Executive Summary
Thomas Friedman says that the present world is a flat and is experiencing globalization
which is based on individuals. This is put forward by Thomas Friedman in his book World is
Flat. According to Friedman, due to the globalization, the size of the world is consistently
shrinking and it has resulted in different types of the entrepreneurship into the present
globalization era. The organizational culture is one of the vital aspects of maintaining a balance
and good working environment in the workplace. The definition of culture although varies from
one person to another and also from one organization to another.

1. The key drawbacks or the risks of living in a flat world of Globalisation 3.0 as Friedman
describes it are as follows:
Living in the flat world leaves a man with less time to act on his ideas.
Considering the internet age, and the speed with which information spreads is
beyond imagination. The globalization 3.0 focuses on how the world has reduced
in size with respect to globalization. The focus is now on an individual and how
he will execute his ideas for the purpose of entrepreneurship (Friedman 2005).
The shrinkage of the size of the world with respect to the Globalization 3.0 has
resulted into individuals satisfy his entrepreneurial ideas. In this era of
globalization, an individual has to look for the ways of how to make the
entrepreneurial ideas a success. If an individual has ideas in his mind, then he
must act fast to make them work in reality. Else, if the same idea comes into
another person’s mind then the first person might lose the chance to build upon
his ideas.
This leaves with the final word that the intellectual property and ideas are not safe
in this era, because ideas either get copied or are presented into another form
irrespective of any geographical barrier (Friedman 2005).
2. The iron rule of the flat world states that what can be done will be done. This means that if an
idea is practical enough then such idea must be turned into a reality within a short period of time.
I agree with this proposition of Friedman's rule because it emphasises on the most practical

innovation regarding a product design just emerges from a person's mind. A person needs to act
with speed in order to make the idea a reality, or someone else might employ the same idea and
make a fortune out of it. Imagination is the key in the flat world and the main aspect of the of this
flat world concept is the whatever can be done will be done. Friedman points out that “will that
be done by you or to you”. The present world has a variety of connectivity and different types of
tools related to innovation. For example, if a person has a good idea in Sydney, it is important to
note that the someone in Seattle can have the same idea seconds later (Smh.com.au., 2018).
3. The effect of the globalization is not the same across the world, and the main reason behind
the non-uniform levels of globalization is the cultural difference. The cultural difference is
deeper and there are certain superficial signs which are that exist in different countries and it is
of more concern regarding the relationship and the attitudes of the people. Management
techniques work differently for the different cultures and the management technique is perceived
in a different way in different countries. Thus it is important to mention that neither the new
technologies nor the global brands are able to create the uniform amount of globalization. Also,
another major point to note that the non-uniformity in the levels of globalization also occurs due
to technology, politics, economy and religion. Globalization in the true sense is the process
through which the organizations and the other businesses develop the international influence and
begin operating on an international scale. The different nations present different types of
challenges for the business innovators to innovate products that will be in accordance with the
trends that exist in a particular country. Such differences act to hinder the true effects and the
impacts to spread evenly throughout the world (Bastos and Straume 2012).

Organizational Culture
1. people's definition of culture may vary because, with different culture across different nations,
the concept and the constituents of the culture also changes. A reasonable definition is necessary
for a strong connection needs to be developed between the vital elements of an organization
along with the culture, like the incentive systems and the structural systems. Also, the other
reasons for the definition variance are the lack of the development of the good approaches in
relation to defining the culture, and transforming and preserving culture. This, in turn, will define
the culture of an organization that will help in the diagnosis of the and also to develop and design
the better culture problems. The definition of culture varies due to its dynamic nature and the
way changes from one organization to another. The culture of one organization becomes an
established one due to the core culture which is prevalent in an organization (Harvard Business
Review 2018).
2. the definition of culture with which I agree the most is the view of Alan Adler. He says that in
the workplace, organizational culture is the civilization. Culture is considered as a social control
system and it focuses on the role of the culture that reinforces and promotes right kind of
behaving and thinking. The role of the culture also includes the removal and the reduction of the
wrong behaving and thinking. The vital part in the idea and the definition of the culture is the
behavioural norms which must be upheld and penalties are imposed on those people that do not
maintain or work within the rules in the workplace. The view proposed by Alan also includes the
emphasis that is put on how the organizations actually shaped the culture (Harvard Business
Review 2018).

Conclusion
From the above study, it can be concluded that due to the effects of globalization 3.0 the
world is experiencing a shrinkage in size. The emphasis now is much more on the
entrepreneurial capacities of an individual and in his ideas. The organizational culture is also
another important aspect of workplace discipline and it includes the people and the employees
play a vital part in the success of the organization.
