Description of the project:
The bridge project is also known as development as ‘Detroit River International
Crossing and the New International Trade Crossing” for building of cable stayed bridge as
well as border crossing. The main objective behind this construction work is providing
uninterrupted traffic flow and also connecting the city streets on the Ontario side. The current
status of the project is under construction. The start date of the project is in the year 2014 as
well as completion date is estimated to be 2024. The project is underway as well as it is
preparing for the site to be built on sides of river (Acppub, 2019). The estimated cost for the
project is approximately $5.7 billion and over around $350 million has already expended in
the development.
The project will deliver desirable transportation improvements over the international
travellers. It is also provided with jobs as well as prospects for development to Detroit region
and it is included features which can create the mission distinctive. The project is going to be
delivered throughout public private partnership. It is extended term performance focused
approach for obtaining public infrastructure wherever private sector undertakes major share
of the project hazards. The project risks are included financial as well as construction issues
(Gordiehoweinternationalbridge, 2015). It also ensures an efficient performance of
infrastructure from its designing as well as planning.
The reason for selecting this project is based on community benefit. The community
benefits of this project identified as opportunities in economic, environmental and social.
Investment in the project would providers opportunities to leverage the infrastructure for
getting positive economic as well as social results (Olatoye et al., 2019). As Windsor-Detroit

trade corridor is considered as busiest border crossing among Canada as well as US, therefore
this project will address key issues of border crossing ability in the region. Through this
project, there is better understanding of the transportation improvements and environmental
and social benefits of people. The main goal of this project is providing safe, secured as well
as efficient end-to-end border crossing system from Canada to US. Improvement over
international connectivity will provide positive impact on flow of traffic as well as goods
(Lesnau, 2017). The project will also help in better maintaining as well as creating of job as
well as opportunities for both border sides.
Through this project, there is understanding of significant need for innovative as well
as modern infrastructure to make sure that there is constant flow of people as well as goods
across Canada and US border. A secured border crossing project will need to accommodate
the traffic forecasts as well as deliver adequate surplus volume. The key success factors for
the project are also identified as:
