Challenges and Recommendations for Government Policy in Canada

This report examines the key challenges facing government policy, focusing on social policy and its impact on indigenous communities. Key Challenges facing the Government Policy
The social policy involves how the societies around the world are meeting the human
being desires for safety, schooling, employment, healthiness, and wellbeing. It further addresses
the global challenges and changes that states and societies are facing whether socially,
demographically and economically (Finkel, 2013). Social Policy scrutinizes the diverse roles of
governments, civil society, household, market and international organization. It aims at
promoting equality in opportunities, alleviating poverty and protecting its citizen against risk and
insecurity.
I will be exploring the challenges that need to be addressed in the article. The first
challenge that they are facing is involving many people who may or may not be interested in the
policy. Lack of people’s participation either by lack of knowledge or lack of interest will slug the
whole process of policymaking. The other challenge is financial and time constraints. The report
is calling for justice and therefore require funds to educate, deliver deterrence plans, awareness
movements intended for indigenous groups and personal and domestic related to violence
inhibition and promote individuals who are supposed to participate and further uphold the policy

Developing regulations, procedures and policies, and public education drives to challenge the
acceptance and normalization of violence will require funds and knowledgeable individuals who
are not at the disposal usually. Without funds the above mentioned cannot be done (Lightman,
2003).
Government policies take longer to be implemented. The process of analyzing and
changing a policy takes a year, but in other cases it may take longer depending on the
controversies the issue is addressing and the resources needed. A lot of commitment is required

to make and uphold any policies made. Corruption and inequality is also a significant challenge.
The government should ensure that all the indigenous women, girls, and 2SLGBTQQIA people
should participate in decision making, access healing programs, and equal social and economic
rights. Human rights include affordable housing, food, and clean drinking water (Béland,
Marchildon & Prince, 2019). There should also be equal right to employment of indigenous
women, girls and 2SLGBTQQIA people.
Lack and delay of justice for the indigenous women, girls, and 2SLGBTQQIA who have
been violating before will also slow the process. The necessary measures that prevent,
investigate and compensate women who have been violated previously are not put in place and
therefore causing a lot of disbelief in the policy(Joseph, 2019). Elimination of jurisdiction gaps
that result in denial of service or not adequately regulated and delivered services take longer to
be implemented and sometimes not everything is covered.
According to Joseph Canada had a lot of different cultures, religion, and races( 2018). It
is important to note that if these cultural differences are not respected, reclaimed and revitalized
the indigenous women, girls and 2SLGBTQQIA will feel left out and therefore not participate in
the call.
Lastly, Inadequate staffing and lack of training is another challenge. Indigenous women,
girls, and 2SLGBTQQIA people need to be trained to become knowledgeable on the same.
Policymakers must have content knowledge and experience to work effectively (Shier &
Graham, 2014). They also need to differentiate their personal needs versus public needs and be
professional.

I would recommend proper planning ahead. Planning provides an explicit idea of
intervention, and it is the principal notion in development. Development is the performance and
process of growing to a more progressive state and or situation. It is thought that there is nothing
generally inevitable about the social ills, but it is vital to marshal social forces to turn
misfortunes to advantages. Usage of mass social media, creating community belief and opinion,
protests, public interest litigation, deliberations, seminars and meetings, building pressure over
the administration government, proposal and submission of memorandums, signature campaigns
and lastly pressure groups should be used to effect the changes in the policy (Lightman &
Lightman, 2017).
These constraints mentioned above can be worked on with a unified approach from both
the government and other stakeholders. There should be required training, technical expertise to
formulate and implement social policies for the indigenous women, girls, and 2SLGBTQQIA
people (Atkinson et al., 2013). It is important to note that all this lies heavily on the political and
legislative will. Each person should be involved to fight violence against the indigenous
communities because they are human and require equality.
