IMPACT OF GLOBALISATION
1. Research proposal
Research title:
Impact of globalisation on labour migration between countries: A case study of Tesco, Poland
Research aim and objectives
The aim of this research is to identify the impact of globalisation on labour migration between
nations for Tesco, Poland. The research objectives are:
To evaluate the effect of globalisation on labour migration among several countries
To identify the main factors, which could be effect on the labour migration in terms of Tesco
in the region of Poland
To review the main issues while dealing with the labour migration in Tesco
Research questions are:

2. What are the main problems face by Tesco while assess the effect of globalisation on labour
migration?
3. How multinational companies like Tesco would get the benefits of labour migration in the
region of Poland?
Background of the research
In recent times, globalisation is the main driving force to assess the labour migration between
countries. In case of Tesco, globalisation has developed migration much easier through better
communication, dissemination of valuable data through the mass media. It is one of the enlarging
trades and investment flows for the company in several regions that further facilitate the awareness
and interest in migration. However, globalisation has reinforced the movement of skilful employees
who move with multinational movement and FDI flows (Rodriguez and Mearns, 2012). In Poland,
multinational companies like Tesco would like to fire skilled workers, technicians and professional
managers that are welcomed by the country to attract overseas investment.
Reason for selecting the topic

IMPACT OF GLOBALISATION
The impact of globalisation on the labour migration in case of Tesco in Poland is extremely attractive
one. It is major reason to select the research project. In Poland, Tesco will apply labour migration to
gain the maximum amount of information about the market. Based on this, the company would
succeed to open their stores in several regions of Poland. Thus, globalisation has also enlarged
economic disparities among nations (Czaika and De Haas, 2014). The grocery company is famous
for their service along with productivity. In contrast to labour migration, the company delivers their
items in 200 countries and company has to hire eastern European employees to retain their market in
Poland. In such case, migration effects on the labour supply of company, as the HR management
must appoint skilful workers to expand their business. This project would support to recognise the
pre and post-effect of globalisation on labour migration of Tesco. On the other hand, the researcher
may try to emphasize the role of workers in Tesco (Mewes and Mau, 2013). Besides, the report
would also aim to assess the main effects of globalisation on the labour migration in case of Tesco.
Research significance
In this topic, researcher will emphasize the effect of globalisation on labour migration between
several countries. Further, the employees of Tesco have been selected to know the effects of
globalisation. This research will maintain to identify the features of labour migration in case of
globalisation. It would also help to know the importance for workers in company and way the
company utilizes them to get the maximum benefits from competitive market. Thus, this can also
develop the knowledge about the globalisation along with company. Thus, this paper may use as
suggested article for one more projects in upcoming years.
Literature review
Globalisation drive to promote the labour migration of Tesco
In the recent days, globalisation is a main driving force to promote the labour migration among
nations. As opined by Benería et al. (2012), globalisation with its connected liberalization policies
has resulted in a huge enlargement in mobility of labour across borders. It also has a tendency to
erode the autonomy and sovereignty of nations. In case of Tesco, it is an integral part of their
business success. It made the migration much easier through better communication and developed
transport between others. As noted by Borjas (2015), globalisation is a progression by which local
markets, beliefs and humanities have become united through a global straddling system of
communication and trade. In Poland, Tesco can integrate the free trade of products and services
among nations and it may allow the employees to be performed easily around the world. Thus,
impact of globalisation is calculated as the leading characteristic of larger companies while dealing

IMPACT OF GLOBALISATION
with labour migration. In recent times, it seems that grocery segments are enormously affected by
globalisation as their management adopts labour migration in their marketing strategies.
According to Mewes and Mau (2013), migrant workers are the substitutes of existing employees and
it will be expected to increase the competition in terms of employment. Thus, company may reduce
the wages by using labour migration. In case of jobs, the low skilful workers are anticipated to
countenance more competition from migrants as the skills are required for the company are easier to
acquire and less specialized. To control the Poland market, Tesco has to introduce the technical
advancement and deliver high quality products to their customers.
Main problems face by Tesco while dealing with labour migration in Poland
In the era of globalisation, multinational companies as if Tesco is adhering towards outdated
structure and patterns of mobility. In addition to Czaika and De Haas (2014), company mainly
operates reactively instead of planning of future. In Poland, expansion of international trade made the
unjust interactions among several organisations. It has seemed that Tesco would detain the
marketplace of Poland considerably with their business policies. As argued by Stromquist and
Monkman (2014), internet has the significant feature that enables Tesco to reasonable as well as
obtains the perimeter in Poland market. The company has to recruit new employees for several
reasons like enlargement in project scope, operating. While dealing with migration, HRM of Tesco
also faces several challenges such choose the proper applicant and building the hired applicant well
known with culture as well as environment. In such case, company has to prefer the candidates that
are not precisely specialist in the working field. It also affects the productivity of company. Due to
globalisation, labour migration is seemed to a huge problem for company in Poland. As noted by
Favell (2014), appointing workers is not only the issues that company faces, and retaining them is
also one. Employee retention is a significant aspect to minimize the turnover rate of company. Thus,
it is the major challenges for company as they expand their business in the region of Poland. On the
other hand, minimizing the cost and enlarging the profit is essential for the company’s production. In
spite of labours effort, company may obtain unsatisfactory outcomes. In this case, company must
analyse the situation and develop a proper conclusion for the employees.
Factors obtain from the globalisation in terms of labour migration
According to Liang et al. (2015), it has found that Tesco has a well-known and increased market
base in the recent world. The trades of groceries comprise the most hostile customer base in the
world. In addition to, Tesco grips the foremost place in retail sectors all round the world.
Additionally, globalisation dents many center features of the nation. Factors are obtained from the
effects of globalization:

IMPACT OF GLOBALISATION
Migration has a propensity to enlarge and turn out to be different in cultural and social
character. As argued by Baek and Shi (2016), in Poland, Tesco perform their best efforts to
motivate positive types of employment like expert and industrial relocation and the company
stops other things. However, it would be inflexible to create the clear distinctions and to
implement the rules and regulations for labour.
As opined by Mewes and Mau (2013), company has developed latest transport technology to
enlarge the size of repeated, temporary and circulatory migration. In such case, the rising
numbers of migrants develop their lifestyle in the society and make the transitional
communities along with awareness.
Highly skilful employees are obtained from this migration. Company may motivate them to
offer several rewards and respect. In such case, whole relatives shift toward the countries like
Poland for having the quality lifestyle and services. Revisiting migrants are the significant
mediators of social, economical and cultural change.

Research strategy
Research strategy is the foremost and critical parts of any research. This describes the possible way
of strategy, which will be following by the researcher to carry the project with perfection. The
researcher would acquire the semi-structured approach because it would be the proper strategy to
develop this research paper. In this, interview strategy would be chosen by the researcher (Jamshed,
2014). Semi-structured interview strategy can help him to look into the factors related to the
migration of the labours as the effect of globalisation in Tesco Company.
Sample size
Sample size of any research is a fixed number and this will not vary in any situation. The researcher
will take four managers from Tesco Company to interpret the interview process perfectly.
Data analysis technique
Data analysis would capture support from the significant information as it deals with unprocessed
information along with figures. This qualitative data would collect from this raw information.
Further, it provides the proper evidence to support the hypothesis. Several softwares may be utilized
complimentary cost to analyse the valuable information (Khan, 2014). However, software like
Microsoft excel utilize to draw the graphs.
Ethical Issues
Every research paper deals with several types of ethical consideration and researcher need toward
pursue those to save the paper from the rejection stamp. Every company has some rule and regulation
in terms of their important documents, other stuffs and the researcher need to maintain the privacy of
company. All important documents and data of the company need to protect by the researcher and
make sure that no data has misplaced. The researcher will not get sufficient time in order to solve
everything with precision. Therefore, some errors might be there from the researcher’s side those
will not help the research to make perfect.

Figure 1: Research onion
(Source: Saunders and Rojon, 2014)
The above figure shows the research onion of this report. Research onion may be considered as the
overview of entire research process. With the help of this research onion, research methodologies can
be designed.
Research Design
In this following research, an explanatory research design will be adapted. As opined by Brown et al.
(2013), explanatory research is a kind of research where the whole research will be conducted based
on explanatory knowledge. To proceed with this research idea, the researcher needs a prior
knowledge about the objective and other information. This approach is widely used during
interviewing any personnel. In this following context, explanatory research method will be adapted
because the actual effects of globalisation on labour migration will be performed by interviewing
managers of Tesco. Hence, this explanatory research will help researcher to enhance their topic
understanding and that would seem easier for concluding the overall research.
