Every individual has goals in life. In everyday people strive to achieve whatever they
have stated as their goals. It may be a workplace goal or an objective in personal life. In this
assignment, it is going to focus on things that can assist one to achieve his goal and factors that
may block one from attaining what he or she wants in reference to Van Waeyenberg, Brebels &
Decramer, (2017). The three main blockers to the achievement of a goal that one may face or
anticipate soon include: -
a. Procrastination
b. Excuse
c. Negative friends or workmates.
On the other hand, the three main helpers that can assist an individual to achieve his goal
include: -
a. Creativity
b. Motivating friends
c. Consistency

challenge to deal with even in the workplace. In this task, it will analyze procrastination as a

Duru & Balkis, (2017). Apart from that, the solution will give how one can handle

HELPERS AND BLOCKERS 3
Procrastination is the act in which one postpones a task that they would have done today
to other days with the assumption that they still have time to handle it. Delaying is a severe
blocker to achieve the goal because it may make one lazy and fail to realize what he or she
desires in reference to Grunschel, Schwinger, Steinmayr & Fries, (2016). Considering
workplace, procrastination may cause stress and a lot of anxiety to an individual. For example,
every day there is a list of things that the employer needs the employee to achieve before the end
of the day. However, there are situations whereby the employee has postponed the task to the
next day. When it reaches the next day, the previous work has piled together with the last day
task; now the employee is under stress according to Martin, Edwards & Shaffer, (2015, July).
Secondly, procrastination makes an individual less productive than ever. Most of the time, one
may be working under pressure as well as disappointments for not achieving the task on time.
From this situation, one is not able to give his or her full attention to what he or she is doing but
remembering how to manage the task he had postponed the previous day in reference to Sirois,
& Pychyl, (2016).
Apart from the above effects, procrastination gives room for other blockers to come. For
instance, after postponing a task one will try to bring in excuses on why he or she had delayed
the task to the next day. However, apologies are a justification of failure. It means that the
individual has failed him or herself and even the company he is working. If the goal of the
company was to satisfy at least one hundred customers in a day, it might only achieve five
hundred or less according to Ordóñez & Welsh, (2015). Therefore, the organization has not
completed it a goal of the day. However, it is evident that almost everybody procrastinates, but
the extent of procrastination is different. Some people have made procrastination their habit, and
some time they end up losing their jobs. Now consider if he or she aimed to be a manager in an

organization, no company can accept such character traits. In psychology, it illustrates that
people who continuously postpones their task are poor time managers and, in many cases,
procrastination becomes the habit of the individual. The individuals think they have more time
than the others, but this is not true. Everyone has only twenty hours that they should try to
manage efficiently to achieve their goals. Procrastination can make you shameful, have low self-
esteem, blame others and even divert from your destiny. It is therefore essential to find helpers
that can solve the issue of procrastination.

with the situation. However, there is no attention to the long-term consequence of not completing
the task in time. For instance, if you are a secretary and you have the duty of arranging the files,
it may look challenging and stressful. Consequently, if you postpone the task, it may be
inconvenient your boss, and you may end up losing the job according to Meier, Reinecke &
Meltzer, (2016). From that perspective, before one delaying a work he or she must analyze the

procrastination.
