INTRODUCTION
The information and communication technology provides the wide range of area for
communicating the information to the needed person. The ICT provide different methods to
share the information, documents, pictures to the different users in single time. They also provide
the storage services to their user so they can store the messages for the future use. The report
highlights the comparison of different email providers on the basis of business are, features,
price, language etc. It explains the applications of the various email providers in personal and
business life. It also explains the various device on which the gmail, outlook, yahoo and different
email providers provide their services to the users and help them in storing, transferring and
managing the information. It also highlights the skills of the user needed for evaluating the
resources online.
1. Comparison of Gmail and outlook email providers
History : Gmail was released in 1 April 2004 with 1 GB of storage. It offers the storage
space much greater than the other email provider like hot-mail and Outlook which create the
rivalry among them.
Outlook was released in 1996 which was the re-brand in 2003 from hot-mail to Outlook.
In initial year it only offer the 2 MB free storage to its users. From that time it increases their

Features : Gmail offers different features to its users like conversation threading, Google
hangouts, tabbed inboxes, 50 MB per email capacity, virus and Malwae capacity, gmail labels,
15 GB email storage space, search bar, composition tool, spam filtering feature, keyboard
shortcuts, composition tools, instant messaging and Video chat, advertising support, money
transfer and payment option, Google trips, gmail labs, offline app etc.
Outlook offers the different features like focused inbox, built – in Skype, color themes,
offline access, document sharing, travel and flight itineraries, integrated apps and services,
professional formatting, advance font option etc. to their users (Kondoro and et.al., 2017).
Pricing information : Gmail offers different kind of enterprising and SMB plans to its
users. Their user can choose the best plan according to their choice. They offer the free and paid

plans to their user. The paid plans are G – suite. The pricing of G-suite basic $3 per user, G-suite
business $10 per user, G-suite enterprise is $25 per user and G-suite team $10 per user.
The pricing of outlook premium starts with the $19.95 per year, office 365 home is $9.99
per month and office 365 personal is $6.99 per month.
Language support : Gmail support the different languages in their system like English,
Turkish, Polish, Swedish and Dutch.
Outlook only support the English language in their system.
Integration with different business : Gmail can be integrated with different business
through the third party program by using POP and IMAP protocols (Zhang and Williamson,
2018).
Outlook integrated with variety of business program like Dropbox, Facebook, Skype,
Paypal, Evernote, Boomerang, Uber, Yelp, Giphy etc. to provide their services to their users and
increase their market share.
Available device : Gmail available on different device like windows, Linux, Android,
Mac, Web- based, Windows mobile and Iphone or IPad.
The availability of Outlook on Windows, Web – based, IPhone/ IPad, Mac, Android and
Windows mobile. Outlook is not available on Linux, they still try to provide their servuices on
Linux so they can compete with the Gmail in more better way.
Speed : Speed of gmail is much better than outlook. Both device use the POP and IMAP
support system in their device but on the basis of the research they found that gmail is much
faster than the outlook in setting up the email and folders in their device (Francis, 2017).
User satisfaction : 98 % user are satisfied with the gmail providers and 92 % user are
satisfied with the outlook service provider.
Applicability of emails
Both gmail and outlook provide best services to their users. They are used to sent the
mail, folders, pictures etc to the family, friends and business group beside these they are also
used for chatting. They provide good storage services to their customer and used for both
personal and business purpose. Gamil and Outlook are used in small., medium and large business
(Wu and et.al., 2016,).
Gmail uses the labels for the users to provide them more flexibility. It saves the time and

more space than they can get the more space by paying more to the service providers.
Outlook is mostly used for the receiving, sending and storage the emails in the user
devices that why it also known as personal informational management tool. It also includes the
feature like calendar, task, notes, journal and contacts (Francis, 2017).
2. Skills needed for the evaluating resources online
For evaluating the resources on the web pages user needed various kind of skills so they
can easily get what they want and the result are the effective and efficient. For evaluating any
kind of information on the web page, it is needed that the information are accurate and authorize.
A user need various kind of skills to evaluate and get the right information from the web page in
proper time. The skills needed are :
Proper knowledge : The user need the proper knowledge about the topic which they
want to get the information. The proper knowledge about their topic make their work easy and
help them to get the information on time and also save their cost. The user have to know that

Writing and reading skills : Writing and reading skills are helpful in evaluating the
resources online or on different web page. The good writing and reading skills provide the exact
figures which the user want in their search or evaluating information. The good reading skills
help in get the information quickly on the web page. User can quickly get the information in over
viewing the information in a single tap (Puthal, and et.al., 2015).
Patience : The patience in the user also much needed while searching the information on
the web page or search engine. Using of improper keywords refers the different kind of
information on the search engine. The patience of the user help them in evaluating the right
information and not confuse with the different related information. On evaluating the

information related to the topic. In these situation the patience of the person help them in
ignoring the irrelevant information about the topic.
Knowledge about the web page : The proper knowledge about the web page also help
in limiting the search area. The user have to the knowledge about the web page so in their search

the information about the particular web page (Barshow, and et.al., 2017). It help them to save
their time on searching and also provide the relevant and accurate information for evaluating the
resources online.

The report summaries the uses of different email providers in the business and personal life. It
help to understand the various features of the email providers like storage, transferring data,
instant messaging, gmail labels, calender, alarm and safety and security of the information. It
also help to understand the various skills needed by a person to evaluate the relevant information
on the various web pages and how to search the information on the web pages to get the accurate
and authorize knowledge. The report concluded the uses of email provider in different business
area like small business, medium scale and large scale business and their applicability in the
business area.
