INTRODUCTION
Organisational behaviour is the study of human behaviour related to other elements of a
concern such as structure, technology and social system. It involves description, understanding,
prediction and controlling of human behaviour where people interact within groups. It helps in
improving the job performance, increase job contentment, promotes creativity and support
leadership(Balwant, 2018) In this report, Google is taken into consideration which is
multinational technology company which specialises in internet-related services and products.
The report will cover the culture, politics and power of an organisation that have a great
influence in team members or an individual. Further, it will discuss the theories of motivation
and techniques that enables a business concern in achieving the goals. In addition to this, it will
state the difference between effective and ineffective teams, and also discuss the concept and
philosophies of the organisation behaviour.
Analyse how an organisation's culture, politics and power can influence individual and team
behaviour and performance.
The organisational behaviour provide an insight how an employee behave and perform
his work at the workplace. It help in understanding how to motivate employees to increase their
performance level to get the goal s of a business concern. Whereas organisational culture is the
collection of the values, expectations, experiences and philosophies where people develop or
maintain similar customs, belief and attitudes in an organisation(Xiao and Cooke, 2019). With
reference to Google, Power and politics is the capability of an person to influence the action,
belief, conduct and behaviour of other team members. It is very crucial for organisational
behaviour actions of individual or groups whose description is given below:
Individual
A person in an organisation use his power to satisfy the common basic needs and provide
base to the individual in a company. An individual makes an attempt to win the scarce resources
so that they engage in the behaviour such bargaining, negotiation, alliance building and resolving
conflicts. When they involve in politics so they are bound to make mistakes and also take interest
in spoiling other person's image in front of superiors and spend their time in criticising their
fellow workers. It leads to negative environment at the workplace and as a result the employees
are not able to achieve to get the goal in stipulated time period. The politics increase the level of

stress among the employees and they have to work more then the fixed hours of working. They
also get demotivated when they are not rewarded properly and the person who has not work hard
gets the reward.
Team members
A business concern use its power and politic to control the members or employees for
attaining the goal of an organisation. It influence the process of a team and leadership in an
organisation which may be unethical and destructive(Ferris and et. al., 2019). It uses it personal
tactics to fulfil the interest of a business by achieving the goal of a organisation. The team
members are not allowed to give their hundred percent result because of their loss of interest in
work. The whole team is not able to concentrate on the work and the responsibilities that are
assigned to them. The members who are involved in politics manipulate the information and
never disseminate in the appropriate form.
Evaluate how content and process theories of motivation and motivational techniques enable
effective achievement of goals in an organisation
Motivational theories are the concepts that drive a person and force to work towards the
goal of an organisation. It is the energy that force an individual to work hard to get something so
there are various theories that has been made to motivate the employees because motivated
employees are more productive and profitable to a company. In context to Google, content and
process theories are described as under:
Content theory
This theory explains what people need in their lives by understanding their wants and
how they can be motivated. So here is the theory of motivation which are depicted below:
Maslaw hierarchy needs: This theory was introduced by Abraham Maslaw which states
that how people are motivated to fulfil their basic needs(Dasaev, 2018). He has defined basic
needs that he believed to be very important to motivate them which are as under: Psychological needs: These are the very basic need of an individual which are necessary
for the survival such as air, food, water sleep etc. if these need are not met then the person
is motivated to fulfil these need before moving to other needs. Safety needs: when the psychological needs are accomplished then safety needs arises
where people want to live at the safer place. These needs include safety of health or
wellness, financial security, safety against accident or injuries etc.

Social needs: Once the above needs are fulfilled then social needs arises where a person
wants to be accepted by all of the society. It involves friends, family, social group,
community group and so on where an individual wants to feel love in order to avoid
anxiety or loneliness. Self esteem needs: This need refers to self respect, self confidence, feeling of being
unique and so on. With the help of these needs an individual is able to feel the sense of
power or control and becomes more confident.
Self actualization needs: These are the need where people wants to be self aware and
concerns with personal growth. They have less concern with the opinion of the other
people and always interested to fulfil their potential.
In context to Google, when it applies this theory so it will help in motivating the
employee which results in more production by them with great enthusiasm and confidence. This
will assist an organisation to increase the profitability and market share.
Process theory
This theory focuses on the psychological and behavioural processes that human follow
which help in understanding the action, interaction and context that motivate individual's
behaviour. In relation to Google, this theory has been explained which are described below:
Goal setting theory: It indicates that the goals which are specific or challenging with
appropriate feedback will to higher performance ion an organisation(Ahmad, Khan, and Arshad,
2021).. With reference to Google, so here are some goal setting principle that are delineated as
under: Clarity: When the goals are clear so it can be easily measurable and achievable within
an organisation. Challenge: An individual has to confronts the challenges while achieving the goals so
these are set as which can be attainable. Commitment: Each employee has its own goal which assist in getting the big goal of the
business and also encourage motivation among the workers. Feedback: The feedback must be provided so that each employee get to know about their
performance and rewarded for the best work performed which leads to motivation.

Task complexity: When the task are more complex or difficult so the duration is specified
to complete a task that takes the company towards the success and build confidence of
worker.
Self efficiency: It is the self confidence of an individual how much potential he has to
achieve a goal. It increases the power of an individual to get the objective and encourage
motivation.
Explain what makes an effective team as opposed to an ineffective team
Team work plays an important role in an organisation because people share exchange
knowledge, ideas and know hows by working together.
Difference between effective team and ineffective team
Effective team Ineffective team
Innovative ideas Effective group use healthy conflict to
introduce creative ideas.
Whereas Ineffective group establish
agreed viewpoints to defend the
new ideas.
Decision making All the members of a group reach to
final decision with mutual consent.

leadership In a effective team a leader is always
strong whop is able to handle the
issues and provide solution over them.
But, in this, whether the leader is
strong or weak always domain the
higher position and sit at the head
of the table(Evans, 2019).
Self evaluation The team is conscious about the task
they are performing and examiner how
well it is going.
But, in this the team is always
avoid discussion and does not take
interest how the work is going on.
Division of work The group is always aware with the
task they have to perform and have
clear understanding of doing a work.

one another to share their

Tuckman model
This is a model that focuses on the ways of handling task by a team from the beginning to
the end of the work. This theory develop the maturity and ability among the workers that makes
them enable to collaborate with one another. So there are four phases which provide cooperation
in a team that are delineated under:
Forming: This is the first stage where members are gathered together to form a group
and allocate task to each of them. All members are depended on the leader for appropriate
guidance because they all want to be accepted in team(Harrison and et. al., 2018). They are
indeterminate so they avoid conflict to enter in a team.
Storming: In this stage people exchange their ideas and knowledge while addressing the
task which lead to conflict among them. This phase has many difficulty in which team has to
make strong leader by providing better solution.
Norming: this phase explains that the team has to make harmonious relationships by
accepting various policies and rules according which they have to operate. They also begin to
trust each other where roles and responsibilities are clearly defined.
Performing: The last stage informs that the members of a team have to perform their
tasks to achieve the goal of an organisation. There is true independence in performing the work
so that the development can be made of each member in group. This is really highly productive
stage of personal and professional development.
In context to Google, when it adopts the Tuckman theory for the effective team working
so all the member of an organization are able to accomplish the goals without any obstacle. They
may find the place to exchange their ideas and share their problem among the group to find a
good solution. This help in building their morale and encourage motivation that make s them
more productive and enhance profitability of the business.

attitude of the whole organisation. So here are the concept of organisational behaviour that has
been describe below:
Concept of organisational
Perception: Different people have different perception because they have separate point
of view to see the problem and the objects. They organise the things according to their interest
and interpret as per their experiences.
Individual differences: All the people in an organization are different from each other
and they have different set of ideas which originally comes from psychology(Serenhov and
Kaldera Hollu Pathiranage, 2021). They have different experience and behaviour which they
share in a firm.
Motivation: The employees have many desires that they want to fulfil so when they
perform well in an organisation so they are awarded for their good execution of work. So this
leads to encourage motivation and improvement in the working of the employees.
Mutual interest: It represents that an organisation requires the employees to get them
achieve the goals of the business concern and the people also wants that they also get something
in return for their performance such as monetary reward. So they are formed in and maintained
by the mutual interest among the participants.
Human dignity: All individual need are treated differently and with great respect within
a company because they all are different from each other so they want to be tread with great
respect and dignity.
With reference to Google, it has flat organisational structures where all employees are
given opportunities to share their opinion. The people in a company are from different
background but it encourage them to disseminate the valuable information to support the
innovation. This result in getting the excellent result and human resource development
programmes are also organised to improve the skill of the employees.
Philosophies of OB
There are five model in an organisational behaviour which are describe as under:
Autocratic: This model depends on the capability and quality where the employees have
to work under the formal authority.
6
Document Page
Custodial: This model is related to economic security that are provided to the employees
through monetary reward and other benefits which enable the worker to be loyal for the
company(Brankovic, 2018).
Collegial: This model states that all employees have to work in a group by making
collaboration.
Supportive: This model mainly focus on the employees for motivation through employee
and manager relationship.
In relation to Google, its culture is based on the philosophy where all employees are
encouraged by giving monetary reward so that they become more productive and create the
culture of creativity(Suojanen, 2018). The employees work under formal authority to support
and remain accountable for the responsibilities that are assigned to them.
CONCLUSION
From the above discussion, it has been concluded that it is important to understand the
behaviour of the human being at the work place. This helps an organisation to accomplish the
goals by understanding their wants so that it can encourage the employees toward the objective
of a business. The company motivates its employees through presenting them reward and
appreciate them for their good performance in order to make them loyal. The report stated about
the motivational theories which Google can use to motivate nits employees for building their
morale. It also discussed that how an effective team perform their work in comparison to
ineffective team and apply the Tuckman theory for making an efficient group. Further, it has
