INTRODUCTION
The global environment has been experiencing significant changes in the recent time which
result in significant influence on different areas. The major implications have been observed
on the business functioning in the developing countries and globalization helps in the
growth of the economy and resolving poverty issues. Globalization offers tremendous
opportunities to Ukraine for expansion and transformations. The following research study is
undertaken for assessing the impact of globalization on developing countries taking the
example of Ukraine. The research would include the development of project management
plan, undertaking qualitative and quantitative research, collecting data through primary and
secondary sources and providing meaningful conclusions and recommendations at the end
of the research to attain the desired objectives of the study in an efficient manner.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT
DEFINITION
Project management could be defined as a practice of organising and managing resources to
achieve specific goals or complete specific task or project. A project has a pre-determined
lifespan. It involves planning and arranging resources to perform specific tasks within a
specific time (Kerzner, 2017).
STAGES OF PROJECT MANAGEMENT
There are five stages of Project management:
 Initiation: it involves measuring the feasibility of the project by using the business
case document and feasibility study. The feasible and profitable projects are carried
to the next level (Meredith, et al., 2017).
 Planning: it involves the development of a well-written project plan that determines
the resources and time to complete the project along with giving direction on the
risk handling, quality assurance, etc.
 Execution: it involves the implementation of the developed project plan and requires
the active participation of members and managers.
 Monitoring: it may also combine with execution as it requires constant monitoring
of the process and progress of the project (Meredith, et al., 2017).
 Closure: it is the final stage where is closed after delivering the required outcomes.
ADVANTAGES AND IMPORTANCE OF PROJECT MANAGEMENT
Project management is a very effective tool that is very important for achieving business
goals with fewer risks, uncertainties and clear goals and objectives. The key advantages and
importance of project management are;
 It supports in Strategic alignment and designing of project activities.
 It ensures proper planning; clear Focus and Objectives for execution.
 It ensures the quality of deliverables and process through quality control.

 It facilitates risk handling and mitigation (Meredith, et al., 2017).
INITIATION OF PROJECT
TITLE
“Assess the implications of globalisation on socio-economic aspects of developing countries-
A case of Ukraine”
BACKGROUND
Globalisation has intensified worldwide social relations through the integration of global
economies and compressing the time-space element. The increasing socio-economic
interconnectedness is having a great impact on the developing countries that are still trying
to meet the pace of globalisation and define their place in the international system
(Orozalieva, 2010). So, this study would try to examine how developing countries adapt and
respond to the rapid pace of globalisation and how it is affecting the economy and social
aspects of a developing country. This project will study the impact of globalisation on an
Eastern European developing country ‘Ukraine’. In recent years Ukraine socio-economic
condition is developed and experienced a gradual growth consistently from the last three
years (WFP, 2019).
RESEARCH QUESTIONS
1. How Globalisation affects the socio-economic aspects of a developing country?
2. What are the benefits of globalisation to a developing country in terms of socio-
economic development?
3. What are the consequences of globalisation to a developing country in terms of
socio-economic development?
AIMS
This project will try to understand the implications of global social and economic processes
on the socio-economic development of a developing Country Ukraine, and what are the
benefits and limitation of globalisation to the socio-economic development of Ukraine.
OBJECTIVES
 To analyse the impact of globalisation on the socio-economic factors of Ukraine.

 To determine the socio-economic benefits of globalisation to Ukraine.
 To determine the consequences of globalisation on socio-economic development of
Ukraine.
PURPOSE
The main purpose or reason for this project is to gain an understanding of how globalisation
is affecting the social and economic condition of the developing countries. This would
support in gaining a significant knowledge about the current state of globalisation and its
implications on developing nations like Ukraine. The study would be based on a functional
approach that believes that development in the global world would lead to the economic
growth of the nations.
PROJECT SCOPE
This study would support Ukraine and other developing nations in shaping public policies
and creating favourable condition for the development of the economy. Through this study,
the developing European nations would understand the extent to which globalisation is
affecting their internal socio-economic condition and can develop effective planning to
minimize the negative impact of globalisation on the nation in long run.
DELIVERABLES
This project would deliver significant knowledge about the impact of globalisation on the
social and economic conditions of Ukraine. It will depict the benefits and consequences of
Globalisation on the socio-economic development of Ukraine by applying the qualitative
and quantitative approaches to research.
PROJECT PLAN
A formal document comprising all the essential elements guide, control and execute a
project is known as the project plan (Burke, 2013). The different elements of this project are
planned as follows;
TIMESCALES
Timescale is developed to allocate a specific time to achieve the objectives of the project to
ensure its feasibility and significance (Burke, 2013). This project is planned to complete

within the timeframe of 10 weeks from initiation. A milestone schedule is prepared for
developing a coherent timescale.

It involves the development of a budget and required funding to acquire resources and
perform project activities. The Budget of around £25,000 will be required to complete this

QUALITY
Quality management is an essential aspect of a project that is required to control the project
outcomes and meet the desired objectives within the set time. The quality of the project
process and outcomes would be managed through the approaches of Quality planning,
assurance and control. This would ensure quality at every stage of project management.

RISK AND ISSUES
Risks are innate in every project. The only way to mitigate risk and limit its consequences is
through identifying risks and developing an effective risk management plan. In this project,
the identified risks are disputes and conflicts, technical risks, financial risks and risk of theft
and loss of information. In order to mitigate these risks a proper budget, HR, the cost
structure is prepared in advance (Burke, 2013). Moreover, the technical risks and threat of
data loss could be handled through keeping alternatives and copy of data.
RESOURCES
Resources are anything that is required to complete a project including facilities, people,
equipment, money or material (Meredith, et al., 2017). The key resources for this project
are team members, money, equipment, and material. The team of 5-7 members, a budget
of £25,000, computers, internet connection, mobile phones, and other technical
instruments would be required to complete this project.

WBS STRUCTURE
Work-Breakdown Structure (WBS) breaks down the project activities into smaller and easily
understandable components. It is used to organise the project work in different manageable
sections. It can be effectively used to assign responsibilities and explain roles in the project.
It also supports tracking the progress of the project (Heagney, 2016). The work-break down

GANTT CHART
A Gantt chart is used to illustrate the project schedule in a bar chart format. It lists the tasks
and time intervals in vertical and horizontal axis respectively to show the time duration

PROJECT EXECUTION
After planning, comes the execution phase. Here, the primary and secondary data for the
research project is collected according to the set timelines and budget structure. The
secondary data will be collected through literature review and considered as a qualitative
data for the research while the primary data will be collected in the form of quantitative
research through questionnaire survey (Bell et al., 2018).
QUALITATIVE RESEARCH - SECONDARY DATA COLLECTION THROUGH
LITERATURE REVIEW
According to Ibrahim (2013), globalisation is a multidimensional occurrence that affects the
social, economic, political and cultural aspects of the society. In present, globalisation is
reshaping the traditional way of the assessment of the economic and social aspect of a
nation as it intensifies the social relations across the world. Pakulski and Markowski, (2014)
have explained that globalisation is a very complex phenomenon that may be considered as
a factor for the growth of economic and social development of a nation or may also result in
degeneration of an economy depending on the way a nation adapts and react to the
phenomenon.
According to Tammaru et al., (2015) Globalisation is a process of the fast development of
productive forces that is prerequisite on a global scale. In the increasing pace of
globalisation, the developing countries have to make extra efforts to meet pace with the
changing global scenario along with managing the internal economy to highlight in the
international economy.
According to Nadtochy et al. (2016), Socio-economic factors are great contributors to the
growth of a developing economy. The different socio-economic factors are differently
affected by globalism. Kayoda et al (2014) have identified the key socio-economic factors
that are responsible for shaping or measuring the social and economic condition of a nation.
Income, inflation rate, education level, and employment are the key factors that shape and
affect the socio-economic aspect of a nation.
