P2 Project Management plan
Project Management Plan
It is a written plan developed to identify all stages of the project in a sequenced manner.
Every stage right from initiation of the project, planning the project, its execution and then its,
monitoring and controlling to closing it, is properly documented (Bell and Harrison, 2018). Its
main purpose is to develop structure of the projects as well as to identify all the information
required to complete the project that will be communicated with all stakeholders of the project.
This provides a direction to the project manager and helps in saving unnecessary time and cost.
Components of project management plan are mentioned below:
Cost – Cost refers to the amount which company has to incur in order to complete the
research project. For completing this research, company had to spend around £650 for
information and data collection through primary sources. It had to cost around £100 more for
information and data collection through secondary sources. Therefore, it becomes important for
company to prepare a budget in advance.
Scope – This involves determining and documenting specific aspects related to project
goals, deliverables, tasks and functions. This project is aimed at talent management and will help
company in assessing importance of talent management as well as will help them in devising
such strategies that will be helpful in retaining talented people in Google LLC.
Time – This refers to the estimated time that will be taken for successfully completing the
specified project (Patanakul, 2015). It is required that time frame for each step of project is
decided in advance so that work is completed as per decided. Time-framework for this project
has been designed with the help of Gantt Chart and Work breakdown structure. Researchers had
taken 5 weeks to complete this research and further 7 weeks are expected to be taken by Google
LLC to design and implement strategies based on the outcomes and recommendations of this
research report.
Quality – This refers to the quality in sources of information collection so that data
processed can be treated as authentic. Secondary information of this project has been taken from
only certified sources to be assured of quality of work. Also, company needs to maintain sources
and information confidential so as to ensure that quality is unadulterated.

Communication – This refers to communication of project information to all the
stakeholders of the research (Kendrick, 2015). It includes deciding communication channel and
can be both ways – written as well as oral. For conducting this research, both written as well as

HR department of the company and while senior management develops strategies, they are
implemented throughout company personnel in a written manner so so to make things official,
authentic and verifiable.
Risk – This includes mentioning of all the risks that are associated with and are
experienced by researchers. These are risks of different types and includes risk of limited
resources, limited sources, funds crunch, inaccurate responses, etc. Also, company faces risk in
the form of lack of talent among staff, inadequacy of skilled staff, inaccurate data presented and
information analysed, etc.
Resources – This includes all the resources that researchers had used while conducting
research. Researcher had used resources like pen, paper, time, responses, etc. which were
necessary to conduct a complete research project while company require resources like talented
employees, correct data, authentic sources, etc.
P3 Work breakdown structure and Gantt Chart
Researchers used various methods to determine time-frame of the project structure.
Below mentioned are the techniques used by Google LLC to determine the time-frame of the
research project:
Work Breakdown Structure
This structure helps in dividing project process into simple sequential steps. This enables
dividing complex work into manageable tasks forms which makes it easy and target bound for
project manager to complete the project process (Nicholas and Steyn, 2017). WBS is used for
both project management as well as research management. This determines roles and
responsibilities related to project management, along with cost, risk involved and developing
correct sources to generate information.

Gantt Chart
This is a bar chart type which helps in determining relationship between schedules status
and real time activity performance (Artto, Ahola and Vartiainen, 2016). It is presented in vertical
and horizontal axis which have the legend of indicating status of work and status of activities in a
structured and planned manner so that project can be completed in an effective and efficient
manner. It includes various parts such as bars, dateline, lists, timelines, etc. which helps in
executing project management functions such as planning, organising and controlling activities
in an optimum manner.

P4 Small-scale research methodology for meeting project aims and objectives (650 words)
This refers to identification and determination of specific tools and techniques which are
used for defining, assessing, processing and analysing all the data and information concerned to
specified project (Young, 2016.). This helps in evaluating validity and reliability of project
information in orderly manner. Below mentioned is the research methodology used by
researchers in this project:
Primary Method – This method denotes that data which has been collected first-hand. It
is raw data which is collected by researcher according to the identified problem and the required
research aim. Since, it is collected by researcher themselves, it is time consuming and more cost
8

incurring method. It includes method such as interviews – personal and telephonic, questionnaire
evaluation, case studies, focus groups, etc.
Secondary Method – This method involves using data of other researchers and scholars.
Therefore, this data is also known as second hand information (Lundin and et.al. 2015).
Researchers take cues from varied sources like journals, articles, books, websites, reports,
magazines, etc. This method is less cost and time consuming as the data has already been
compiled and analysed by someone else. However, since the data had been analysed with some
other research aim, this is said to be less reliable source of information than primary sources.
Qualitative Research – This method of research does not include all those data and
information which have been expressed in numerical terms. They includes sources of
information like photographs, words, observation and others. This is taken into consideration to
include other factors like opinions, observations, reasons behind the behaviour included in
research aim. Primary sources are preferred for qualitative research to be assured of the accuracy
of the information being extracted. Therefore, sample size of this method of research is very
small and the respondents are expected to fill all the data in an orderly manner.
Quantitative Research – This method of research includes all the information which can
be expressed in numerical or statistical terms (Vom Brocke and Lippe, 2015). It is able to record
qualitative information into quantitative terms in form of opinions. Sample size of this method of
research is usually large and it forms the main basis of analytical research data for it is easy to
interpret.
From all the above research methods, it is important for researcher to use primary
research methodology along with qualitative methodology to determine necessary data required
for analysing. The data sources and sample size of the research must be reliable. For primary
research and qualitative research analysis, company has prepared questionnaire to collect opinion
data in an orderly manner.
Sampling – This is process of deciding size of participants out of whole population in
order to convert information into numerical and statistical information. Sample size of 50 is
chosen for the research project.
Questionnaire – It contains various open and closed ended questions related to the
research aim in order to arrange for appropriate information from various participants so that it
