INTRODUCTION
Globalisation refers to a process of enhancing the integrating and interaction among
people, companies and government of different countries for promoting trade practices. The
globalisation of business is a significant option to expand a business as it support a company to
get new market to offer their services and at the same time also provide it with a competitive
edge (Cohen and Jaidi, 2014). For performing this study Microsoft is taken into consideration
which is a large multinational software company which offer its services throughout the world.
1.1 Identify a specific researchable topic area
This investigation holds academic significance as it support the students in getting an
understanding regarding the changes that globalisation brings to a business and how leadership
help in dealing with that issue. As Microsoft is a multinational software company which has its
presence in several different countries, but as each nation is different in its cultural believes it
become quite difficult to deal and integrate with that effectively. Therefore, to align employees
with the requirement of company, leaders have to change their leadership style to match up with
the present circumstances.
1.2 The importance of the problem
This investigation is crucial as it help in providing an understanding regarding the
positive and negative impact that globalisation brings over leadership performed within an
organisation (von Furstenberg, 2017). This information in turn further support other businesses
to improve their leadership practices to deal with the challenges they get to face at global level.

According to the view point of Lumby, J. and Foskett, N., 2016., globalisation of
business bring up several changes to an organisation as by entering over international platform it
get surrounded with several different factors that are new to business but at the same time holds
huge significance for its success. But it remains difficult to implement these changes in
organisation effectively due to difference in term of culture, social difference, technological
barriers and different infrastructure. Therefore, at that time it become very crucial for an
organisation to keep its leadership guidance to employees stronger so that they remain confident
and be able to implement these changes to workplace effectively. In addition to this it also
contribute toward leading the business practices in right direction so that competencies can be
implemented toward achieving better outcome.
