach because the data used in this research is already available in
articles, books, newspapers, it does not take additional effort to collect new data. The
secondary method of research is also quick and fast in conducting research (Bryman, 2017).

M1 Evaluate different research approaches and methodology, and make justifications for
the choice of methods selected based on philosophical/theoretical frameworks.
The problem or issues is the main factor behind choosing appropriate research approaches for the
research
Qualitative research approach (Inductive research approach) – The research process includes the
study of humans behaviour, thinking and way of living through a number of ways like using
questionaries’ in interviews, surveys, online surveys and another face to face interactions
schemes (McLaughlin, et al., 2016). This method helps the researcher to understand the
experiences, behaviour including human nature, emotions, feeling and beliefs (Peters &
Halcomb, 2015).
Quantitative research approach (Deductive research approach) – In this approach, variables are
taken to represent the collected data in the research. The most preferable data collection method
used in this approach is the primary method. However, secondary methods of data are also
converted in the variable to represent the numerical and statics form of data. The research report
prepared using the quantitative methods include the numerical value which can be easily
measured, analysed (Barnham, 2015).
Mixed research approach – In this approach, the research includes the data of both quantitative
and qualitative approaches. In the mixed research approach, it combines the qualitative and
quantitative approaches of research to deliver a comprehensive understanding and detail of
research, than any other research approaches (Walliman, 2017).
Framework showing Philosophical and theoretical-
The method of mixed research includes the theoretical and philosophical framework as this
method includes the approaches of both research methods. A philosophical framework includes
the interconnection of worldviews of philosophical, research methods and design. The four
worldviews elements are postpositivism, Pragmatism, Transformative and Constructivism
(Barnham, 2015).

D1 Critically evaluate research methodologies and processes in application to a business
research project to justify chosen research methods and analysis.
Tesco Plc. organisation implement approaches of methodologies in the research of specific
region to explore the organisation globally. The organisation uses both the primary and
secondary method of data collection for research. The organisation uses the qualitative and
quantitative research methodologies in research to assemble data in textual form and in variables
term (Walliman, 2017).
According to (Eerkes-Medrano, et al., 2015), the qualitative methodologies can be easily
implemented in business research to know about the business policy, consumer behaviour,
influence of competitors on the market, trend in the marketplace, buyers desires of that particular
region where organisation want to enter in the market. The Tesco Plc. organisation use survey
method and interviews by interacting with people of that region to understand the political and
behaviour of humans of that region.
According to (Mills, et al., 2017), methodologies of quantitative research is based on the
numerical data, it collects the data in forms of variables. In this research, the researched data can
be measured in term of mathematical or computation form. The technique of computational can
be easily implemented to implement ideas for business.
