In today’s world where every other person has a smart phone in hand to google out the
lost things, one can’t imagine their life without google, The word google means to search, it can
be used for searching a inventor of a needle to reason behind the yellowish color of nails, it can
be used for sending mails to making a video call to storing good old memories in pictures. It has
all the answers but does it provide good online privacy to its users? The answer to this question
is yes, it does. Google collects data from the apps, information provided to google account,
location details and activities done. The reasons for its data collection are improvising services,
developing new services, providing personalized services and measuring performances using
Google analytics (Google, 2019).
The google has a robust privacy policy to protect its users from being exploited. It offers
features like activity control to manage activities , ad setting where an individual can decide
which ads to be shown and can also turn off the settings of sharing personal information
provided for the relevance of ads, one can manage what others can see by managing the
information shared on the google account , one can also control the appearance of names and
photos next to reviews and recommendations provided by the users and by using google plus,
one can decide which information to share ( Ward, 2011). The users have the right to export,
remove and delete information from google services according to the requirements and to decide
the setting of items shared like on YouTube, whether it is to be made public or private
(Kuligowski, 2019).
The company has clearly specified in its privacy policy that it does not share the personal
information with any outside organizations and companies except in some instances. It shares it
with user’s consent when apps like Google Home for reservation are used for booking services
then it acquires user consent for the usage of sensitive personal information, domain
administrators who are using google services in an organization can access its member’s account,
personal information is provided to the outside companies only to process it for jobs like
supporting customers and sometimes the information is shared for some lawful reasons which
include the request from the government in compliance with newly elected laws, for the
enforcement of the service terms , to prevent and detect any kind of fraudulent practices and to
protect the Google, its users and public from any kind of harm inflicted (Kwatra, 2019). it also
provides the highest security to the information stored on google through features like data

encryption, safe browsing and security checkup. It also provides the safe transfer of data when it
is transferred across the world as there is a variation of privacy laws of every country but google
ensures irrespective of where the data is processed that it is processed keeping in account
company’s privacy policies (Google, 2019). The company with its intricately designed privacy
policy offers the best safety in today’s era of cyber-crimes (Kwatra, 2019).
